  1. your baseing all this on one game? He's not perfect geeezus. If you would have saw some of PM's games in college you could have said he was overrated too.Rodgers was good but not great in college.PM had a heck of a lot better recievers than luck too.

I've actually watched every one of PM's games in college (which is the reason i'm a colts fan now). Most of my comment was just based off that game beside the last two sentences. I never said that Luck isn't worthy of the 1st pick because i think he is. Luck is actually being a lot more hyped then Manning ever was. Are you actually mad that i called Luck out for a few inaccurate passes and taking too many sacks?? Can you please tell me one WR Manning had in college that had a successful NFl career? The only thing i can think of is one good season by Peerless Price and Stallworth has never been productive.

  2. have you seen him play?, have you seen his laser guided arm? he is one of the most accurate college passers I've ever seen, save for Elway, Marino, and a few others like the Mannings ----- he is wildly accurate. drops passes into small windows, is also athletic. yea, he's thrown a few picks (last game) but he was playing Oregon and they are tremendous, he's beat tremendous teams over and over.

I just hope he comes info the draft knowing he is not going to get his ring this year due to the Oregon defeat.

Oregons defense is actually not very good, i thought Andrew Luck was going to shred them but it didn't happen.

  3. That interception he had was a bad decision but i do like that he stays calm and came back with a TD. I noticed he over threw 4 or 5 balls and threw one ball behind a TE that was wide open ( even though the TE still could of caught it). There was a few bad drops from the recievers that didn't help his cuase either. When Oregon was getting pressure on him i was kinda dissapointed that he didn't adjust and have a check down (not sure whos fault that is coaches or Luck). Luck overall had an alright game though and threw a lot of accurate passes. Do i think Luck is over rated? Yes, but that's more of the medias fault making him seem like he's the next savior for any NFL team. I still think he will have a good NFL career though.

  4. becuase people believe we have 3-4 more years with Manning. If that's the case then i would rather build up the secondary and try to get one more superbowl with Manning. If Manning's not doing so good when the draft comes around, i'm all for getting Luck. If Miami was willing to give up a lot for the 1st though i would rather make that trade and draft Barkley with the 2nd since i don't think that Barkley isn't far behind Luck.

  5. Does anybody else think he would be a perfect fit for our O-line? He can play any

Guard or Tackle position and do it well. I would obviously want to start him at G since IJalana should be the future RT and Castanzo at LT. If any of them got injured he could slide over and get the job done. I'm thinking we could get him at the top of the 2nd but what do you guys/gals think?

  6. for everyone saying you have to "zip the ball in there", when is the last time manning "zipped the ball in there"? it's a good thing the colts weren't in the arm strength camp when they drafted manning, because they would have ended up with ryan leaf. a big time arm is not a necessity in the nfl. in fact, how many college qb's hide weaknesses in their game with a big arm, only to flop in the nfl.

He use to have a really strong arm but has lost some of it the last 2 to 3 years. Which will happen to anybody that has as many pass attemps as he has. I also noticed that he's a little slower on his play action, he use to get 7 yards of space before the defensive end could even take two steps. It's to bad that he doesn't have the arm strength and quickness he use to becuase he is mentally far ahead of where he was at 10 years ago.

  7. http://profootballta...w-luck/related/

    Just for consideration. :)

    an excerpt,

That's the exact same thing that i see from Luck, he has really good touch passes but haven't seen him put that zip on the ball. In the NFL you're going to have to rifle that ball into your reciever sometimes. Maybe he does have that ability but i havent seen it in the hanful of games i watched. I am in no way a Luck hater, i just think Barkley is a lot closer to him then most people realize.

  8. I just think if the Colts decided that they were taking a QB with their first pick no matter what that, i would prefer to trade back to the 5-10 spot and take Barkley. Even though Luck will be ready to start sooner then Barkley, Peyton will be back and we won't need him too. Moving back like that would save us roughly 2-3 million a year on our back up QB and a couple more picks to improve our seconday.

  9. Just watching the games, i'm just as much impressed with Barkley then Luck. I see Barkley making really tough throws all over the field with great accuracy. He wasn't helped that much in last weeks game with all the drops that his recievers had but i'm actually seeing a higher upside with him then Luck. I base that off it seems like he has a little more zip to his passes then Luck. I'm no expert at evaluating talent but i would like to hear some of your opinions this!!

  10. Alright, are you ready for part 18 trillion in the 'the Colts should make this or that trade and/or draft these or those players' series? Hold tight, this might get a little weird, here we go:

Let's say Manning comes back and practices towards the end of the season, maybe even gets a little game time. He shows every indication that he'll return to his old form. We finish 1-15 with the rights to the first pick in the upcoming draft. The 2012 NFL league year rolls around and we make the following moves:

Let Walk: Reggie Wayne, Robert Mathis, Anthony Gonzales, Pierre Garcon, Jeff Saturday, Ryan Diem, Kerry Collins, and Jacob Lacey. Wayne and Mathis are going to want a significant payday, Garcon will likely get a decent offer from someone else that's more than we should pay, Gonzales and Lacey just stink, and Diem, Saturday, and Collins are just too old and need to move on. These moves (or lack thereof) will save us lots of cap space!

Cut: Donald Brown, Jerry Hughes, Gary Brackett, and Melvin Bullitt. Two 1st round busts and two mediocre/overpaid injured guys. Saves even more cap space!

Trade: Dwight Freeney, Joseph Addai, and Dallas Clark, possibly in a package deal. Let's say we package them to a team that's already a playoff contender that a move like this could be enough to put them over the top. Let's say the Lions, and we get their 2012 1st and 4th round picks in return (which based on their current record would be the 30th and 126th picks). In order to make this work, we might have to renegotiate some or all of their contracts as a condition of the trade. Otherwise their cap hit would probably be too much for Detroit. Once we unload these guys, we free up a huge amount of cap space for ourselves!

Sign Free Agents: Matt Flynn - QB from Green Bay (27), Carl Nicks - G from New Orleans (27), Dwayne Bowe - WR from Kansas City (27), Paul Soliai - DT from Miami (28), Tracy Porter - CB from New Orleans (26), and LaRon Landry - S from Washington (27). We'll have tons of cap room and actually be able to bring in guys off this caliber, all of which are from 26 to 28 years old, in their prime, and have a good 5-8 years left in the tank. But all are seasoned enough to be able to supply our team with much needed veteran leadership, since the vast majority of our own vets will be gone.

Surprise trade: In the days leading up to the 2012 NFL Draft, we make a blockbuster trade with the Vikings, sending them Peyton Manning and Austin Collie in a package deal in return for their 2012 and 2013 1st and 2nd round picks (which based on their current record would be the 7th and 39th picks in the 2012 draft). The trade sets off an enormous media blitz with many experts/fans outraged about it and many saying it makes sense and that Andrew Luck is destined for Indy. Manning is happy with the trade, in fact, he asks the front office for it.

Draft Day: As we go on the clock, everyone expects to hear us call Andrew Luck's name, but instead is shocked to instead hear that we've traded the #1 pick to Miami (who then drafts Andrew Luck, QB from Stanford) in return for their 2012 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks (#2, #34, and #66) and their 2013 1st and 4th round picks. Then we turn around and trade the #2 pick to the Rams (who then draft Matt Kalil, OT from USC) for their 2012 1st and 2nd round picks (#4 and #36). The Rams make the move cause they desperately want Kalil and are worried that Arizona will take him with the 3rd pick (which they end up using to draft Jonathan Martin, OT from Stanford). We then receive an offer from Seattle, which we accept, for the #4 pick (which they use to draft Matt Barkley, QB from USC) in exchange for their 2012 1st and 2nd round picks (#6 and #38). Seattle makes the move because Pete Carroll desperately wants Matt Barkley and is worried that Denver will knab him up with the #5 pick (which they end up using to draft Landry Jones, QB from Oklahoma). We then trade the #6 pick to the Browns (who then draft Alshon Jeffery, WR from South Carolina) for their two 2012 first round picks (#11 and #20 from Atlanta for the Julio Jones trade). We then draft as follows:

#7 (from MIN) - Justin Blackmon, WR from Oklahoma State

#11 (from CLE) - Quinton Coples, DE from North Carolina

#20 (from ATL via CLE) - Cordy Glenn, G from Georgia

#30 (from DET) - Manti T'eo - LB from Notre Dame

#33 IND - Peter Konz, C from Wisconsin

#34 (from MIA) - Jerel Worthy, DT from Michigan State

#36 (from STL) - Dwayne Allen, TE from Clemson

#38 (from SEA) - Chase Minnifield, CB/KR from Virginia

#39 (from MIN) - Jayron Hosley, CB from Virginia Tech

#65 IND - LaMichael James, RB from Oregon

#66 (from MIA) - Ryan Broyles, WR/PR from Oklahoma

#97 IND - Nick Foles, QB from Arizona

#126 (from DET) - Jeff Fuller, WR from Texas A&M

#129 IND - Trevor Guyton, DE from California

#161 IND - Tom Compton, OT from South Dakota

#193 IND - Kevious Watkins, G from South Carolina

And after all of that, we still have 3 first round picks, 2 second round picks, 1 third rounder, and 2 fourth rounders (as well as our 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks) in the 2013 draft!

Did your head explode? Alright, let me have it now...

I just blacked out reading this.

  11. It would never happen. Who's going to give us Dez Bryant for two players in their mid-30's? Do you honestly believe that the Cowboys would even consider something that stupid? Al Davis wouldn't have done it.

Conversely, why would the Colts trade Manning and Wayne for a WR and a few picks? We'd be terrible for 5 years.

If they really wanted a QB to replace Romo, they would make a move for Luck, not Manning, because it would save them money.

Why do people think you can just trade for anyone, at any time, sign anyone at any time, and bring in any coach at any time? There are contracts, caps, and other teams have plans of their own.

If you can do it in Madden, you can do it in real life!! haha

  12. I'm having trouble remembering if it was KC or Cincy. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Sure, ultimately you have to blame the FO if the personnel isn't good enough, but I wouldn't call for them to be fired for it. Don't forget that the starting secondary right now was designed to be Sanders/Bethea/Hayden/Jackson - which would have been an asset rather than a hindrance. That's three high draft picks who performed well, and are gone due to injury when they should all be in their prime. You can criticize the efforts to replace them, but don't forget that Powers isn't bad, Bullit is gone, and Thomas lost his entire rookie season due to injury as well. Thomas is now getting an opportunity and hopefully he will develop quickly, and that the other young players will pick it up a bit as well. You have to assume that it will be addressed further in the off-season.

I'm not blaming Powers at all for the problems, he seems to be the only solid CB we have right now. I think gutting the secondary would be a good idea once the season is over, the only young players i would keep is Lefeged, Thomas and i'm on the fence about Rucker. Rucker hasn't impressed me much but he may deserve one more chance.
