  1. He has missed on 1, who can play but hasnt been able to stay healthy and showed no sogns of health issues in college. A 6th round pick who doesnt become a starter in 2 years, isnt a "miss". He is still on the roster and looked good at times last year. Strachan is a project who hasnt even gotten an opportunity yet. Cmon man "so many"? Right, and thats my point. Nobody has said that a player cant or shouldnt be found in free agency or thru a trade. People ARE saying he is making a mistake by not splurging on a free agent WR. Im just saying he still has a draft and anyone who suggests he cant land a great receiver in the draft simply doesnt know what they are talking about.
  2. What has happened more often? 1. A team drafted a great WR. 2. A team signed a great WR. 3. A team traded for a great WR. I think the answer is obviously #1, so Im just curious why so many people are obsessed with the Colts going any other route?
  3. I basically agree, I think he has a big year. This Colts team is built to win late in the season and I could absolutely see Ryan putting up 4500 yards and 30 TDs and taking the Colts deep into the playoffs. People act like QBs over the age of 35 havent had tremendous success in the NFL. Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Rivers.........Ryan at this stage reminds me a lot of Peyton when he left the Colts. Peytons arm was pretty much shot. I actually think Matts arm is in much better condition than Mannings was. Both guys are cerebral quarterbacks and can overcome limitations with their experience and know how.
  4. Why are you "setting aside the volatility"? Thats a pretty important aspect of that position in particular. You have to be dependable in important situations.
  5. You think he has to be"great" to be a drastic improvement over Carson Wentz? Seriously? I think all he has to do is not throw left handed passes on the goaline, which I promise he wont do. He will check it down to Taylor when hes wide open, unlike Wentz as well, he will find ways to get gim the ball in space............ He has to be more accurate than Carson was, which he absolutely will be. Be better on 3rd down, which he absolutely will be. Be better at reading defenses, which he very much will be. Be better checking out of bad plays, which he will be, I assure you. Get rid of the ball quicker, which he will.........Or maybe not call his own number several dozen plays in a row and forget about our best player, which he also wont do either. Carson didnt get run out of town because of his stats. He got ran out of town because stats dont tell the real story. You cant evaluate QB play with just a stat sheet. Nobody has said that Matt Ryan is still a great QB. That is the only strawman argument that is being had here. But he is gonna be a hell of a lot better than Wentz was........ on the Colts. Because the truth is, his numbers on a rebuilding Falcons team dont matter at all. What matter is what he can do with JT and Michael Pittman, with this OL and everything else he will have as his support system, in Indianapolis.
  6. People like you are the equivilent of that hating "friend" we all had at some point that picks apart everything that you do and then when they finally prove you wrong, you wanna weasel your way into the frame and pretend you were rooting for them the entire time. Being "middle of the pack" doesnt mean you werent good.
  7. nonsense Matt Ryan just threw for 4500 yards in 2020. He also isnt 38. He is 36 and will be 37 soon, but he isnt 38. He is a much better QB than Carson.
  8. Not true at all. You only heard about Justin Jones after the fact. There was nobody claiming we were interested in him beforehand. We heard nothing about the Ryan deal until it was done. He met with the top brass of the Colts the day before the deal was done. Not a single report about it. We heard nothing about the Buckner deal until it happened. We heard nothing about Ngakoue until it happened. We heard nothing about Tyreek Hill until it was a certainty. Jared, you are being entertained by these people. They arent nearly as plugged in as you think. 90% of the stuff they say, never happens. There are all kinds of conversations going on, most of which are never known publically. You also leave out reports of us being in talks with Tyrann Matheiu which has been widely reported. There were other reports you have left out but I think I made my point.
  9. The Colts had little trouble scoring enough points last year. They were 9th in ppg with Wentz at QB. Less than a half a point behind the mighty Rams, with all those "weapons". The Colts are fine. This is all way overblown by a small group of overly dramatic fans. None of their beliefs hold up to scrutiny.
  10. He has been their GM since 2012. At the 5 year mark the Rams still hadnt had a winning season. And, if you were in charge he wouldve been fired, and they likely never go to or win a SB. It took him 9 years to figure out the QB situation, and he had many more high 1st round picks than Ballard.
  11. This is the new thing for talentless hacks like Dakich and Wells.......just be overly critical because it always gets more attention.
  12. Because he was patient and didnt panic.......like the fans do every year. If fans ran the team they would just make every free agent they like that fits a need position the highest paid guy at their position until they run out of cap space and realize they cant think that way and be successful. Everyone points to the Rams, but what they have really been good at is not whiffing on the players they spend on. Donald, Ramsey, Stafford and Kupp. Now theybadded Robinson, not sure what hes making. Their roster really isnt that great and is extremely top heavy. But the top of that roster is truly great. They arent paying any duds top level money. Only 4 guys make over 10 million. The Colts have 7 guys making over 10.
  13. Isnt "fringe playoff team" another way of saying "playoff CONTENDER" ? Or do you mean they should be soooo good they are not only in the playoffs, they are competing with the upper echelon of the AFC despite a tremendous disadvantage at QB? Cmon man.
  14. Please dont associate the lovely Kay Adams with these degenerates. She doesnt deserve that.
  15. Or maybe we have just had real problems in life and dont get too worked up over NFL free agency?
  16. Ive stated my opinion over and over. My opinion is neither one of us know what we are talking about, but youre the only one making any dubious claims. Im not offended at all.
  17. I didnt. I merely said I put more value on what experienced people think about him than what a random fan I dont know from 3rd base on an anonymous message board thinks about him. He is highly respected in his field. If we fired him he would be snatched up in about 5 m9nutes and that is enough for me. A lot of people have criticism but none of those people have any real solutions. What do you want me to say here? Its easy to be critical. Very easy. You know Tom Bradys recent show "The Man in the Arena".....well thats actually based on a great quote by Teddy Roosevelt, and directed at people like these people trashing Chris Ballard. All these armchair critics who think they have the worlds issues figured out, whether its politics or disease management or NFL GMs.....need to read it about 20 times in a row and take it to heart. Seriously. The world would be a much, much, much better place if they did.
  18. Well there arent many people qualified to judge him that think the way you do about him, so I take your opinion with a grain of salt.
  19. Because he is actually a pretty good gm. So yes he gets praised. The criticism is actually more like chuldish mocking him and his supporters disguised as "criticism".
  20. I dont care about that. Its about weapons for me. Guys who produce yards and TDs. And we had the premier weapon in football last year. He produced 20+ tds and like 2000 yards. We have a good young number 1 in Pitt. I like him a lot as well and think with better QB play he would grt more respect. I dont expect a madden like stacked roster. Im a realist. They need a TE and a receiver. Thats not as bad as you make it out to be. Every single year. And we wouldve won our fair share of playoff games, for sure.
  21. These are your opinion. I dont share that opinion at all. Hyperbole is for people who dont have a valid point. Your point is essentially "The Colts dont have a stacked offense"
