@Moosejawcoltdoesn't really need me to defend him, but the bolded is obviously untrue. Not one Colts fan on the board would complain if we won the SB that we should have done it sooner. Everyone would be happy and jubilant and realize that AR was the piece we needed to win the SB in all likelihood.

If you could guarantee a SB next year, everyone would say it was worth the wait and praise Ballard. However, the issue is you can't. We haven't won a playoff game since 2018, we have never won the division under Ballard. he has a 54-60-1 lifetime record. Your post makes it seem like we are making the playoffs every year and getting beat (like the Manning days before he won one). This is far away from that, and much less a guarantee. Just making the playoffs and winning the division would be a huge step forward, which is why I was so upset about losing Saturday.

Ballard isn’t being discussed here.  His second, Dodds, is.  It’s just another way for y’all to bash Ballard.

I also stand behind my statement that he would still have something negative to say if we win the Super Bowl.  My opinion stands.

The notion that Dodds isn’t highly regarded is subjective, I would agree with that.  But the fact that he has been repeatedly requested for interviews over the last 3 years means there is at least some interest there.  It’s not too much of a stretch to say he’s highly regarded, in my opinion.

how is he highly thought of? He was brought in from Seattle to assist in building the Seattle D. He has been a huge disappointment in my books.  I hope he goes, because this team needs to move on from this D as much as they can.

Everyone in the organization is a disappointment in your book.  We could win the Super Bowl and you would still complain how we should have done it sooner. Your only a fan of your own thoughts in my opinion.

This is an annual thing.  I think Dodds wants the perfect situation before he takes that leap. Working for Humpty Dumpty and having to find a QB in Vegas isn’t it.  But a team like the Chargers that has a franchise QB in place may be of interest to him

Yeah, he's clearly highly thought of.  My guess is he's just be happy here waiting for the perfect job and just waiting for CB to get tossed in the meantime.  Not saying anything will happen this year, but next year is more of a possibility if AR lands on his face or the roster regresses.

Wait...what QB has played 75 % of the snaps for the Steelers?  Was it Rudolph or Trubiski (3 games each)?

    Have they made the playoffs?

LOL So, if CB had a #2 pick things would be different? He's had two top five picks in 7 years.

And Caserio has had 3 top 3 picks in the last couple of years along with pick 15.

We lost our starter this year as well.  Not even close on comparing the two.

How long has Caserio been the GM of the Texans?

Two years.  What's the point?  He's been there for a shorter time?  Great.

When is the last time CB had the #2 pick?  How many times has CB picked in the top 10?

I think that Ballard is a very solid drafter. But I also think he's pretty bad at everything else a GM does. Free agency decisions being the worst of it. This DB group was bad enough that Darrell Baker was somehow our CB1 to start the season. You can't tell me that they couldn't find some veteran better than Baker Jr in the offseason. I refuse to believe it lol. The skill position's groups on offense are also pretty bad and Ballard hasn't helped add any parts there via FA either. Downs looks to be good, but we don't have any special recieving threats on the roster.

Ballard's time as a Colts is directly tied to how well AR turns out to be. If Ballard doesn't equip the team with enough parts to let him shine, he's outta here.

This was to be an evaluation year for SS.  No one had eyes on the playoffs.  May have a wish for it, but no one was saying this year was a disappointment if we didn't make the playoffs.  We had no need to draft high FA's this year.

I agree, though, that Ballard will be tied to the success of AR.  Have no issue with that.

Take CJ stroud out after week 4 and how do you think the Texans legitimately do?

    Bingo!

When the Texans make the playoffs one year after being a dumpster fire, it's hard to argue. And there are people saying the roster is very good.

So, if the Texans lost Stroud during the season and didn't make the playoffs would you be saying the same thing about Caserio?

I hope the injury to AR isnt an excuse to keep Ballard around! He doesn’t deserve to put this organization through another lackluster draft and FA! The time to move on is Now!

Yeah, I agree.  AR, Juju, Downs, Freeland, Hull, Jones...they're all scrubs and didn't contribute or show any growth at all this year.

Yep, just another typical bad draft for Ballard.  He really is bad.

This team fought all season long. With a backup QB basically all season long. With a laughably depleted secondary all season long. We won 9 games and have a winning season this year. I understand being disappointed, but this season (as a whole) is not a disappointment.

    Thank you! (out of likes)

it was a good play call goodson was wide open  .  minshew is just so inaccurate i cant wait to never watch him again . i will be so mad if he returns

He's a backup, for goodness sake.  He's not our regular starter.  Get a grip!

He won us more games than anyone expected.  I definitely want him back next year if the price is right.

4th and 1 and you put your 4th string RB out there after a drive that you barely let your QB throw once?

Will strongly disagree that being a good call considering the circumstance and the substitution.

He was open and had Pitt out in front.  If he had caught it it was a clear 1st down.  It was the right call.

You can question the personnel but not the play call.  It was excellent.

  13. A couple of plays swung the momentum:

    1) the injury when we had a great drive going

    2) the decision not to punt

Defense played well overall.  Gus pulled some plays out and went outside his norm which caused CJ into bad throws.

Injuries just killed our secondary, but overall they played decent.

Offense was disjointed at key points of the game.  I think SS was his worst enemy today on a couple of drives.

Finally, that last play was a good call.  He was open, but they just missed on the pass - for whatever reason.  Good call, poor execution.
