The trade proposals
Joey Bosa (22 M in salary cap savings for the Chargers post June-1st according to over the cap)
For
2023 3rd round, Ryan Kelly and Kwity Paye
Why
Chargers
They will get a top center to replace Linsley and a promising DE who's coming off of a double digit sack season. If you add Bosa, Linsey and cutting Kendricks the Chargers gain roughly 37 million in cap relief (projected to be -45M) which could be more if they extend Kelly.
Joey Bosa has been banged up most of his career so it could be time to cut bait.
Colts
This is a calculated gamble. Bosa base salary of 15M (24) and 17M (25) is very palatable compared to what top WRs are getting. Pairing him with DeForest Buckner, Dayo and Samson Ebukam maintains if not exceeds our current lineup. Bosa has injury issues but with players playing longer than before especially at his position would he be extra motivated to play through dings for another contract.
Connections
SS and Gus Bradley were in San Diego with Bosa
Bosa under Gus
2017 70 tackles/ 12.5 sacks
2018 23 tackles /5.5 sacks *injured
2019 67 tackles/ 11.5 sacks
2020 39 tackles/ 7.5 sacks *injured
Top 100 player 7 years straight
Harbaugh and Kwity Paye at Michigan
Impact
Big Trade Ballard!!!
This is a aggressive move but calculated. A 3rd rounder is expected to contribute but not to the degree of a 1st. Ballard has security in his job and even if this fails he will still get credit for trying.
Bullseye on Bradley!!!
Ballard can really say he gave Bradley every chance to succeed. Bringing in numerous of his former players and drafting players to fit his scheme. A tiger doesn't change his stripes but Bradley may have to add a few wrinkles and manufacturer some pressure. There are a few coordinators out there with ties to SS.
Bosa
He should see more one on ones playing next to Buckner. This line (if healthy) should rip through the AFC South. Could this help with injuries?
What's your Mock Draft after the trade?

***DISCLAIMER***
This is the 1st full round draft I have ever done, so please be gentle. LOL I normally only focus on my favorite team, the Colts. But my son said I should try a full round, so here it is. I think the Colts go with Bowers if he falls to #15 based on being the BPA. Now, if you read what is said about him, he is a WR in a TE body, but still very fast. He could be our move TE or our WR2 that defenses will have to respect and open the field up for our other WRs. I went by the site's projections of team needs and rankings of players (Profootball Network). It's not perfect, but this is only my first attempt. What do you guys think?
ROUND 1
1. Bears - Caleb Williams, QB USC
2. Redskins - Drake Maye, QB North Carolina
3. Patriots - Jayden Daniels, QB LSU
4. Cardinals - Joe Alt, OT Notre Dame
5. Chargers - Marvin Harrison Jr., WR Ohio State
6. Giants - Dallas Turner, EDGE Alabama
7. Titans - Malik Nabers, WR LSU
8. Falcons - Rome Odunze, WR Washington
9. Bears - Terrion Arnold, CB Alabama
10. Jets - Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT Penn State
11. Vikings - Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB Alabama
12. Broncos - Laiatu Latu, EDGE UCLA
13. Raiders - JC Latham, OT Alabama
14. Saints - Jer'Zhan Newton, DT Illinois
15. Colts - Brock Bowers, TE Georgia
16. Seahawks - Cooper DeJean, CB Iowa
17. Jaguars - Jared Verse, EDGE Florida State
18. Bengals - Keon Coleman, WR Florida State
19. Rams - Chop Robinson, EDGE Penn State
20. Steelers - Taliese Fuaga, OT Oregon State
21. Dolphins - Amarius Mims, OT Georgia
22. Eagles - Nate Wiggins, CB Clemson
23. Texans - Brian Thomas Jr., WR LSU
24. Cowboys - Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB Clemson
25. Packers - Kamren Kinchens, S Miami (FL)
26. Buccaneers - Troy Fautanu, OG Washington
27. Cardinals - Michael Penix Jr., QB Washington
28. Chiefs - Kamari Lassiter, CB Georgia
29. Bills - Kingsley Suamataia, OT BYU
30. Lions - Kalen King, CB Penn State
31. 49'ers - Graham Barton, OG Duke
Marvin Harrison Jr to the Chargers wow!!! Herbert has no excuses thats a scary line up

My bad on Frank Smith. I really thought you were speaking of Arthur Smith. I did not know of a Frank Smith.
No chance the commandos pass on Williams or Maye this coming year. These guys don't come around often.
All luv brother nothing wrong with a great debate. I just see Washington who QB led the league with sacks and think of David Carr.... Why not reload this year and go after Deion son or wait another year and get the Manning.... New ownership really has a chance to get this right plus if they are trading to the Raiders.... the Raiders will do Raiders things....

I'm a Zak Zinter fan in the later rounds. He most likely won't start this year and needs work in the pass game, but he is what we used to have in Q as a run blocked. Will punch a Dlineman in the mouth then push him to the ground.
Appreciate the read.... I think in the next 2 or 3 years our line will be more youthful and changes are coming

This is absolutely terrible.
No way Washington trades out of the 2nd pick and the Pats 1000% are taking a QB and zero chance the Colts take a DT at 18. This year I really think the Colts will trade up or stand put. This team needs immediate playmakers. Not a bunch of guys via a load of picks that they hope become playmakers.
Who is Jim Vrabel and Frank Smith?
Good catch on Mike Vrabel...
Frank Smith is dolphins OC
The grouo that bought Commanders are part of Philadelphia Sixers who did the process (tank) to build their team.... what use is a QB when the team is horrible. They can trade back and build their team and be in a similar situation as the Bears with a better team for a rookie to walk into....
Opinions vary
Appreciate the read and comments

Read an interesting evaluation of Calvin Ridley on pff. He is a FA on the Jags. According to his contract if he signs an extension with them the draft pick awarded to the Falcons escalates to a 2nd from a 3rd as part of the trade conditions. They only have around 13m in cap space. They could tag him for around 21m. Not sure if that would prevent the draft pick escalation though. They also need to decide on whether to pick up Lawrence ‘s 5th year option or even extend him this offseason. They have some serious decisions to make. If Ridley somehow makes it to FA I would think Ballard would be interested.
They gotta sign Josh Allen as well....

The Fields debate seen from an article out of Chicago still debating whether they thought Fields was more of a career backup not a starter. Also mentioned his trade value as a backuo compared to if he would be a starter. The 2nd and future wasn’t a stretch of the truth given what the Cowboys done in a trade for Lance from the 49ers only costing them a 4th round pick if memory serves.
Of this years’ draft class really don’t see a true compliment QB to pair up with AR and Minshew would cost the Colts too much in cap space and would be a cheaper option to for Fields cheaper and take over his contract this year as next season we will have plenty of cap space. Fields to me is more similar and offer much return on value much like Minshew and Steichen still has QBs similar to what he had in Philly where they can run the RPO with better efficiency.
It depends on what you want but
Joe Milton
Spencer Rattler
Michael Pratt
Sam Hartman
Austin Reed
Should have some decent backups in this draft on day 2 or later
You also got Drew Lock, Malik Cunningham and Tyrod Taylor in free agency
And a cheaper trade could be Bailey Zapp or Desmond Ridder

Predictions for Coaches
Jim Harbaugh to Commanders
Dan Quinn to Seahawks
Ben Johnson to Chargers
Jim Vrabel to Raiders
Eric Bieniemy to Falcons
Brian Callahan to Panthers
Frank Smith to Titans
Trade
Davante Adams and 5th round pick traded to Jets for Allen Lazard and the no. 10 pick
1. Bears Drake Maye QB
2. Raiders Caleb Williams QB
* Washington trade no.2 and a 3rd for pick 10,13 2025 1st, 4th and 2026 2nd
3. Patriots Marvin Harrison Jr WR
*trade 2nd round pick for Justin Fields
4. Cardinals Dallas Turner DE
5. Chargers Kool-aid McKinstrey CB
6. Giants Joe Alt OT
7. Titans Malik Nabers WR
8. Falcons Jayden Daniels QB
9. Broncos JJ McCarthy QB
*Broncos trade 12 and 3rd round for no.9
10. Commanders Olu Fashsnu OT
11. Vikings Chop Robinson DE
12. Bears Rome Odunze WR
13. Commanders Laiatu Latu DE
14. Saints Nate Wiggins CB
15. Bengals Brock Bowers TE
*trade no 18 and 4th and 5th for 15th
Logic: The Bengals have a major decision to make between Tee Higgins WR and Johan Williams OT. Either way the answer is Brock Bowers who has had success blocking in the SEC and has shown to be a playmaker at the TE position. A lineup of Chase, Boyd and Bowers can be lethal and even deadlier if they choose Tee Higgins over Williams.
16. Seahawks Jared Verse DE
17. Jaguars Keon Coleman WR
18. Colts Jer'Zhan Newton DL 6'2 295lbs
Scouting Report:

2nd Edgerrin Cooper LB A&M 6'3 230lbs
Scouting Report:
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Edgerrin-Cooper-LB-TexasAANDM
3rd Sedrick Van Pran C Georgia 6'4 310lbs
* Ryan Kelly, 5th and 7th for Cardinals 3rd round pick
Logic The Cardinals have 2 of the top 7 picks in the 3rd round. They trade the first of the 3rd round picks and pick up a great center to help protect Kyler Murray and get 2 more picks as well.
Scouting Report:

6th Rasheen Ali RB Marshall 6' 209lbs

Overall like CB I built through the trenches with this draft.
Jer'Zhan Newton should make a immediate impact and help bring continued pressure and run stopping when either Grover or Buckner is off the field.
Found a replacement for Ryan Kelly who has ton of experience. Probably will try Zak Zinter out at RT first to see if we have a future replacement for Braden Smith who was also a guard in college, swing tackle or just another guard.
We got a defense weapon with Cooper who can take a few snaps at Leo as well as LB
Jermaine Burton can line-up everywhere and his ability to separate deep should allow AR to throw some moon balls
Johnny Willson will be a project converting him into a TE. Right now he's a big slot guy similar to Josh Reynolds
Dwight McGlothern is a good zone coverage CB who isn't afraid to jump a route for better or worse
Rasheen Ali is a guy I want in camp. RBs can be found and picked up but I don't want to risk losing him to UDFA.
As always let me know what you would do differently...

Which would you prefer? Mock A, B, or C? Personally, I would prefer Mock A as it has (seemingly) more high-end talent. JMO
A - CB 1st priority
B - WR 1st priority
C - Edge 1st priority
Mock A
15. Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB Alabama
46. Jer'Zhan Newton, DT Illinois
82. Tyler Guyton, OT Oklahoma
113. Jackson Powers-Johnson, OC Oregon
144. J. Michael Sturdivant, WR UCLA
175. Aaron Casey, LB Indiana
206. Zion Tupuola-Fetui, EDGE Washington
Mock B
15. Keon Coleman, WR Florida State
46. Cooper Beebe, OG Kansas State
82. Josh Newton, CB TCU
113. T.J. Tampa, CB Iowa State
144. Anthony Belton, OT NC State
175. Jordan Jefferson, DT LSU
206. Steve Linton, EDGE Texas Tech
Mock C
15. Chop Robinson, EDGE Penn State
46. Troy Franklin, WR Oregon
82. Josh Newton, CB TCU
113. Jackson Powers-Johnson, OC Oregon
144. Tyler Davis, DT Clemson
175. Ben Bywater, LB BYU
206. Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB Missouri
With as much zone as we play.... Gus Bradley aka the cover 3 king do you think its wise to go after a lock down CB?
-
I go with Laiatu Latu or Jared Verse.... We play zone like 75 percent of the time so idk why we would waste a high pick for someone to guard a area.

You want the fix. You can't handle the fix.
Own FA unsigned
DT Grover Stewart – replaced with Justin Madubuke as the Colts go younger
SS Julian Blackmon – Cross playing well earned starting role
DT Taven Bryan – Nichols has starting experience with the Bears and Raiders and slight improvement over Bryan who never lived up to R1 selection
P Rigoberto Sanchez – replaced with Tommy Townsend
WR Isaiah McKenzie – susp
OL Danny Pinter –
Edge Genard Avery
CB Darrell Baker Jr.
FS Henry Black
OC Jack Anderson
WR Juwann Winfree
CB Tony Brown - susp
Resigned
QB Gardner Minshew 7m
WR1 Michael Pittman Jr. 5-year 90m total, 40m guaranteed, 21m signing bonus – CBS projects 4-years 90.8m (22.7m APY)
Edge Tyquan Lewis 3m
RB Zack Moss 3m
NCB Kenny Moore 9m
FS Ronnie Harrison
LDE Jacob Martin
MLB Segun Olubi – ERFA tender
SLB Cameron McGrone – ERFA tender
FA Signing
LG/OC Trystan Colon (Cardinals)
IDL Justin Madubuke (Ravens) – CBS projects 4-years 81.2m (20.3m APY)
LDT Poona Ford (Bills) - Adebawore shocked how badly has played and Ford is an upgrade adding solid depth behind Buckner
RDT Bilal Nichols (Raiders) - Madubuke is the starter, but Nichols adds quality rotational starting abilities.
WLB-ST Joe Bachie (Bengals)
FS Geno Stone (Ravens) - CBS projects 4-years 40m 13m APY - Stone played well and should compete with Harrison for starting role
WR2 Tee Higgins (Bengals) - CBS projects 4-years 66.3m (16.5m APY) – immediate upgrade over Pierce while Pierce still adds value
P Tommy Townsend (Chiefs) – 4m/yr – insane not really Townsend expected to break the bank for Punters and command top dollar. An All-Pro in 2022 and ranks in the top 10 in the NFL. In 2021 finished second in net yards per punt and 1st in 2022. The Colts are already over-paying Sanchez more than Townsend is making now and nowhere near as great.
Draft
Round 1
LCB Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo) – add a shutdown corner
Round 2
OC/RG Jackson Powers-Johnson (Oregon) – Kelly’s future replacement but also capable playing RG
Round 3
WR-X Tory Horton (Colorado State) PR to replace McKenzie but adds needed depth behind Pittman
Round 4
WR-SL Malik Washington (Virginia) – Downs is the future but add a very capable backup
Round 5
RB Ray Davis (Kentucky) - Solid college career earned college football midseason all-America Third Team. Adds insurance behind Taylor/Moss.
Round 6
LCB Willie Roberts (Louisiana Tech) - 2023 college football midseason all-America Second Team. With Brents and Jones locking down the right side both Mitchell and Roberts fill the voids on the left with Kenny Moore back doing what he does best at nickel.
Round 7
WR-X Hayden Hatten (Idaho) Solid college career. In 2022 had 1223 receiving yards, 17 contested catches with 39 explosive plays of 15+ yards earning an elite PFF grade of 91.9. Hatten has excellent catch strength and hand-eye coordination and can create separation. Could end up being this year's Puka Nacua.
Bottom lines the Colts add multiple offensive weapons for AR while adding JPJ to the OL. On defense the Colts add quality depth with Ford and Nichols on the DL while getting a young equivalent for Stewart in Madubuke still creating a dynamic tandem with Bucker. Adding a true shutdown corner with Mitchell will help our young DBs. Time will tell how Cross and Stone/Harrison will play out next season. Our edge players have had a decent season, and all have had their moments this season so didn't see an immediate need same goes for our linebackers. Still some good things have seen from McGrone, Stuard and Olubi. The team has done well with Minshew but again the added weapons of wide receivers should help AR. Might still be some questions at tight end but like what have seen from Mallory and at times with Granson. Woods has got to come back healthy but now some questions about Ogletree's future that hopefully will get resolved as he showed lots of promise.
How much money did we spend and do you feel like we have to over pay for free agents? (Not a big market and scheme fit)

Unless we trade up I think it's Troy Franklin or Brian Thomas in the 20s in the 1st.
Anyone know of Jermaine Burton? Would he be a fit? Heard he's a bit of a character, but don't know if he's trouble.
I like Jermaine Burton, think if he was in a pass happy offense he would have more hype. To me I see prime Randall Cobb, Emanuel Sanders or a Christian Kirk type player
I like Xavier Worthy as well and liken him to Will Fuller or Marquise Brown

I'm not sold on Jared Verse. He had zero splash plays through like the first 3/4 of the season. Then, finally, he gets 9 sacks. But 5 of his 9 sacks came in 2 games. I really don't think of him as a step-up from what we already have. I'm not opposed to adding him to the roster. But if you're looking to draft "Rare Air" players, especially early in the 1st round, I don't think he rates.
Last year he burst onto the scene this year the opposing teams zeroed in on him. Hopefully he continues to grow and develop but playing next to Buckner and Grover will help. He also helps us to evaluate Paye, we aren't force to extend him and if we get the same production thats money we can allocate elsewhere. I like his motor, he's a great run stopper and he can gets sacks day 1 in the NFL if he's left one on one... I understand if you feel like he's underwhelming as a prospect everyone got their own cup of tea.

Thanks for adding to the thread
Some thoughts
Likes
Verse as an option at DE in draft. He isnt the best in sacks but the kid adds a significant number of pressures
Van Pran in round 2 - I dont think we are ready to move on from Kelly yet, but Van Pran appears to be a stud
Love Gray as a starting SSLB for this team.
Dislikes
On Burton
I had to research him and found this
"After Alabama’s loss to Tennessee in 2022, Burton lost his cool as Tennessee Volunteers fans rushed the field. Burton struck a female Tennessee fan as she skirted past him in celebration".
This would seem to disqualify him from the Colts
Overall... In my VERY humble and low value opinion, Going into the draft we needed a speedy separation WR (To open the offense), We need a playmaking CB, We need a play making FS, We need a SSLB, We need to add to the pass rush. (No order)
Verse would add value at DE rotation, Gray would be an immediate starter at SSLB.
The goal of the offseason is to take a 9 or 10 win team to to a 12-13 win team.
We would still need WR/CB/FS
Again thanks for responding..... these "What if" scenarios are fun to build
So on the Burton issue.... Saban isn't a look the other way type of coach. Im sure this has been addressed and its probably more context around it. Also don't forget Bobby Okereke wasn't squeaky clean coming out of college. Ballard still chose him and we didn't have any issues with him.
I agree mostly about Verse need that added depth and can become a impact player because DeForest Buckner does wonders taking on double teams.
As far as Kelly, definitely want to do right by the guy. He has had alot of trauma in this town. He is playing exceptional this season so why not make it a win/win and get something for him instead of taking a chance he will retire or leave in free agency next year?
Remember you gotta let guys develop. JuJu maybe that guy at CB, we haven't seen what cross can do full time at FS. The Patriots killed for years with a slot guy which we have because Randy Moss as great as he was didn't win a championship for them.
Love hearing different opinions honestly I think we need a dynamic TE more so than that WR. But hey thats why we here lets debate

I personally think AP is a WR3/4 at best. Until his hands get better at holding onto a ball and not letting them slip through, he'll never be more than that IMO. He reminds me of a lesser talented Alvin Harper for the Cowboys during their heyday.
I can see that, if we look at it now Downs is probably WR2. I don't think we will cut AP, and I think someone will have to beat him out for his field time which is alot. AP brings blocking and effort because he's not out there jogging even though the ball doesn't comes his way. Trust me I was ready to write him off but let's see him with AR

unless Ronnie Harrison becomes a starter for us, I'm starting to think LB will be one of our bigger needs behind WR. because we currently really don't have a LB that excels in pass coverage. Zaire and Speed are more run stoppers and even Zaire is more of a liability in pass coverage, so we may have to add a coverage LB to the list of draft prospects to keep an eye on.
Jaylan Ford LB texas

Like how you address the future with picks.
-
This is my most recent draft.
Traded 15 for KC 29, 61 and next year 2nd.
KC drafted Jer'Zhan Newton
I also mocked a 2023 5th and a conditional 2024 3rd that could become a 2nd depending on play time for Kyle Pitts TE (Falcons).
Logic: the Falcons did a similar trade with Calvin Ridley
Colts Logic: Anthony Richardson looks up to Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson. Both QBs organizations paired them with some all pro talent at the TE position. Cam Newton had Greg Olsen & Lamar Jackson has Mark Andrews.
pick 29. Laiatu Latu DE UCLA
I think his medical may drop him but I have him having a similar impact to Jaelan Phillips DE/LB of the Dolphins
Pick 49. Leonard Taylor DT Miami
I think he will be a great rotational piece with Buckner and Grover
Pick 61. Jaylan Ford LB Texas
Super athletic LB to fill Shaq void
83. Zach Frazier C West Virginia
potential Ryan Kelly replacement. Going into his last year its time to groom the the next center
Pick 111 Braelon Allen RB Wisconsin
A bigger back similar to Brian Robinson from Washington
Pick 145 goes to Falcons

Seemingly a start of a new era with the recent release of Shaq Leonard maybe 1 of these trade proposal will add some juice to SS offense.
George Pickens 6'3 195lbs 4.47 speed

I traded 2024 1st & 2nd Rd picks, plus a 2025 1st & 4th Rd picks for 2024 #3 Pick overall. That may seem like too much for it, but I truly would love to have MHJ on the Colts and he could help any QB succeed.
3. Marvin Harrison Jr. , WR Ohio State
84. Braelon Allen, RB Wisconsin
117. Cameron Ward, QB Washington State
123. Terrion Arnold, CB Alabama
143. Brandon Coleman, OG TCU
148. T'Vondre Sweat, DT Texas
174. Anthony Belton, OT NC State
Devil advocate... if he's everything he's supposed to be... I wouldn’t be mad at trading up... maybe not what you have here but when you think of big WR trades... Diggs, Adams, etc normally you have to factor in a major contract... MHJ would be on his rookie deal

I can't see anyway we end up picking 20th. Simply not talented enough. Id be shocked if we dont end up with a top 12 pick. Not being negative, just honest.
Have them trading down.... we were at 13th before Saints game
