Not going after an another Offensive Lineman early in the draft was a mistake. Offensive Line was problem over the last years and we never had quality depth so relying on injury prone players and some unknown, undrafted players to turn into pro bowlers is just pure gambling. If Luck is again the QB with the most hits etc. Grigson needs to seriously questioning himself.
-
Offensive Line will be a huge concern once again this year. Grigson failed to address one of our biggest weaknesses again this offseason and is gambling again by hoping that some unknown or injury prone guys just step up and play like pro bowlers. I'm not mad they cut Cherilus and think Mewhort will be a good RT but it still leaves a hole on the left side that looked good with Castonzo and Mewhort last year. Lance Louis isn't startig material, Donald Thomas is injury prone and Hugh Thornton struggled... If Luck again is one of the most hit QB this year Irsay seriously needs to talk to Grigson! I know a lot of you think that Grigson is a god that can't fail but in my eyes he did at solving our O-Line issues!
-
If Luck want's a ring or more he better not break the bank cause I can see the Colts repeating the mistakes they made with Peyton.
-
I don't expect the Defense to be much better than last year. Besides Davis and Mathis (who is a questionmark after his injury) Colts don't have any stud playmakers on the D so I prepare for another year with an inconsistent Defense.
-
Colts need playmakers on Defense and got some solid fillers at this point. Of course we all hope we will land another steal like TY Hilton but I don't expect the Defense to be much better then last season.
-
Carl Davis please!
-
If we take a RB at 61....
It will happen...and then expect some mid to late round picks to solve our Defensive problems...
-
great....just great....
-
Still hoping for Jordan Phillips!
-
Whats wrong with Gregory? Probably depression/anxiety issues? If true I think thats something you can deal with in a strong locker room.
-
Fingers crossed for Jordan Phillips to the Colts.... please!
-
A lot of people think with the Dorsett pick means Colts and Hilton will part ways next season with Luck getting a monster contract. I'm curious can't we really afford both?
-
I have to admit I'm starting to like the pick :-) If we can get a stud DT like Phillips and a S like Tartt with our next two picks it would be a good draft!
-
At least RB would be an area of need ;-)
-
Trent Richardson?
-
Colts will make the playoffs without a doubt! Dorsett will be a great player I don't doubt that either. But what I really doubt is that this strategy will bring us into a Super Bowl, because similar to the Manning years Colts will suffer because of an unbalanced team that is loaded with offensive weapons but lacks talent on the defensive side.
-
You have 5 great receivers but still an average Offensive Line with a lot of questionmarks (Holmes, Cherilus...) and a Defense that got destroyed by the Steelers, Cowboys and Patriots (twice). Look i really like Dorsett and he is a great player, he was probably the best player available (so was Werner? so was Richardson?) but I honestly fear that we are repeating the mistakes we did in the Manning years: A great Offense but an unbalanced team with an average Offensive Line and a average Defense at best. I thought this was one of the reasons we restarted the whole team.

I think a guy like Goldman, Phillips or Kendricks would be worth it

We will see how it will turn out. If the Colts again suck on Defense and protecting Andrew Luck Grigson will be in trouble. Colts probably will take a RB with one of the next two picks and so you will only have som mid round picks for the Defense. And you just can't expect to solve our Defense problems if you rely on 4th rounders to develop into pro bowlers.
-
Maybe, who knows. I feel like he wasn't, though. He filled a need for defense, but turns he he's (most likely) a bust/average player. BPA is always the best route to take so ensure you get a solid player regardless of need.
I disagree! You need to draft the Best Player Available at a position of need that's the only way you can built a complete team and not becoming one dimensional. At the moment we are repeating the same mistakes we made under Polian. Dorsett is a great player, Luck is awesome but if they can't get on the field because your Defense sucks you have a problem.
-
so i guess if the BPA with our second pick is a wr we will draft another one?
-
Colts FO thought he was BPA I assume. Based on every player available, defense included, they probably thought he wasn't gonna suck. We took Werner because of a need, not BPA, look how that turned out.
I see no one here saying this kid sucks.
probably Werner was BPA for Grigson?
-
The Colts were beaten by the Pats due to several factors. One of them was the fact that nobody was getting open. At all.
right but we also lost to the pats, steelers and some other teams because our Defense couldn't stop the run. And to hope that some mid or late round draft picks can solve all problems and develop into pro browlers is just dumb. sorry grigson is gambling too much!

Evidently, the teams do not think as highly of Landon Collins and Malcom Brown as the "experts"
Well the Patriots do and they won the Bowl last year... just saying...
