At this point, put Sam in. Hell find Painter, Minshew is out of gas this season
I don’t mind the throw away on 1st. It’s better than him forcing something.
I don’t like the high passes & his delay in getting the ball. When QB’s do that it gives the defense a better opportunity to time up a sack

They are sending way too many rushers on 3rd and long. There is no need to do that.
It’s just weird to me that every time just checks down 24/7 against us & still somehow marches down the field.
Man the RB & zone the rest if needed

Bradley is my least favorite coordinator in a long time. He’s right up there with Pep Hamilton. He doesn’t know how to put his guys in position to win. It doesn’t help that we don’t tackle at all.

Well that’s a big blow.
We have a chance to see how the corners will look without Kenny in the event we don’t resign him this offseason.

What was once a promising Tight end group has really let us wanting and needing more. Mallory is still the shiny penny of the group and I’m happy we have him. Just thinking how much different AR would have used this group and certainly how much different it will be next year.
Mallory has been coming on as of late. It’s too bad Granson & Mallory are the same player because they run pretty solid routes & can catch.
We’ll definitely need to upgrade this offseason. Woods has been a major disappointment this year after such a promising rookie year

Definitely.
Dolphins beating Ravens would be nice this weekend.
I see the Chiefs beating the Bengals this week, so that should help give them 8 losses. It’s likely that at least one other team (Houston, Pittsburgh, or Denver) has 8 losses to give Colts the tiebreaker

Updated OP and above
Can anybody chime in on this? Based upon the above updates standings..
If Colts win & the Steelers, Bengals, & Texans all lose - aren’t we almost assuredly getting a spot even with a loss next week?
All the teams would be 9-8 at best. We would have the best conference record & divisional record over the Texans.

Am I correct that if Titans beat Texans and Colts win Sunday texans are pretty much eliminated from the playoffs? With bills having 6 losses seems Texans would have 8 and could not get in.
Do we need ravens to beat dolphins so that bills and dolphins game means something? I guess it will mean something to dolphins either way but colts kind of need bills with a 7th loss. I guess it doesn’t matter too much if we don’t win the last two games.I do believe we could eliminate the Texans this week with a win & Texans loss.
However, it’s becoming more & more likely that we are only fighting for the 7th & final spot.
Cleveland and Buffalo/Miami are likely to get the 5th & 6th seeds.
If we lose this week, it’s almost assuredly over for us.

I firmly believe, our struggles running the ball, has a lot to do with only operating from the shotgun formation, and never running the ball from under center. Steichen looks like he always wants to pass the ball first, hoping to get out to a comfortable lead, before he will ever commit to running the ball.
Two weeks ago, when we got out, to enough points ahead of the Steelers, Steichen called a huge amount of consecutive running plays, using our two backup RBs (Sermon and Goodson), where most of which, if not all, he had Minshew up under the center. This drive was highly effective, and probably was the best our running game has looked all year.
One of the biggest problems with Frank Reich's scheme was he always ran from shotgun, and now, our current running game, of late, is looking very similar.
Watching the 49ers, I noticed how good their running attack is. When they run, it's primarily from under center. Shanahan has them line up and he runs it... Granted they have McCaffrey, but there is no reason Jonathan Taylor should not have success, if the Colts would just get back to more basic, hard nosed, running plays
I understand, the current offense was designed to have Richardson at QB, and it probably would work better with him back there, but he's out till 2024 so we have GM and JT
It's too early to say, and I hate to think, but I'm becoming more and more convinced, SS's systems downfall may end up, his insistence on running his offense entirely from the shotgun.
This!! I’ve been saying this same thing for years. Taylor is NOT nearly as effective out of the shotgun. His ability with that running head start to make those cutbacks with a QB under center helps make him elite. Out of the shotgun, he doesn’t have any momentum. & it doesn’t help our right side of the line has been very inconsistent lately with blocking.
I understand it fits his offense. But, the tape has shown this for the past 3 years.

well that is likely the ball game. Total cluster …. job

We haven’t lost when we scored 21 or more, don’t think we get there. Our O scoring points actually keeps our small and fast D off the field to be most efficient. If we’re trailing, it’s not the type of game our D wins, down 2 scores
Well we are going to need to score 24 to win at the least. 2 more TD’s & a stop or two

I want two things from the defense this off-season, better tacking and to learn what a screen pass is.
I’m beside myself. I just can’t understand for the life of me. It’s as if we are intentionally letting this happen. It’s embarrassing & we look like a college team

Hmmmm… Bad leaders on this team.
Good chance to make the playoffs and just coming out flat. So odd
What is weird… this has happened the last 3 coaching staffs. It’s consistent with this franchise
Love Shane but it seems like this every year

I’m just confused… it does almost seem like this stuff is set up. We are playing high school football. Intentionally paying 10+ yards off the ball…
We are hitting inside holes when they do outside zone runs. Makes no sense & i don’t know why Gus is here…

Especially if Houston & Jacksonville lose as well!
That’s not the point tho. They should smack Atlanta. They just lost the worst team in football. They have a backup QB, a bad OLINE, etc.
Yet, we can’t do anything against them. Our OLINE has played worse today than against Cinci & our defense is acting like they sold out by giving up every underneath pass lol

What are we doing here?? No pass rush or pass D. Receivers are dropping passes.
Is it or me or does it seem like our franchise has had the worst luck?? We always have to play much harder to overcome dumb things that should never happen

This is fireable. Does Gus not watch tape & learn?

Which means most likely
Next week will be very interesting & clarify a lot.
1.) Browns/Texans is an interesting one. I’m not so sure we shouldn’t be rooting for the Texans to win. We will need to win Week 18 anyways. Regardless, one team has to lose so it helps us somewhat.
2.) I don’t think Jacksonville loses to Carolina or Tennessee (Levis may sit the rest of year too). With Lawrence possibly out (& Jags looking subpar), the Buccaneers have a legit shot to win next week. Our division hopes likely come down to next week IMO
3.) Steelers/Bengals is another interesting one. We should root for the Steelers to win. However, even if the Bengals win, it at least eliminates the Steelers from the conversation.

To have any shot, Colts have to beat Houston, and for AFC tie breakers, they need to also beat the Raiders. Colts should win vs Atlanta, really, they should, so basically, we are realistically looking at closing out with three wins, which puts us in the playoffs. Do that and have Jags lose to Tampa, then the Colts win the division!
As I see it, for the Colts to legitimately belong in the playoffs, nothing short of winning their three remaking games is acceptable. If they can’t win all three, then they just don’t belong in the playoff dance.
Fingers crossed. Go Colts!
They should go 2-1 yes. 3-0 would put us at 8-1 in a nine game stretch. I think we can do it. That’s impressive as heck for any team no matter the opponent.
Imagine starting 8-1. Even at 7-2. We’d be the talk of the league. It just happens to be at the back half of the schedule, so it doesn’t get talked about.

He will probably play.
It’s weird how the Colts players seem to NEVER get cleared or played. But most other teams seem to.
I don’t know if our independent neurologists are stricter, our players are more honest/cautious with symptoms, etc

I don’t know what it is with our luck.
1.) Vikings up 2 TD’s - somehow fumble the game away.
2.) Bears up 10 points in the 4th. Currently, fumbling the game away
3.) Titans up 2 scores & almost gave the game away. Now, they have to fight in OT.
i can see one game but ALL 3

There was no pass rush. He had 6-7 seconds.
man we needed that penalty! Good job D on staying grounded there. If Franklin doesn’t see it, they run that all the way up for a TD
