  1. Nice read from a personal Pats fan.  I will say none of this would have came out if them balls weren't considered "deflated".  Now that Brady and BB deny any involvement things like this make them look guilty as heck imo.  Of course a Patriots fan is going to disagree.  I thought it was a pretty crazy statistic though.  The NFL will do the investigation and the truth will come out.  It's only a matter of time.

I dont take much away from either set of numbers, other then they can be made to say what you want, if you are looking for them to say something in particular. One set eliminates dome teams, and one set eliminates dome games. Small difference, huge shift in the outcomes.

  2.

While some have suggested that the underinflation could have happened naturally because of the cold weather, a Boston College physicist told the Boston Herald, "If the footballs were notably lower pressure, then the only way it could have happened was if someone went in and stuck a needle in the ball and let two-thirds of the gas out, which means it is now up to the NFL to follow the chain of command — but no logical physics can explain the kind of pressure loss they’re talking about."

Actually, two posters from here, one a mod, along with myself, did the math. The temperature drop alone would account for 1 to 1.3 psi drop. You are free to believe what you want, but read what was stated "notably". What is notably? 2 psi? 3? The "reports" now are it was 1 to 1.5 psi, which falls in line with the physics.

For every news article post that you can find that disputes it, I can find one that says its possible.

It really all depends on how much the balls were underinflated. Original reports were 2, which, based on that, that article i correct, physics could not explain that drop. If its 1 psi, as is now bring stated, then it can.

Problem is the nfl screwed the pooch. They never recorded the psi's, so no one knows if its 2, 1.5 or 1.

  3.

According to the NFL  that is exactly what happened .   11 outta 12

Are you a physicist ?    So what your saying is you can't believe the Colts balls were properly inflated ?

Once again according to the NFL .. All 12

IMO I will feel mistrust for anything the NFL says about deflategate , To put it simply it was a small thing until the Patriot organization tried to cover it up .

Cheaters do prosper especially the Patriots over & over again .  Jus sayin

But the league never said the colts balls never deflated. They said they were still in the allowable range. This is a minor but important distinction. One set of balls can fall from 12.5 to 11.5 and be out of the allowed psi, and the other set can go from 13.5 to 12.5 and still be in the allowable range.

    And I was a chemist..is that close enough? :)

  4.

Blandino  says it was illegal and Solder's TD should have been called back because Fleming went from eligible on previous play to ineligible on the Solder TD and did not sit out a play.  That's an infraction that the refs missed. And an alignment that confused the Colts D and allowed the TD.

Pete Carroll did not miss it at all and called Blandino.  Because of that, the Refs will now use a brand new signal created just for the Super Bowl when Players are declared not only eligible, but ineligible.  and that way there can be no confusion to Refs and defenses when a players switches without reporting or sitting out a play.

There was an issue on that play where on the previous play, (Cameron) Fleming had reported as an eligible player,” Blandino told reporters in Arizona. “And on the Solder touchdown he went back to playing an ineligible position. That’s illegal. That’s an illegal substitution.

You are totally correct. But I put that down to poor execution by the pats (and ultimately the refs), then a deliberate attempt to circumvent the rules. BB would of been peeved if that was called back cause some player forgot to come off the field.

  5. Actually, the fact that it was 11 makes the explanation for it even MORE justified...if it was just one ball then it would be an isolated incident, which is even more questionable. Since it was nearly all the balls, all exposed to the same conditions, it makes perfect sense that they would all be affected the same way.

As for the fumble stat, that's just circumstantial evidence and has no influence on this at all.

The fumble stat is badly massaged data. Before the graphs were produced, they removed all dome teams. Thats a flawed assumption. They should of removed all dome games, not teams.

  6. I was referring to all the different reports and so called sources that have come from both sides of the fence. There have been untold amounts of people who have these sources that have no names. A lot of people have opinions and theories that in fact have all of a sudden been labeled sources. I spoke my opinion in earlier post and don't care to debate or argue about them any longer. We are all in a wait and see mode at this point so all this banter back and forth is exactly that. It serves no purpose but to cause conflict. I crawled out of that mindset and refuse to fall back into it when I realized that too many on both side do nothing but argue. If a Patriot fan comes into the forum with nothing but the intentions of just aggravating then it's off to the ignore room for them. There have been a few so called new Patriot fans who have changed names and or started new names with the intent just to cause friction. I am going to wait and see the finale results before making anymore comments.

Its the nature of the news media. They need to be relevant in the football story of the year. Each has their "source", and will run with what they are told. As fans, naturally, we are going to concentrate on the "news" that favours our side of the story. The bar for using unnamed source is low for both the media and ourselves at times.

Some people have a driving need to be right. They will argue black is white, and when you finally give up and agree, they will argue the shade of white. I have tried, mostly successfully, to not argue opinion. Its about as useful as trying to get a 3 year old to clean their room. I have had some good conversations with many Colts fans here about this subject.

I said it before to someone, my weakness is I do like the debate, the back and forth, so at times I come across as very argumentative. Heck, you could pick a subject, tell me which side you want me to argue, and I would be a happy camper. When I'm wrong, I'll say so. Mostly :).   I don't need to be right, I like it when I am tho!

Looks now we may hear the outcome of the "investigation" sometime around..the draft :) I guess we can pick it up then.

  7. I have no problem with your response. I just figured you were defending the owner of your team. My comment was made because it is common knowledge that Goodell and Kraft have a closer relationship than what an employer should have with an employee. It's called conflict of interest for most. Another point I would like to make is since when does opinion and or rumor become a source?

Its all good. Alot of ppl have been going on about the picture of them a couple weeks back, so I did jump to the conclusion thats what you were specifically referring to, and not the relationship in general.

Before I jump to another (possibly wrong) conclusion, I dont get the gist of your last question/point. Can you elaborate?

  8. It's simple math.

If the Colts footballs were compliant before the game, the MOST they could have been inflated is 13.5 PSI. We know that the Colts footballs were compliant before the game, and we know that they were compliant at halftime.

The Patriots footballs reportedly "lost" at least 2 PSI by halftime.

If the Colts footballs had lost a similar amount of pressure by halftime, they would not have been compliant at halftime. They would have lost around 2 PSI, and would have measured in at 11.5 PSI, out of compliance.

Supposedly Mort is backing off that 2 psi story now, and is reporting the 1 psi..go figure. Its a greek tragedy.

  9. I posted a link to the hourly temperatures but I've copy/pasted again http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KOWD/2015/1/18/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA

They are obviously blowing their own horn and using deflategate to try and drum up some business, but interesting none the less.

  10. Who says you have to cheer for anyone and just watch football. I do it all the time. Sometimes I might start rooting for one team or another at halftime or 4th qtr or maybe not.  I guess it depends on why you watch football.

For football or the soap opera :)

I usually end up cheering for the team that is behind...go figure.

  11. Ahh .. you're right that was Go Pats. I get all you goofballs mixed up. I guess I'm old..... and goofy also.

Aint nothing wrong with old. I'm right there with you. Half the time I gotta correct my posts cause my 2 YO grandson came over and banged on some keys :)

  12. I didn't say that this whole list that bothered me. I was just saying .. geez . when is this going tho end ?  To be honest , the one that really bothered me was the injury faking. Especially when it cost us the game where W. M. stopped Edge and that gave NE HFA and may have really altered the outcome of that season. Faking injuries was no doubt cheating and I have no doubt that they were faked. That said , spy gate never bothered me that much and I'm holding judgement on the deflation. The Blount issue and formation thing is no big deal to me. I'll take the no comment on the Blount salary to mean you kind of give up on that one ? But anyway , you should be happy that your team id playing Sunday and I don't doubt they were the best in the AFC. I guess me stance in the deflation thing is I think you have both an arrogant HC and owner also. That makes me look at this issue with a little disdain before I know all the facts.

I was not in on the Blount discussion, so I'll let you fight that out with him :)

My opinion on Blount tho, is that he was never told there was a spot if he managed to get out. But it was a low risk move. Be a jerk. He either gets cut, or gets benched. If he gets benched, then he has the big salary, and easy season. Probably cut in the off season.

If he gets cut, there were a few teams that could use a back. He was probably sure he would get an offer.

  13.

That said , I have no idea if and who he may have talked to from NE . Maybe nobody ? Dunno. I just posted the link to the story. I probably should have been "softer" with the title of the thread. I really did look at it and say to myself.. "does this crap ever end ?" Just seems like one thing after the other. Spygate , defaulted footballs , players faking injuries vs the Colts no huddle (the Willie M. dive and subsequent tackle of James was disgusting ) pushing the limit with formations ... just one thing after the other. If you don't believe the "jealous .. persecution thing" which I don't , you have to say "what the heck is going on here ?

Not as long as we have a media that is driven by clicks.

The biggest issue I have with this particular post is you have the list of stuff that bothers you..you can divide into two categories. The "gates", and the rest, which is on field things.

Being disgusted with the gates is quite reasonable. I'm kinda fed up with them myself.

I don't know of a rivalry where a fan of one team doesn't accuse a player on the other side of faking an injury at one time or another, or other such on field shenanigans.  Maybe if you step back and break them up, the pats could seem a bit less evil?

  14. I don't really care about the Manning/Brady debate either.  It's impossible to come to one final concrete answer.  I have my opinion on it, just like everyone else will have their opinion.  In these kinds of things, when people pick a side, they usually then become too stubborn to accept the other side or even consider it.  So I don't worry about people debating Peyton vs. Brady

So to help decide in this decision, try this thought experiment.

Imagine yourself in a Pats jersey.

Imagine yourself in a Seahawks jersey.

    Which makes you less....ill.

    :)

Edit, not sure why I quoted you..I meant to quote the OP.
