  1. No apologies need....   but thanks...

I just read the ESPN story and it says the Redskins -- at least for now -- still view RG3 as part of their future.

My initial reaction was that if they're serious about that,  then I think they're crazy.

My guess is RG3 starts the countdown to forcing his way out of town....  either by trade,  or getting released.

And with so much invested (4 draft picks)  I think that's a big deal.....

Not sure I follow. The draft picks have been long gone. This is year three and RG is not the franchise guy they thought when they drafted him.

Are they supposed to continue to play him just because? The goal is to win and McCoy looked very good vs Dallas a few weeks ago so I think they are making the right move now to see what they have in his kid and if he can be their guy next season.

It has been obvious from the last few weeks for anyone following the Redskins that management did not think RG was the guy. Gruden basically said as much when he ripped his game apart prior to last Sunday's game.

  2. with 5 games to play, Peyton Manning is 1,735 short of 70,000 career yards

    That's 347 yards a game...

Only Brett Farve (71,838) has more

Denver's final game is a home game against Oakland

He could get half that vs Oakland.  :)

  3. I will agree on the GM, but disagree with the quarterback. Flacco gets the job done in big games, Ryan does not.

Is that your only judging stick? Flacco's post-season numbers were not very good prior to 2012. The team was largely carried by Rice and the defense. And even in 2012, the defense only let up on average 14 points vs Luck, Brady, Manning. But Flacco had a really nice run. So he does have that to his credit.

If I had the choice between the two, I would choose Ryan easily. I think you are further seeing Joe's mediocre ability now that his defense is not as dominant. He was pretty bad last year too.

  4. Because most teams don't risk injuring players by scoring meaningless TD's when the game can be ended by taking a knee or two. It's also considered to be "rubbing it in." Hope that helps.

So by that logic  was Aaron Rodgers risking his team when he dropped 50+ on the Bears and Eagles? Or how about Manning when he dropped 41 on Oakland?

I think you need to grow up. This is the NFL. All teams routinely score and score at will. This season may set the record for most blowout victories. Yet, only the Lions seem to have issue with it and they were not beaten nearly as badly as some other teams this season.

  5. I have never understood why a team that is getting crushed all game has so much issue with the last score. Did Detroit feel good about letting up the 27 prior to the two minute warning? What is it about the final drive in which the Pats ran the ball and even went for a fourth down earlier in the drive instead of kicking a longer FG and converted only to have Detroit use its timeouts to extend the game that somehow threw them over the edge when the Pats lined up for a FG on 4th and goal from the 2? And why didn't they have that mentality to start the game? Perhaps than it would have still been a ball game by half time.

  6. The Ravens blew the whole team up and they went 8-8, and now 7-4 this year. Atlanta has been designated a contender last year, and what is going on this year ? Ryan has also had better receivers over the years.

Atlanta has been steadily declining for the past few seasons. Smith is not a good coach either. Ozzie is a also a MUCH better GM than Dimitroff. Turns around begin with the GM and coach. Ravens have that in spades over the Falcons despite having the worse QB.

  7. They have everything but a QB. Not saying they're a great roster, but what other real problems do they have? And how many of those problem areas might have been addressed with the draft picks they gave up for Griffin?

I think whatever issues they have could be fixed in just a couple of offseasons, if that. But the QB isn't what they thought he'd be, so they need to have an above average to great supporting cast to do anything special.

No they don't. Their lines are horrible. Winning starts there.

  8. The 2009 pick 6 was completely irrelevant because the Colt defense folded after Freeney left the game.  The Saints scored on every possession so there is no reason whatsoever to believe they would not have driven and kicked a field goal had the Colts managed to score a touchdown..  Brees talks about that in their "America's Game" episode.

Wow. That is quite the defeatist attitude.

  9. I have been reading through the threads on Denver and was wondering if people thought that Denver got exposed by NE ?

Heading into that game, Denver was favored in Foxboro, only a handful of teams in the past 13 years have ever been favored in Foxboro ...

Even though there were some that thought the Patriots would win given their success vs Manning in Foxboro, not sure anyone saw that game coming, least of all Denver !

It seems as though their struggles have continued since then. Even vs Oakland Manning had a couple of picks early before pulling away in the second half. And the Rams game looked very similar to the NE game with the Denver offense struggling again and the defense being beaten by Shaun Hill.

  10. http://www.denverpost.com/klis/ci_26946845/undefined?source=infinite

Interesting piece from Klis of the Denver Post on the star players the Broncos are currently negotiating with that will be FAs at season's end. This includes the two Thomas', Chris Harris, Terrance Knighton, Orlando Franklin, Rahim Moore and Wes Welker.

Klis makes the point that the Broncos spend a lot on FAs and then ask their own guys to take a little less in exchange for years/security. He also raises the point that in-season contract talks can be distracting to a team that needs complete unity as it tries to win a Super Bowl. A "me" vs "us" attitude can develop he says.

What are people's thoughts? I tend to agree with him but Elway I am sure has his price for each player and will let some of the guys walk. I agree with him also that Demarius will most likely be franchised.
