  1. The gist is this: low risk for us, high pay in a short period of time for the FA (~20+ mill a year). Almost like mortgaging for a super bowl run, except after 1 year, if things don't pan out, at worst we don't resign. Won't cost us future cap room, draft picks, or any current players. Also, gives us a chance at a Super Bowl.

While we may be many pieces away from a Super Bowl, if we get Suh and Houston the Super Bowl is easily for us to lose. 1-2 ELITE players will drastically turn around any defense.

e.g. restructure RJF and Walden. Release Landry, Thomas, Richardson. Resign Nicks and Bradshaw to cheap 1-2 year deals. Draft well this year.

Suh - 1 year, 27 million (his age, he can't pass that up :D )

Houston - 1 year, 22 million (a million for each sack, he can't pass that up :) )

It'll be contract years for both, Super Bowl run for us. Both are only 26-27, so they still can negotiate a long term contract when they're 28. We can all go 11-5, 12-4, even 14-2 every season, like the Patriots have been the past 10 years, but at the end of the day, 8-8 teams like the Giants have 2 rings the past decade while they only have 1. Might as well dive in head-first for one, at low cost to us, and low cost to the players above.

Worst case scenario - we go 12-4, don't win the Super Bowl, both players leave for greener pastures, but they have changed the defense culture of this team.

    no

  2. nothing really makes me think that. we needed help at RB though, he could have been better than tipton and TR. possibly better than herron too.

also anything to keep him from NE. i dont know what his contract was, i imagine it was not all that expensive

But they put in pretty much anyone in that line and they do well vs the colts

  3. Is that any different that the Patriot reporters saying the Patriots did nothing wrong before the finale results are out? What real journalist? Patriot journalist? Or you? Maybe iy would be possible to find out the finale results before assuming anything. Lets see what you do and what you say if and when the Patriots are called out for the deflated footballs. The NFL and Goodell have made no comments one way or another. It's all speculation by the media. At least your not deflecting the issue with what some Patriots fans are doing. And that is deflecting the issue with bringing what other teams might have did or didn't do. That is the favorite thing to do when the heat is turned on.

Plus their guys are creating their own ending as much as colts fans in this forum are in the past week. Wait till the real investigation is actually over.

  4. As I said, NE has averaged 40+ points per game in the last 4. Given the added motivation as a result of the overblown deflategate nonsense, I could see the Pats gaining a comfortable lead and then continuously going for it on 4th down when they reach the 50, going for 2 point conversions, using trick plays, etc.

They will make it a point to embarrass Indy.

They won't because Indy should be getting better every year. If they score 50-60 in Indy, that's say something about the GM/coaching.
