  1. I think fans see what they want to see and not nessasarily what is actually happening. Foster has made a hand full of plays in his career, but most of the time he was completely blown off the line by his opponent. I don't completely blame Foster. He has been playing out of position every since he's been here. No way that guy should have ever lined up at DT, he was WAY too small to play there. If he truely is up to 295 now like he claims, I would be interested to know if that is actual muscle or if its just because he's been very inactive for the last several months. I've said before I wished the other D-lineman had his heart and desire, but he, himself was never an NFL caliber DT.

I coach football, and I would take a guy like him anyday. Look at Warren Sapp, he wasn't ideal NFL size either, but that didn't stop him did it? The fact of the matter is that stat junkies live and die by measurables and molds, football guys like football players regardless of size or shape. Eric Foster is a football player, plain and simple. Since you're writing off guys that aren't "prototype"...

    - Joe Montana: too small, not enough arm strength

    - Tom Brady: too small, not enough arm strength

    - Jerry Rice: too slow to be a real threat

    - Dwight Freeney: too small, will be overwhelmed by larger Tackles

    - Barry Sanders: too small, won't hold up physically

Should I stop there?! I could go all day.

  2. I don't agree. Foster has always been completely overated by Colts fans(just like many of the other guys on the roster). People are in love with his "motor" and I get that, but he is not and never has been NFL caliber. He is a try hard guy, but the NFL is not a try hard league. I do agree that the Colts will not play a full blown 3-4 all the time, but the players they keep will have to be the best at their position on the team and Foster is not one of those guy's.

C'mon! The dude makes plays whenever he's in the game. Give him some credit.

  3. Guys, you only need massive bulk to play a "true 3-4", which most teams don't really run. I'm sure we'll employ a 3-4 type look from time to time, but there won't be a ridiculous overhaul...

...and there's ALWAYS room on ANY teams roster for a guy like Foster who's a solid, relentless pass rusher.

  4. Calling Peyton Mannings safety blanket overrated is comical. He might not be the most physically dominating TE in the league but he runs great routes and catches everything.

Sorry but why are we calling our players overrated again?

I'm sorry, but Clark dropped A LOT of passes thrown his way this year. He's also dropped his fair share of critical 3rd down conversions over the years. And I don't care what anyone says, he doesn't hold up well in pass blocking at all. Why else do you think he was pulled on 3rd and long all of this year, to be substituted by Brody Eldridge?! Without Peyton running the show Dallas Clark is average at best. And given what he's being paid, he definitely didn't earn his paychecks this year. To me, that would make him pretty overrated.

  5. and 99.9% of that was the Polians who are no longer here.

Frankly Irsay has proven to be extremely honest when he says things, probably too honest at times.

With that said if you don't believe him nothing says you have too.

I did think about the fact that Bill was the master manipulator, but I do believe that Irsay, as much as he's a geniune guy, has learned a thing or two from Bill. I guess only time will tell.

  6. We can't cut Wayne, Saturday, Gonzo, Tamme, or Lacy they are free agents we would just simply not resign them.

I think this thread was asking "who should we keep and cut?" I don't think the point was to analyze everyone's post and attempt to correct them. Besides that, you didn't even answer the question...

I think we'll cut Brackett, Bullitt, Clark (as much as it pains me to say, but he's been REALLY inconsistent as of late), Sims, and quite possibly Addai too.

  7. I think the Colts need to get better on the interior of the line, both on offense and defense. I have not seen very effective guard play from what is on the current roster, but that could be due to coaching. I am not sure if Pollack is any better at center than he was at guard.

It's been quite apparent the we need to bulk up at the guard position. As far as Pollack, I believe he will be retained and start at Center (providing Saturday doesn't return, of coarse). Remember, he was one of the top prospects at his position when he came out. I believe we're good to go at the Tackle position. After that it's just obtaining some quality depth.

  8. because other than your opinion it has never been established that he was drinking on the job. Irsay admitted he had a problem with pain pills not drinking.

I never said you couldn't have an opinion, and I am entitled to mine as well which was that it was a shot and it was uncalled for. If you want to play the your entitled to your opinion card it works both ways. I also have a right to ask you to provide proof to back up your statement. So far you have provided that you feel his words were slured in the 90's. Sorry I don't think that's good enough if you are going to say someone is drinking on the job.

Also I don't have to be his PR guy to not like seeing people taking unfair shots at our owner. Is everyone who rushes to the defense of Peyton Manning here anytime someone says Brady is better than him his PR guy too?

:) I hope you have a great day! Now run along and go pick an unecessary fight with someone else.

  9. So because in your opinion he was drinking in the 90's it some how means he is drinking now. Even if you are right about him drinking in the 90's he sure wasn't slurring his words in these interviews so yes it was an attempt at a low blow. If you are going to say something along the lines of "I hope he isn't drinking on the job again." it's not asking you too much to provide some proof and just because Irsay slurred words 15 to 20 years ago is NOT proof he's doing it now. Irsay had demons and he delt with them in a very public way and frankly I think it is a low blow to go after him for it because you don't happen to like what he might be doing with his franchise.

"I hope he isn't drinking on the job again."

How is that insulting or taking a low blow on someone?! Especially since Irsay has publicly admitted he had a problem! Unless you're his PR guy, which I doubt you are as often as you're on here, stop trying to stir things up! I'm entitled to my thoughts and opinions, and I certainly have every right to question the state of mind of someone who I give my hard earned money to (tickets, jerseys, hats, etc.).

  10. Oh good night...really?

First of all it was his dad who had the problem with drinking not him. Jim Irsay did have an issue but it was painkillers and he delt with it. If you want to take a shot at Irsay for tweeting okay go for it but do we really need to try for the low blow?

No blows at all. I type the truth. Granted Robert was the alcoholic, but you don't remember those interviews from the 90's where he was slurring up a storm?! Percocet doesn't affect your ability to speak clearly.

Can't find them anywhere, I did find this quote from a recent interview when asked about his 10+ year drinking habit:

“I’ve spilled more than you drank, put it that way.” - Jim Irsay

  11. You can tell that he hangs around with the players a lot. He used the filler words "you know" and "um" in most of his sentences

I love the guy, but he needs to step out of the spotlight, stop tweeting his every thought, and run this team like a professional.

  12. was he the reason peyton got his neck hurt? good luck eli

Umm...no dude. It all began at that Redskins game a couple years ago when guys came from the right side of the offense and his body was bent backwards awkwardly. Tony Dungy brought it to the medias attention that that was where it happened. He lost feeling in his right arm for a few seconds, called a timeout, told Sorgi to warm up, then came back to throw 5 TD's in the 2nd half.

  13. I'm to the point now where I don't even want Peyton back on this team next year. The biggest reason I say that is because I want us as a franchise to prove we are more than just one man. I want us to succeed beyond Peyton to SHUT all these ESPN analysts up when they continue to keep bashing the Colts as of late. I want us to start anew with Luck and have the money we save from not signing Peyton to go out and get very good players in FA to help turn this team around soon.

Your thoughts on my take on this?

And I'm to the point where I want to tell ungrateful fans to keep their negativity to themselves. Peyton dug this franchise out of depths of the leagues pitiful teams that historically get bashed for being perennial losers. Aside from 1995 and the Manning era, we as Colts fans have endured MANY losing seasons. Peyton Manning has done more for this franchise than any other player in history, he is an icon, and those aren't the kind of players you just dump like yesterdays garbage. And I've got news for all of the "Dump Manning, start over with Luck" people; There are ZERO guarantees in taking a player based on expectations, just look at Ryan Leaf, Jeff George, Tim Couch, David Carr, and all of the other "can't miss" prospects who never panned out. Nobody knows what the future holds, but show a little more respect for the guy whose been the Micheal Jordan of football for over a decade...just saying.

  14. I don't have a link, but last I read, he was talking retirement... It's pretty sad. I definitely thought he was a great team player with a high motor, and I hope he makes a full recovery.

  15. The funny thing about this to me is that 2 years ago Irsay was SO determined to make Peyton the highest payed player in history...even though Peyton has publicly said that he would prefer a smaller contract to help shape the roster with talent on defense.
