  1. I think the following will happen:

    1) The Redskins will be tripping over themselves getting Andrew Luck in as their #2 pick as soon as possible.

    2) The Colts sign Tim Tebow as back up QB for RG3 to continue the running philosophy you think they are implementing.

    3) All the Luck-haters will not know what to do with their "Who Needs Luck When We Have Manning" T-shirts.

I don't actually think this will happen, it's just a "what if?" scenario. But #3 is exactly what would happen.

  2. Just so you know. Andrew luck is right there with cam on athletic wise. Can dig up the links if others haven't read the same. So no, don't see it happening at all. Like manning, luck has been prepped for this since childhood. Rg3 had one breakout year. Pass

Luck doesn't run a 4.3. Enough said. If you actually read my post, I don't think the senario likely.

  3. You would think so, but NFL coaches try to play guys out of position all the time, with poor results. Like the Raiders moving Sapp to five-tech end. Or even last year in San Diego, Manusky used Antonio Garay as a 2-gap tackle, when he's better as a 1-gap tackle. The Chargers defense took a huge step backward. That's not the only reason, but it's part of it. And the guy responsible for that is our coordinator now.

Part of the reason NFL coaches play guys in different positions is because it's hard to find the prototypical 2-gap 3-4 linemen that they want, so they take guys with talent and try to force them into a different position. Sometimes it works (Antonio Smith), and other times, it's not effective (Garay).

To be fair, Manusky was running the defense as a part of his HC's or organizations scheme. Plus, coordinators don't make the call on who plays where, that's on their HC or GM (which is the likely senario in SD).

  4. Let's be real; Grigson loves athletic players (Vick, Young, Jackson, etc.) and with the success of Cam Newton, it isn't out of the realm of possibility. RG3 won the Heisman, he's got a great attitude and work ethic, plus players rally around him in a pinch. I'm not saying that I don't think the same of Andrew Luck, but it's a new era of Colts football and a pocket passer might not be our direction. Think about it; a stout defense (which is in the building process), and an electrifying QB that could create a big play at any given moment= success at any level.

Our defense won't be cured over night, but it all begins with the players attitudes and the coach and his scheme that lead them to whatever success they have. Pagano is a players coach with a great & creative defensive mind. Don't think this will be Manusky's defense. It's Pagano's, and he'll have the reigns. I forsee big things from this unit next season.

Offensively, our philosophy would lean on the run more often and I think Donald Brown will have breakout season regardless of which QB we draft. If RG3 were in that mix it would increase our running potency tenfold. Not to mention our down-field potential in the passing game would benefit from it too. I'm not saying that this will happen, but what if?

    Thoughts?

  5. Coming from a football coach, no. Nevis isn't a 3-4 DE. He's a 4-3 under tackle that has the ability to play the 3 technique like a Warren Sapp. He'll be great in pass rush situations in the Nickel and Dime packages, but he'll just get pushed around even as a 1 gap 3-4 DE. I'm sure Pagano and Manusky realize that too.

  6. Clearly we have no plan that's etched in stone.

No rebuiding plan would include a 34-year-old WR and a 31-year old converted DE - LB

But I'm okay with that because I think a franchise has to be respectable every year.

You cant just put all ponies out there...You need to give the fans some REAL Colts...

I"d like Freeney and Saturday to come back with Wayne and Mathis.

Its important not to just write off 2012

You dont bring in new players or win fans with the slogan

    "We're the Colts!!

    You're just a hater!

We dont care about this year!!"

    Check back with us later!!!"

Sorry man, but you're wrong. They're bringing in guys that fit their "team 1st" system. You need veterans to lead by example to sell the system to younger players. That's what the plan is.

  7. Now that we're getting a new QB here soon, does anyone like me think Brown's numbers will raise pending that we keep him? Peyton was not mobile by any means and would hand the ball off pretty slow. Now that Brown doesn't have to block as much do you think there is going to be a pick up in the ground game?

I believe Donald has his break-out year this season. I'm not saying he'll lead the league in rushing or anything, but he'll shock a lot of people.

  8. I have always been told to go with my gut on important decisions in life. I haven't always done that, and when I don't, I usually find myself saying "should've gone with my gut". Obviously I have no say in Irsays decision, but my gut tells me that this isn't right thing to do. No matter what happens I'm blue and true, but like the title says, I have a bad feeling about this...

  9. Looking in to my cystal ball: Please tell me if I am reaching out here: I see Manning restructing his deal, giving the FT to Reggie, signing Garcon to a short term low end deal, giving Freeney's better 1/2 a 27 mil over 4 year deal,Saturday coming back for at lease one more year with P-Money under center. With us switching to the 3-4 Def going 12-4 and a making the play off's beat out Hou at a 11-5 record. With all this said seeing A.Luck being trained from his childhood hero?

I love it...but wrong thread bro.

  10. - My favorite moment was watching the smirk on his face grow as he was handed the Lombardi Trophy.

    - My favorite game was easily "The Monday Night Miracle".

    - My favorite throw/play was against Denver in the Divisional Playoffs when he squeezed a ball to Marv in between two defenders, Marv went down to make the catch, and while the defenders were arguing about who was supposed to cover him Marv realized nobody touched him, he got up and took it into the endzone untouched. Hilarious!

  11. Those three are pretty solid....

The icing on the cake of that 18to88 throw/catch was Harrison spiking it and it bouncing off it Vrabel's grill.. That was just perfect.

My favorite my TD run from Manning was the one vs. the Jets after already leading a 4th quarter comeback drive and having the KO returned for a TD, generating another one and scoring on the QB sneak and then Manning in a rare showing of extreme emotion spiking the ball himself in the endzone...

I absolutely loved that one too. Marv beat Ellis Hobbs on that route. Hobbs was one of the biggest * mouthy CB's to ever play the game, and Marv obviously felt the same way. Another perfect pass from "the kid" as Saturday calls him.

  12. I have no hard evidence that this will come to fruition, but the fact that we'll be shifting to a new defensive philosophy where we'll actually be aggressive and blitz leads me to believe that Phillip Wheeler will remain a Colt. When we drafted him out of GT he was one of the best blitzing LB's in college football. We forced a square peg into a round hole with him, but he came on pretty strong his last 2 years on both ST's and Defense. The kid has size, speed, and athleticism. What's not to like?!

My gut tells me that Pagano and Manusky will like this kid, and I wouldn't be suprised if he had double digit sacks next season...

  13. Maybe he could work against Linkenbach in practice so he can learn to get his feet under him.....if you catch my drift. ;)

But really he's one of the guys I would love beyond belief to get on this team. Don't know what kind of contract he might looking for though, cuz he's a BAD man.

I remember calling for Links head after that game. His protection was just as pathetic as Bill Polians confidence in him at the professional level.

  14. I want to say Channel 8 said they talked to Garcon's agent it could be Adam talked to the Colts and maybe they feel like they offered Garcon a contract. I know that's a long shot but Grigson is a first time GM so maybe he wasn't clear. It's far more likely Adam got this wrong I'll admit that.

If it is true though the Colts are pretty much left with the following options:

    Offer Garcon number one money

Focus on keeping Wayne and letting Garcon walk

Taking the money they would have spent on Garcon and go get another WR on the market

Make a move to get a WR in the draft

Work out something with Mathis now and tag Garcon.

They can't go into next season with Collie as the number one WR and White as the number two even if they keep Tamme and bring back Clark.

Crazy! We actually agree on something for once  There's no way that you can let Garcon and Wayne both walk without some kind of a replacement plan. Personally, I doubt this actually went down because Schefter has been an embarassment since he left NFL Network with his constant attempts at breaking stories that never come to fruition.
