There will be more. The guy was hated. I can't believe Irsay stuck it out this long and makes me wonder just who it is he must have found to replace him.

Says a lot when a player tweets thank god after the firing of a GM

Mcafee is going off. Grigson was hated by pretty much everyone it seems. Jvan is bout to get his proof in the coming days i have a feeling.

I think the best news here is that this was outpatient surgery.

I believe that means arthroscopic and NOT full blown surgery where they open you up.

If there's going to be surgery,  then this the best news possible.

Outpatient surgery just means they didn't spend the night in hospital. Most surgeries to athletes are outpatient surgeries. A 6 month full recovery to me seems a bit much for just a little clean up.

What's "real news" then? NFL Network, Adam Schefter, ESPN, and everyone else was reporting just over a week ago that Irsay assured Pagano that his job was safe. Then a few short days later Irsay was in Houston interviewing Gruden/Manning, so clearly, Pagano wasn't "safe." Those guys are supposed to be the creme de la creme when it comes to journalistic reliability, and they got totally scooped by an Indy radio host and a couple Twitter users.

And it's not the first time either.

Irsay's comment of being "unhappy" is something you'd expect any owner to say after the team goes 8-8.

What's he supposed to say, that he was "happy"...after everybody on every NFL team always always publicly declares at the beginning of the season that the goal is to win the Championship.

Irsay didn't make the comment, sources told Schefter he was very unahppy and that coaches feared changes were coming. And i'm not the one who is implying that Irsay really wasn't mad that the team was losing games.

"Most with any sense" who read my post can see that my point is about his demeanor, not his statement. He wasn't "beside himself" after the Houston loss......like I said, I don't care if he was "beside himself" after the Oakland loss...... I just don't believe it.

Were you around Irsay after the Houston loss?  How do you know how mad he was or wasn't? The Colts were getting embarrassed in Oakland before they injured Carr, it's not unreasonable to think the owner was more then a little ticked off.  Schefter reported the next week that Irsay was very unhappy.  You don't have to believe it.  And my remarks about the statement he made was directed at all the people here that swore up and down  that Irsay was never going to try to make changes this year based on that statement when he clearly was leaving himself an out to do just that.

I have no bias as to whether or not Grigson/Pagano stay or go.

But I don't believe this tale is based on inside information. I believe it is concocted from bits and pieces of rumor already suggested. Here's why I don't believe it:

After the 2nd Houston loss that essentially knocked the Colts out of the playoffs, Irsay gave an interview where he was composed and said there would probably be no changes. But, according to this guy, after the Oakland loss, "Irsay was beside himself".... I don't believe it. Most Colts fans including Jim Irsay expected the Colts to lose that game.

But here is this guy's most ridiculous "inside scoop":

"It seems that Jim Irsay sees Ryan Grigson as the son he never had. He always desperately wanted a son."

I personally do not care if some, or all of this story is true, but I don't believe this guy has any more inside information that we do.

I would believe that Irsay was really angry, Adam Schefter reported that he was before the last game of the season. And Irsay obviously wasn't telling the entire truth when he made that statement and most with any sense could tell he was leaving himself an out to make changes which he tried to do.

Sure, but considering that had Manning agreed to financial terms, Grigson would be on the street.  So much for the "son he never had."

I think the troubling thing is that it seems like the only way Grigson ever gets fired is if Manning finally joins the show.  He wouldn't even fire Grigson in order to land a coach like Gruden and an agreed upon GM, supposedly. If this is his line of thinking, i am a little unsure on why Irsay thinks he will ever land a "homerun" hire at HC.   Not going to happen with Grigson there.

I think the negotiations breaking down had more to do with Peyton wanting a certain % of ownership of the Colts. Irsay wouldn't give him what he wanted, so he turned the offer down.

Has nothing (or very little)  to do with what Manning thinks of irsay. If he never wanted to deal with Irsay he would have declined to even meet with him the first time, let alone multiple meet ups.

    I agree

Perhaps. And maybe Manning is perfectly fine with Irsay? Who knows?

But I can see Manning, who has a great reputation,  being a bit unsure if Irsay. Given his history.

So, if you dont buy the report that Manning is not ready...

Any ideas what killed the deal?

My guess is they couldn't work out the details of ownership. Just my guess.  I just find it a little hard to believe that this went on for as long as it supposedly did if Manning knew the entire time he wasn't even ready to take the job. He could have shot this idea down in 10 seconds the minute Irsay brought it up in November. It sounds like they were still meeting and talking just this past saturday.  All 3 of them together, that tells me it had a real chance of happening if the offers were right.

Do you know for sure if there even were any negotiations between Manning and Irsay?

    It's all speculation.

But I would not be surprised if Irsay made an offer. Manning thought it over, and then decided, Irsay is too mixed up in the head to get involved with.

Who knows what state Jim is in these days?

According to Bob Kravitz article yesterday, there were negotiations with Manning. I tend to believe this as the 2 originally started talking in November and his agent was spotted with Irsay a couple weeks ago in Indy. Then they had another meeting with Manning and Gruden in Houston last weekend. I don't believe the report Manning just wasn't ready, if you aren't ready then this discussion ends in November and this story never gets to this point.

Peyton didn't do it because he wasn't ready. JMV reported it a week or so ago. Had nothing to do with Irsay.

JMV is usually dead on, however, he is saying that the 3 all met last weekend in Houston which is after he reported Manning said he wasn't ready and that initial discussions actually occured in November.  If Manning didn't think he was ready it seems strange to me that these talks continued up until last saturday at least.  Bob Kravitz in the article he wrote yesterday flat out said there were negotiations with Manning. Maybe they were negotiating for on down the line?

  13. 8 minutes ago, RockThatBlue said:

True, but I don't think JMV was one of them. Hes been saying for 2-3 weeks that Irsay was wanting Manning and Gruden, even after that report.

Yep, and he has said the entire time that if this falls through that plan B is more of the same. So far he says he has heard nothing different.

Just seen a tweet from him too that says he was told Irsay met with Manning and Gruden last saturday in Houston. It stings to know this thing apparently had a real shot of happening.
