  1. The mistake was to bring him back this year. He should have been cut loose with Grigson.  I think Irsay wanted Gruden though and when he struck out there he felt nobody else would be an upgrade. I think the plan all along though has been Pagano would be gone at the end of this season. If that is the plan they would be smart just to fire him now, ride out the rest of the season with an interim and then try again this offseason for an upgrade at HC. I believe keeping Pagano here the rest of the year does more harm then good. I also believe after today, and after the last 2 seasons, plus this fiasco with Luck's injury, the risk of losing a good chunk of the fan base is high. A lot of fans, myself included, felt like Pagano should have been gone 2 years ago.

welp now the locker room is starting to come apart...

Wow.  That's not going to go over well. This is what happens though when you reward incompetence and stick with a coach like Pagano, If things go bad, just throw others under the bus. No different then when Chuck threw his assistants under the bus to save his job.  It all starts at the top.

But again, if the objective was just to get some points and avoid the shutout, don't you think it would have made sense to kick FGs on 4th down instead of going for it?  The Colts were in a position where they could have scored points if that was their only objective.

The objective was to get a TD. You don't kick field goals down 27.  They could have kicked a FG in the 3rd quarter if thats what they wanted to do.

  4. By keeping Chuck to finish the year you are simply rewarding incompetence and failure. Thats not a message you want to give to the fanbase or the young players on this team.  Fire him to send a message, then go out and get a real coach after the season. This is a lost season anyway.

My guess is that he is an inexperienced backup and that the thought process is that it is better for him to play than to sit on the bench.

I can't disagree more. JB had the living crap knocked out of him all game. They even had Tolzein warming up in the 3rd quarter. It was ridiculous that they put him back in that game for the last 2 minutes. It is either incompetence or Chuck trying to do whatever he can to save his job. I agree that garbage points don't mean much, but it does make the final score look a little better. Chuck will do whatever he can to save his own hide, he's thrown his assistants under the bus in the past to do so. Nothing would surprise me.

If he was just looking for a score to save his hide, don't you think it would have made sense to kick a FG on 4th down instead of going for it?  I'm not trying to put Pagano on a pedestal, but I really don't think getting a score to save his hide was his sole objective.

Then what do you think his objective was?

  7. Chuck should be fired tomorrow. If the Colts are truly concerned about fan interest as JMV has said they very much are, then i don't know how you continue on with him as head coach the rest of the year.  Those booos today were loud and those empty seats were noticeable. He's going to be fired at the end of the season anyway so why not do it now and get it over with.

Question is: Who will become the interim coach if Pagano is fired?  Chud?  That's no better in my mind!

Who cares who it is. Just get rid of Chuck. Chuck should have been fired 2 years ago. To stick with him any longer sends a message to the fan base that the Colts simply dont give a ish.

Is it bad that at this point it makes me giddy at the possibility that this may be the straw that breaks the camels back and results in Pagano getting fired??

No. You want to root for blowouts every week honestly.  This franchise will never start to recover until Pagano is gone. It's one of the reasons why i hated Irsay keeping him here as a lame duck for this season. He should have been let go along with Grigson.

See I disagree.  If Irsay was that way, we'd seen manning practicing back in 2011. I think there has been multiple small set backs along the way that they weren't expecting and they got caught with their pants down on the whole thing. If they were truly tanking this season and had planned on it, they'd kept Dorset and ran with Tolzein and ignored what the fans cried about. The trade for Brissett tells me that they were hoping to stay competitive until Luck gets back, if, and to be frank, take away the 4th quarter collapses and we are 4-1 and having a discussion of whether we truly need Luck and how awesome pagano is. But we are 2-3, barely

If there has been multiple setbacks, then the Colts and Irsay have lied repeatedly to the fans to sell tickets.  They have said time and time again there has been no setbacks. Of course Irsay would lie, he is a businessman and telling the fans the star performer of the show wasn't gonna play all year would be bad business.  And there was no way they could play Tolzein every single week without it  appearing they were blatantly tanking.  I'm not even saying the Colts are tanking this year, i just don't think they care if they win that many games. They aren't going to win very many with JB anyway.  But there was no way they could have went a whole season with Tolzein.

  11. I agree that they  planned on Luck sitting the entire year but i'm not sure about the JB part.  I don't even think they considered that until it became obvious that Tolzein was absolute trash. But Luck sitting out was always the plan in my opinion and Irsay simply lied and dangled that carrot that he would return  in front of the fan base to get them to renew season tickets and keep attending games and buying concessions. Every thing that has happened has just been a piece of the plan, from his removal from pup, to his "practice" sessions of every other day, to now his setback. And as i said the other day and as Colin also said, give it a couple weeks and he will be officially done for the year.  Was listening to Dakich on 1070 the other day and he said he was told from someone who is as close as it gets to Luck besides his own family, and he was told Luck aint playing and this was all done for ticket sales.  Apparently Dakich brought this up weeks ago as well before the "setback" even happened.

You are 100% right. The third option that a complex medical recuperation could go wrong is just outrageous. Yes, Jim needs to lie, as he is down to his last billion dollars.

Complex?  The owner called it a simple procedure. The owner said he was healing "tremendously".  The owner said he would be ready to start the season. The owner hadn't ruled him out to start the season 10 days before it started.  The owner claimed there had been no setbacks.  What does Irsay's wealth has to do with him not being honest with his fanbase, he's still a businessman and his job is to make money. If you want to keep buying the line of nonsense that he has been selling you since last winter then have at it, but this has all been predictable.

The way the organization handled the Manning situation was the template.  As they say fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on ME.

Yep. Did the same thing the year Luck lacerated his kidney.  Did not I.R. him and "hoped" he would return, just like they "hoped" Manning would return and are apparently hoping Luck will this year.  I'm sure these are Irsay calls, it's his business and he needs to make money and keep fans interested in his product. Just look at where we currently stand with Luck and remember that our owner actually left the door opened to Luck playing in week 1 just 10 days before the first game. As ridiculous as that sounds, he actually did it.  Anything for business i guess.

  14. 9 minutes ago, mahagga73 said:

Your quite naive to think it has nothing to do with it.  They are a business first and foremost.

Agreed. I said at the time they took him off PUP i thought it was for business reasons only. Same reason they will probably not put him on I.R.   They didn't put Manning on I.R. the year he never played a game either. To me though things are starting to go down just the way i thought that they might.  They take him off PUP so they don't totally lose interest before the first game is even played, then they bring him back to "practice" 2 weeks before PUP would have ended so they don't come across as totally incompetent. Now all the sudden he has a "setback" from his light throwing practice sessions that were every other day. Now they have an out so that when he misses the rest of the year they can just say with this setback he just wasn't progressing as they thought he would and this setback was totally unexpected. Nonsense.  I think that was the plan all along honestly. It's easy to see where this is headed.

Not sure I understand the accusations of Irsay lying.

Did he know Andrew's shoulder was going to be sore this week?

    It must be a conspiracy.

Irsay claimed over the winter that Luck would be ready for the season.  If Irsay wasn't sure how the process would play out, why make the statement in the first place??? Simply put, that was either a lie or Irsay talking out of his backside. The only person who put that timeline out there was Irsay. And he did it at a time when fan interest was declining rapidly and season tickets were not being renewed.  Heck, Irsay even brought up the possibility that Luck could play week 1 after the last preaseason game. Said it was a long shot but hadn't been ruled out?  What a load of nonsense.  And i don't believe for one minute this is the first setback that Luck has had, he had to have had another setback somewhere along the way even though the Colts won't tell you the truth.

  16. Good conversation from JMV on how FUBAR the handling of this injury situation has been , once again. Basically agreeing with many fans that feel they have been lied to all along. Also said he knows for a fact the Colts brass was "very concerned" with fan interest this year before the season even began.  He's getting ready to have Kravitz on to discuss this as well.  Also mentioned the need for a new voice in the organization such as team president, someone like Manning, because Irsay now days does more damage then good when he speaks. Such as saying that Luck would be ready to start the season. That was either a flat out lie to sell tickets, or just saying what he thought the fanbase wanted to hear. Either way it wasn't good and to my knowledge he was the only one to put any kind of timeline on it.
