A lot of empty seats at the game.

That will continue. There were tickets as cheap as 6 dollars. Tickets to high school games this weekend were more expensive. The Colts are predictable, play a decent half, get a lead, make no adjustments and get outcoached and outplayed and lose the game in the 4th. Thats been the norm under Pagano, only playing one half of football. Will be happy to see him fired finally at the end of this season.

    Totally agree.

In addition to the VD Wilson injury answers, I thought Ballard answered that question poorly.  He tried to say the TEXT was fabricated by stating "if you knew Andrew Luck" and talked about the flip phone.

Well, Ballard has known Luck for all of 9 months.  And the flip phone story has been known by everybody for 6 years.  To try to insinuate that DDs source was lying by using those reasons was pretty lame.

He should have just said that Luck is happy and leave it at that, instead of criticizing the text itself.  He now makes the Colts look much less credible about the friction thing.

I've often wondered if the guy who got the text was Hasselback. Works at ESPN with Dan, and if you remember Matt came out and said Luck was not close way back when everyone else was saying he was getting ready to return.I always wondered where he was getting that from.  I wondered about Mcafee too as him and DD are friends, but i'm not sure how much he and Luck communicate. I would assume he would still talk with Hasselback quite a bit though.

Let me ask you a question. Lets say Isay was wrong and said he thought Luck was going to play this season. If you want to call it a lie that's OK. Now what? You gonna whine and moan the rest of the season and on into the off season?

We all know Irsay is eccentric so what he said can be taken with a grain of salt.

You talk like you have a hatred so how far you gonna take this? Enough to quit being a Colts fan?

No. I'm going to continue to post here so you can quote me and whine to me. That sound good?

I can't decide whether Ballard sounds like an 80 year old man on the phone or Bill Clinton.

As for the interview, I was ok with it.  Yes DD is a loudmouth, but I don't think he is a guy that people hate because of it.  At least I don't.  I respect him for asking some real questions.   Ballard was a real pro in how he handled it as well.  But I do think he lied about some things.  And that is not good.  So much better to be upfront and honest then to lie and create mistrust.

I wish DD had asked him about the Colts medical staff and the plethora of injuries the Colts have suffered the past 10 years compared to other teams, and why so many injuries end up in so much drama.

I was really struck by what he said about S Morris.  For him or anyone to say that Tolzein looked better than Morris is either an outright lie....or incompetence.

With Luck, who really knows what is going in.  I tend to think Luck is getting fed up with everything, and I believe what was said about that text.

Bottom line is the Colts need to bring in either one of 2 types of coach.  A proven builder like a Harbaugh, or a young innovative offensive minded coach to hopefully help Luck achieve what he should career wise.  If they go with another Pagano type?  If I was luck I would get the heck out of Indy.

Pretty much exactly how i felt about it. DD did go at him pretty good but Ballard handled it well for the most part. But like you, i thought he was being less then truthful on a couple things, and that is when DD kinda interrupted him and probably came across as a jerk to some.

interesting, dakich talked really tough on Colts in the few times i listened oct/nov. , I mean lighting them up big time, if he held up to the pressure of having ballard on, he would have been firing shots at Colts org. right and left (not necessarily at ballard but at the whole shootin' match)....i'm more interested now than ever to hear this.

The part about the text message that supposedly came from Luck is interesting too. It is what Dakich was using as a source that Luck would not play this season and this was being done for ticket sales and he was stating that for weeks before anyone else started to pick up on it. He also offered to tell Ballard off air who the person was to help provide credibility. It is someone very close to Luck i know that because DD has stated it's as close as you can get besides family. Ballard responded that Luck only texts one and 2 word responses so it couldn't have been him. You could tell DD wasn't buying it.

Traditionally Dakich plays tough about a person on air then when he gets said person in studio or on phone, flames out and is soft.  I haven't listened yet, but I'll check out podcast and see if he's in his normal form.  Usually cringe-worthy radio

He definitely did not go soft on Ballard. Called him out on a couple inconsistencies. Called him out for saying nobody ever set a timeline on Luck, when in fact Jim Irsay did, twice. I loved the interview myself.

OK, that’s part 2, true.  But was he officially injured on the Colts medical team notes?  Was it reported to the NFL on the official injury report?  Was VD hiding his injury?

Davis gets all of his money, and Colts all of his cap hit regardless.  So do the Colts have to IR him, then cut him paying out full contract?  Or can they just cut him which they appeared to have done) like he has no injury and still be on the hook for his 9 million salary (and 1.25 million prorated bonus for cap hit)?  Interesting scenario here...

I don't believe that Davis was listed on the injury report. As for VD hiding the injury, Adam Schefter said he had been receiving treatment on the injury every single morning so if thats true i don't know how the Colts could have not known.

All he does is bash the Colts on his show, he has said stuff like Luck isn't the real deal and he loved Grigson. Grigson was the main problem here period. Has nothing to do with kissing anyone's behind, I have never heard him say anything positive at all about the Colts even in Luck's 1st 3 years.

I listen to him nearly everyday and he has said a lot of good stuff about the Colts. He has major issues with Pagano and has had them for years just like a majority of Colts fans. He also believes the Colts lied about Luck's situation this year and he blasts them for that.  Mostly though his problems have always been about the coaching and lack of leadership on this team.

Oh, I'm not fully in that category, kind of in between. I think all these issues are actually from incompetence rather than conspiracy theories.

Think about it logically.  In order for the Colt's to ignore/hide the fact they were forcing Vontae to play injured,as you implied, they would have to get not only the team doctors and staffs on board but Vontae and his agent as well.  Thats a lot of people to get on board.

It is much more likely that Vontae knowing it was a contract year, lied to the team doctors inorder to play so he could try to earn that next big pay day.

Then we don't disagree that much then, most of these issues are from incompetence. I agree with that. But then i also think the Colts make matters worse by not being truthful on many of these issues. So not only do they look incompetent, but also look like liars.  I never once said the Colts were forcing Davis to play. Davis played through injury this year and has done so in years past as well. My issue is the Colts claiming that he was never hurt, and the injury had no part in him missing the game,  The guy needs surgery, that is not something you can fake. Clearly he was hurt and hurt bad enough to need surgery and that had to have impacted his performance. Anybody who watched him this year could see something was not right, it's hard for me to believe the team had no clue he was hurt.  Incompetence is right. The Colts history in dealing with injury situations is full of incompetence unfortunately.

Wrong......  What Ballard actually said was that when the decision was made to bench Vontae for Sunday's game, it was made for non-injury reasons as at the time, Vontae was not playing well and that he was fully medically cleared by doctors.  it was not until Monday that Vontae went back to those doctors and then pulled the injury card.

He said "at no point did we ever think Vonate was hurt".  I just listened to the podcast and that was his exact quote. And he was fully cleared by doctors as of last week, didn't play Sunday, and this week the doctors recommend season ending surgery?  That's interesting.

    Regarding Dakich.....

He's not right about Luck because he knows something the rest of us don't....

He's right because even a broken clock is right twice a day....    even a blind squirrel finds the occasional acorn...

Make enough wild and crazy guesses and anyone is bound to be right every so often...

    I'm sure thats what happened.

Sat what you want about Dakich but he wouldn't get the time of day had he not coached under Bobby Knight. He couldn't even be hired as Indiana's coach when Kelvin Sampson was kicked out. In 10 years as a coach at Bowling Green he made the NIT two times and lost both times in the first round.

We all have opinions but mine is Dakich is a joke of an announcer and was a joke as a coach of any basketball team. How he is even qualified to have a job even talking is beyond me.

I never said anything about his basketball coaching, just pointing out that he nailed the Luck story.

... so he was drunk after all. lmao

I listened to the clip of Dungy and he never does say Jim Irsay told him directly that it was in Luck's head.  But Dungy does say that Irsay made those remarks when Dungy was in town for Manning's ceremony. So basically, the overall message is still the same, it seems it was just more in a public group type setting then just directly to Dungy.  Doesn't change much for me becuase Dungy admits he heard the comments just a few weeks ago.

  14. Say what you want about Dakich but he said since september that Luck wasn't playing this year. He even said point blank the Colts were not being truthful during the whole process and that Luck himself knew that it was all about ticket sales. He says  the guy who gave him the information is as close to Luck as you can get without being family and that the ticket sales thing came straight from Lucks mouth to this person who then told Dakich.

  15. It's probably true. Dakich was saying clear back around week 2 or week 3 that he had someone tell him there was a real chance Luck would never play again. And it wasn't all about the injury either although it was part of it, it was more that Luck is a different breed, doesn't really need football in his life, and could walk away and be just fine living his life. When you take this into account with things Irsay has said questioning Luck's mental toughness it does make ya wonder. Luck has been beat up for years here, he may be tired of it.  I will agree with what JMV has been saying lately, if you want these rumors to stop, Luck needs to speak. Not a statement, he needs to get up in front of everyone and speak and tell exactly what has gone on and is going on now. Otherwise, this PR nightmare will continue.  I also seen Donahue mention Irsay getting Manning in here to help run things should Luck retire, that needs to happen regardless of Luck. Irsay is a trainwreck, if he loses Manning to someone like Cleveland there wont be much of a fan base left.
