  1. I am not upset at the teams that were paid, nor the NFL. I am however upset that we already pay massive amounts of money for our military and then they are spending some of that money to advertise themselves.

If school district starting paying for commercials, I would feel the same way.

  2. For the love of Pete, I wish people would stop trying to marginalize cheating behavior based on others doing it. Many, many kids have stole something in their life...a piece of candy, a candy bar...whatever. But if you get caught in a grocery store stealing a candy bar, saying that everyone else does it is trying to marginalize a behavior that has consequences for a reason.

Fact 1 - Air pressure is monitored to help keep an even advantage for both teams. The competition committee does not add a rule on a whim and carefully considers each addition. It is more than "no big deal"

Fact 2 - Tom Shady was found "more probable than not" that he was involved in the illegal removal of air in footballs to be used in a game, and it appears this was not the first time. The use of the language "more probable than not" is the NFL's threshold for being responsible and liable for punishment regarding the rules. Tom crossed that threshold.

Fact 3 - If it did not give Tom any advantage in winning football games, there is no way on this green earth that he would have communicated with his equip guy to have this done in a short window before a game, violating a role that the team knows about....just like his statement after they used odd formations to beat the Ravens and then stated that teams should know the rules.

Fact 4 - We were beat in that game fair and square, and his violation was not needed to accomplish that. But the outcome was not known beforehand, and this behavior still occurred.

Opinion - The stance taken by the owner, the lie stated by Shady, and the embarrassing tirade by his agent towards the league...are far more damaging to the NFL's image than the infraction itself.

  3. Your infinite wisdom astounds once again.

I though it was nonsense as well....as I do the premise of the thread. OUr best shot without having any idea of what the future brings is..well....extremely nonsensical. Skinz is one of the smarter posters here, but I wouldn't go as far as to say his wisdom is infinite. So it's ok to have an opinion, but not an opinion of an opinion?

  4. The guy had his shot.....twice. Every time a player who has broken rules or disgraced himself takes a roster spot, he is taking it from another player...perhaps one who might not run quite a fast, or hit quite as hard...but who has been working his butt off, treading water, waiting on opportunity to land on a roster. Talent doesn't trump everything.

This organization is learning that character trumps many things. I hope we continue to reinforce this by example.

  5. I see something that many might not see. I see a Colt team tired of this bullcrap and they have this game circled on their calendar to a man. I can feel the winds of change...

By the 6th game this young oline finds its stride and in our first possession, we run 11 straight running plays and score a TD. The upper east coast gets eerily silent.

  6. I for one am seriously worried. I bet right now Bill B. is scheming new ways to cheat that the NFL is not aware of. I mean how in the heck can we prepare for all the ways that team cheats! It's impossible.

Seriously though, If I had my way, we would play them 16 times next season. When someone beats you up, you meet them the next day and punch them in the mouth. If they beat you again, you punch them again the next day. The tide will turn and it will be the Pats with the bloodied lip. Not because they cheated and got caught.....er.....again. It will be because we got tired of it and punched them harder.

  7. I thought of you when that pick was made.  I couldn't remember which round you said, but I knew I'd have to eat crow.

Good prediction.  My prediction that the Colts wouldn't draft a QB and pick up someone that would never be heard from again after the 4th preseason game was sort of like predicting the sun will come up tomorrow.

Well, I did stretch it having him go in the second, but people forget he ran a pro offense and put up significant junior year numbers.

Mannion had a great junior season (4,662 yards, 37 TDs, 66.3 completion percentage) but struggled as a senior (3,164 yards, 15 TDs, 62.3 completion percentage).  He was a four-year starter, has excellent size (6-foot-5½, 229 pounds) and played in a pro-style attack at Oregon State.

  8. I'm still concerned about the OL. From C to RT it was "ridiculously" awful most of the season.

Semantics like this come across as ridiculously awful to me. I don't care if you have the best QB to ever throw a football, you don't get 1 play from the SB with a ridiculously awful side of one line. Questionable? Perhaps. Awful...no. Ridiculously awful? Whatever.

  9. Good Luck drawing up a defense to stop two speedsters in TY and Dorsett. Not to mention big targets in Andre Johnson and of course Fleener and Allen should continue to grow and have big years.

Then there's the fact that our run game should be a lot better than last year with Gore.

That's just ridiculous. Good luck stopping that offense. I almost feel bad for DCs who have to game plan against that. What a nightmare.

I've been thinking about it more and more... I gotta stop! It can't afford replacing all these clothes because of all the DROOL STAINS ( haha, bad joke but you get the point)

Just fix up that OL and good luck and good night...

The best part is if the running game is good, which I think it will be, they'll be able to use any gameplan they want. From two TEs with Hilton and Johnson outside, to five-wide with Fleener, Hilton, Johnson, Moncrief and Dorsett. So much size and speed to cover.

    Sent TY and Dorsett deep.

    Send AJ on slant.

Allen or Fleener on 10 yard routes.

Send Gore out of the backfield, or hand off.

There's absolutely no way every one of those players will be defended at all times.

It will probably have most teams in nickel defenses, so the box won't be stacked and it should open up some lanes for Gore to rip off some good runs!

I just hope we don't score so fast that the defense is out there for 3/4 of the game.

I wanted to honor the quality posts in this thread. Good job people. Keep it up.

  10. I am not sure why Gramz but you seem to always pick on my posts and seem generally upset in most of your posts as well. One of the great features of this site is the ignore button. I don't personally use it as I like to interact with everyone but I wanted to mention it as it might be something to consider. I have refrained for the most part in responding to your posts (I know you had asked me several questions on the other thread yesterday) that I specifically ignored as I felt the nature would be inflammatory and do want wish to go down that path for obvious reasons.

In terms of your insinuation here, while I am disappointed in what is happening with Wells and Brady, none of it really touches the 4th Lombardi. That win as I said previously was the most important of Tom's career and Bill's too. Much closure on many levels for them and for us fans. All of this deflated footballs is pretty benign and has been since the AFCCG game blow out. But the SB was paramount and that win was even more critical. Everything else is gravy. Also, part of me is anxious to see how Jimmy does anyways as we know he is the heir apparent so he will have a chance it seems to strut his stuff next season which makes Bill's choice to pick him the second round last year look even more brilliant.

And I have not insulted anyone. I never do. I don't resort to that level. It is only football. A game. Great to debate and have some fun but it ends there pretty much for me.

    Cheers ...

It's because of the carefully crafted digs that you place in any thread here that might have the possibility of being Patriot related. In all, you are on a board that is based upon Colt fans. Everyone is welcome, you included. But you choose to carefully degrade the Colts, but you do it in such a way that you can't be fingered for the crime. Ironically, it is quite like many of the behaviors we have witnessed from the team you follow. When you are questioned with something that you know will lock you into a corner, you just choose not to respond. Your prerogative. It has long been revealed that your posting style is here to stay, regardless of truth or logic.

But the years of facing the arrogance of Patriot fans, not the arrogance of the team, has sharpened the tongue spoken here towards you and others who act as you do. Our attitude is of your making. We do not have this attitude towards other teams. It simply is not so. The Steelers have been damn near as infuriating as the Pats over the years in how they have owned us, but they are a flea on the back of the camel in comparison that is the Pats arrogance. Their fans are FAR more likely to admit the mistakes oft their team, and generally stay for the most part to their board. Why Pats fans are so insecure that they have to change the way other people think about them on other boards is beyond me. It must be exhausting.

In all, I feel lessened when I once again try to explain this to you. I fear that you feel compelled to spend far more time defending your team than is healthy, and you are missing out on the joys in life of just being. This is not advice, it is an admission of my own empathy.

  11. Geez, I wish Chuck would lose that phrase...it makes him appear like a dummy who has to use his favorite cliches over again because he is unable to think of appropriate words to say.

For Gawd sakes, Chuck, get rid of THAT cliche and all the other ones that come off as so stupid.

...positively annoying, even for this Colts fan.

Fixed it for ya. I love the guy, and most everything he says.

  12. Perhaps an opinion on what is "gamesmanship" would help with clarification. If any rule that is in place regarding "in game" activities, and that is judged by the referees, is then violated....(eg. pass interference, holding, chop blocking, etc)...that is gamesmanship, IMO.

Filming other teams practices, stealing play books, deflating balls or replacing the air with helium before the game, etc...is cheating. So the adage, "if you're not cheating, you're not trying", should actually be replaced with "if your not practicing gamesmanship, your not trying".... would be more appropriate.

If a guy falls in the draft because he has short arms or small/weak hands, that player should not be able to make the balls more comfortable to fit their hands. No more than a player who falls in the draft because they are oft injured should be allowed to use HGH to heal quicker to make them more competitive. There is a reason why the NFL chooses to govern the PSI of game footballs. This is not a small thing that is just silly. Every aspect of the game is carefully considered by the competition committee. Cheating, is cheating, not matter how small or trivial one may consider a violation. I recently was filmed slowing to a 1 mph roll in an intersection and it cost me $268. The camera clearly had me looking in both directions, and there was not a single car in sight. That 1 mph roll didn't harm anyone, and had no affect on traffic or anyone's safety...but a complete stop is a complete stop. I wrote the check for the full amount and my reputation as a driver was punished because of it, and my rates went up.

Frankly, I am just tired of the whole "win at all costs" mentality that has permeated this sports culture. It makes me want to puke. When I found out Robert Mathis was guilty, I threw him under the bus. Go back and read it. Rationalizing cheating behavior of anyone on your team is pathetic, and quite reflective of one's own integrity. In all, I may be embarrassed beyond description at how rude some Colt fans are about our entire front office and their choices, but many reflect the kind of class that Horseshoe represents.
