  1. This coming offseason will likely make me of break me on Ballard. If there was ever a year for him to go all in on free agency it’s going to be this coming year. We have a 2nd year QB and a team that should be able to get fixed enough in this free agency and draft to bring us back to serious contenders. If we sit back and solely rely on the draft I’ll be very disheartened. I’m not holding my breath and usually don’t look to free agency to build a team but I feel like this roster has the talent, just missing some pieces.

They do if it’s on cable.  It’s the home markets only though.  So if it’s an ESPN or NFL network game a local station gets it.  Sunday Night Football is on NBC so it’s already on over the air TV.

Not the Thursday night Prime games, if you don’t have Amazon prime you can’t watch the game regardless of where you’re at. I’ve got Amazon prime and it still annoys the crap out of me.

I may be misunderstanding what you are saying (Its a low bar :) )

IMHO To get to a top 5 offense...... this team, needs to get a speedy Alpha WR (AND health)

IMHO To get to a top 10 defense (Good enough to win.... IF you ALSO have a top 5 offense)

We need pass rush/ playmaking FS/ viable CB

We have an excellent CB today that should continue to grow in Brents (When healthy)

This defense requires another  CB that can keep the action in front of them AND can tackle.......

These can be had in round 2 or 3

We currently have the 6th ranked offense so to me a WR is still a luxury. Granted you never pass up a blue chip prospect like a MHJ, but comparing equal players in all categories a receiver is much lower on the list of needs personally.

I think everyone would agree the pressure from the DEs make this defense more successful.

Sweat and Chase Young went for next to nothing

Both are better than what we have for the pass rush……

Paye covers the run better than both

    This team needs (to compete)

    HEALTH

    and

    1) Alpha WR1

    2) Pass rushing stud DE

    3) CB

    4) Playmaking FS

I think you have your priority a little wrong. A top 5 offense with a #30 defense.

    1) CB

    2) FS

    3) DE

    4) receiver

  5. I would like to see him compared to other GM's in the league over the same stretch of years. I still believe he is a top 10 G.M in terms of drafting. This past draft was a bit of a strategy change really going after high R.A.S but I believe the entire organization was well aware this was a developmental year so we will see if some of these guys pay off. Some I feel like are flashing between Brents, Mallory, and Jones. Downs was the only none high R.A.S score guy funny enough.

  6. Is there also an issue with Bradley's defense being to complicated. If its so complicated that you've held back better players, isn't that sort of a self inflicted issue? If a kid that went to Yale for christ sake is getting confused shouldn't that be an indicator? Don't get me wrong I wasn't a huge fan of flus but one of his big things were keeping it simple and let guys play fast. At some point Gus has to realize that regardless of what talent is out on the field if people aren't sure what they are supposed to do then you're doomed even if you make the right call.

Maybe last year with guys like Rodgers and Flowers who had the luxury of making a mistake but having the speed to recover was much more of a saving grace and covered up some of Bradley's issues?

Yea fire someone that had the defense ranked 11 in team defense last year.

You trade away top DB, lose 3 others to injuries, LB just getting back after surgery,  lose a top DL for 5 games and you have the nerve to blame the D coach.

There was plenty to dislike last year still with how he was handling things which is still going on this year. He is incredibly slow to make any sort of adjustments. At the end of the day he wasn't Shane's pick, he was a hold over so that's why the question was poised.

Agreed with this... but I will add one wrinkle - to me it seems like Ballard wants to run a specific type of defense. So even if we replace him, chances are Ballard will hire another coach that wants to run the same type of "rush with 4, heavy zone, limit deep throws" type of DC.

I think right now the biggest problem with our defense is our personnel rather than Bradley. I don't think many DCs will be able to do much better with that collection of CBs... but then again... it was him that partially is responsible for having those CBs. We cut a big fast talented rookie for what? For Tony Brown and Darrell Baker Jr? Come on! I understand if we had some great talent and we just didn't have spots for Rush. And he also treated Isaiah Rodgers like some scrub just to push his favorite Facyson.

In general, I am not the biggest fan of Bradley, both scheme wise and evaluation of talent-wise.

I'm still 100% on board with a base 4-3 defense. Pretty much all the top defenses in the league run it, also never really cared for us being 3-4 in the grigs area. I hate soft zone though and the whole philosophy of giving up yardage and then choking down in the redzone. I want a much tighter press defense personally. It helps force the QB to hold on to the ball longer as he searches for the open man which should allow our rush to get home easier.

  9. I understood why Irsay and Ballard wanted to hold onto Bradley going in with Shane. #1 it gave Shane the ability to focus more on the offense and put a little less on his plate. #2 Gus runs a desired scheme for Ballard. #3 The defense played really well with him initially last year.

However we have seen some truly questionable decision by him, last year the debacle of not starting Rodgers when he was playing his butt off, this year staring Baker JR over Brents to start the season when it wasn't necessary. Too giving up massive leads, historic dating back to Minnesota and now allowing other teams to score on us basically at will. I do fully realize, and acknowledge that he's missing some key pieces however he is okay playing off zone coverage allowing experienced QB's to absolutely shred us and so slow to make adjustments. It's not just this year either, he did it last year as well. His play calling just doesn't work.

Now that Shane is getting established and showing he is going to be a solid coach do you think he will request to bring in his own guy?

  10. If you had high expectations to begin the year and still have them after losing our starting QB, all 3 starting CB's our starting DT then you may need to be checked into an Asylum. People are eager to brush off the whole QB purgatory thing but show me a team that does well with a bad QB? Not only did Luck's retirement set us back but Reich begging for Wentz set us back just as far and no one is talking about that.

I think using Reichs ppg this year is not a good comparison because it’s totally different and the QB looks like he’s in over his head right now.

reich had a good record here and his offenses were good.  I don’t understand the SS is better thing.

He’s got a worse record.  This team may develop or it might fall flat.  AR might develop or he might hamstring the club for a while.  Reich had the same record last year BTW before he was forced to start Slinging Sammy as Steichen has this year.  Before yesterday’s game we were averaging 21 ppg, correction 23 ppg.

Now if we start throwing 35 a game around for the next few weeks, I’d change my mind too.

I don’t dislike SS but I don’t think there is any clear evidence that he’s better than FR yet.

And our D was really good in the  3 wins holding teams to 18 ppg.  The o wasn’t great in any of those contests.

Dude how’s it not a good comparison when that’s exactly what you did? We lost our starting QB but that’s not a worthy excuse? Reich’s play design wasn’t bad, his timing of the play calling was god awful and constantly got in his own way.

He was so predictable which is why in games we were supposed to win we couldn’t. He should have been fired immediately after the Jacksonville game with Wentz. He let the team get lazy, allowed players to miss practices. The team wasn’t disciplined and lacked any accountability. If you weren’t able to see any of that then were you actually watching the games or just looking at box scores?

The revisionist history/Reich villification on here is striking.

When Frank Reich had someone other than Jacoby Brisett, Matt Ryan, and Sam Ehlinger at QB, his teams put up 27.1 ppg in 2018, 28.2 in 2020, and 26.5 in 2021.

Shane Steichan's team has put up 25.4 ppg so far this season.

Can someone please explain to me how putting up 25.4 ppg is so much better than putting up more points in the other seasons like Reich did?

I don't understand that equation.  I'm not a math major though.

Reich is sitting at a very pretty 18.6 ppg this year, Colts are ranked 6th in scoring so far and the Panthers are 23rd. You're not accounting for how the league has had less scoring this year then they have in years. The prior years offensive ranking (scoring) are as the following

    22 #30

    21 #9

    20 #9

    19 #16

    18 #5 *with Luck

So looking at it yes Steichen so far has been better. Our defense has been letting us down.

Imagine if we had a GM who could find one good pass rusher out of 10 first or second round DL picks.

Imagine if we had a GM who took the premium positions seriously like every other team, QB, WR, LT and Pass Rush

Imagine if we had a GM whos highest contracts were actual star players at premium positions. Not a LB a G and * RB!!!

LOL it’s absolute lunacy. 8 years in and nothing at all. Nothing to show for it but a sub .500 record and consistently being someone little brother in the worst division in footnall. Im just blown away and done ranting lol. Im taking an extended break.

See ya, bye now. Don’t let the door hit ya either

And u want to let Ballard and his staff make that pick. It came out that Wayne had to bang the table for Downs. He is probably the best wr pick during Ballard's tenure and snd it appears Ballard had no intention of picking him of not for Wayne. Let that sink in.

He also banged the table for Pierce so settle down JFC

  15. Honestly I probably enjoy Kent sterling the most. usually has 2 videos a day that are 10-15 minutes and is a part of the media so he's getting information from the players instead of tweets. Bring the juice is alright, one percent better is solid. Locked on colts is really good too.
