    29 of 30 REALLY!!!!!!!

Venturi's gonna love this, and he's right.  Over the past two years with Eberflus, this is what virtually every competent QB has done to us.  If we slowed down anyone, as we did with Mahomes, we did it with the running game - keeping them off the field.  In the past two weeks, with no running game, this secondary had no prayer.

Mahomes came into that game hurt and he got hurt even further. I’m not sure we win that game had he been fully healthy.  It was a close game.

You can bet they'll damn sure notice it in season ticket sales (or should I say lack of season ticket sales?) for next season.

I have one year left on my club season ticket contract.  I wish I could get out of it.  The team is not very good and it's become a traffic nightmare around the stadium.

What we saw tonight on MNF was a picture of reality. Blanked until 3:56 in the fourth quarter while the opponent went in to the record books passing a H o F Colts QB. Frank Reich says of Brissett. "He's my guy." Fine Frank.

We probably get shut out if not for the Saints taking all of their starters out.

Well at least I won $45 on this game thanks to JMV!

colt1  I have seen every pass that Chad Kelly has thrown in college and preseason.  Gardner Minshew is from my hometown saw nearly every pass he threw in HS and his last year at WSU.  I would take Gardner over JB and I would take Kelly over Gardner.  Kelly and Gardner are more accurate that JB.  Kelly has one of the strongest arms in the league and that is not up for debate.  Can he improve of course Chad can.  Kelly was not any trouble at Ole Miss despite what you hear.  The coaches and CB are caught kind of like the Jags were with Foles.  The paid all this money and should not have.  They are so scared that Kelly will show up and show out that they will have to answer for their decisions.  Management has to show some courage.

I'm an Ole Miss grad so I watched every game Kelly played in.  He was really good.  The only trouble I remember him getting in was him running on the field of his little brother's football came and confronting someone who hit him illegally.  He tore up his knee and that, on top of his past issues, dropped him to the 7th round.  I think Denver really wanted to keep him but cut him due to the optics of his last incident.

The only reason not to give Kelly a start is if they really believe in JB.

Ballard is going to prove what kind of GM he is this off-season.  If he makes good moves and this season was a blimp on the radar he’s going to be here a long time.  If things continue to fall apart there is a good chance him and Frank are shown the door after next season.

I think he definitely needs to change his strategy now the Luck is gone.

My issues with Reich are in the fourth quarter. I don’t think he has been his best. Doesn’t stay aggressive and tries to sit on leads. For example a screen pass on 3rd and 15. Other then that I think he has done a good job with the WR group being so decimated.

From what I've read, the team struggles in the 2nd and 4th quarters for some strange reason.

In early August, the Colts were the 5th best odds to win the Super Bowl.   That is how far Ballard had brought us until Luck quit.

I haven't seen a Colts team this good in a long time.   Great O-line.   Good RB group.  Good TE group of Doyle Ebron and Cox.  Good WR group of Hilton, Funchess, Campbell, Pascal, Rogers and Fountain.  A much improved defense that is right in the middle in YPG and PPG despite having a poor passing offense.

This team would be in the hunt for a 1st round bye with Luck or another good QB.

Ballard has done great.  Think about how thin and poor this team was when he took over.

Those early odds to win the Super Bowl were based on Luck being there and not how good the odds makers thought the team was.  Colts had around 15-1 to win the SB with Luck.  Immediately after he retired those odds plummeted to around 50-1 without Luck.

In addition, the Colts were hands down favorites to win the division with Luck but those odds plummeted after Luck retired.  Our win total also from 9.5 to 6.5.

You're being a bit disingenuous and anecdotal here. You don't have to be the Amazing Kreskin to predict most of the outcomes this year. Last year was the first year with both a great OL and running game when things settled down after the first third of the season.  Both of those units are still great. And Luck did very well with the same guys that were available most of the year.

When Ballard say he wants to build a team that can win regardless of QB, he doesn't mean he's good with a QB that is bad to horrible in most metrics, and only mediocre in a few.  He means he doesn't want a team that is 100% reliant on the QB winning every single game like we did during Luck's tenure, and a lot of Mannings.

I’m not being disingenuous at all. Only speaking the truth. Luck has lost his share of games that most thought he’d easily win. The Jags at their worst have gotten him on a few occasions. I don’t subscribe to revisionist history.

Not entirely true ,look at Ballard's press conference when he was hired .He clearly said as much as luck Is great it's not prudent to rely on one guy .Time to get busy

Everyone seems to ignore that he said this.

This could  be a blessing in disguise. If we pick in the top-15 we have a shot at a good quarterback. We also have Washington's second round paid that could be top 5.

Ballard will just trade down for more 2nd round picks.

That’s my thinking as well. Chase did well.

I don’t think he retires tho

You may be right since he did opt to have surgery.  I don't think anyone will give him a contract.  I'd hate to see him sign a contract somewhere only to lose a kicking competition in training camp.

    Sounds like you're copping out....

I can name 12 teams we would have beaten, and another that we would have likely beaten.

You don't upgrade everything just to make up for the deficiencies of a player who actually lowers the ceiling of other players performance.

No one is psychic here.  You can name who we would have beaten all you want but it means absolutely nothing.  That's why they play the games.  I don't look at games that way in the NFL.

Even if this team would have been the most talented team Luck would have played with, it's not by much and it is not talented enough.  Ballard said he was building a team that didn't totally rely on a QB to win.  So far he hasn't done this and it's obvious because everyone keeps saying we'd be 13-0 or 11-2 right now with Luck.

  13. 1 minute ago, EastStreet said:

Again, who would have beat us. We lucked out with a schedule that was much softer than expected.

This roster isn't complete, but it's by far the strongest a Luck team has ever had. We've had an OL that's been pretty much healthy all year compared to one last year that was musical chairs the first 6 games. Our running game, the same.

I can’t name who would have beaten us just like you can’t name who we’d have beaten if he had played.

Jacoby is good enough to win with a really good team around him. This team is not there yet.

What games do we lose if Andrew didn't retire?

No one can answer that question. There are no guaranteed wins on the schedule. Andrew has lost plenty of games we’d thought were easy wins. He’s also won a game or 2 we thought we’d have no chance.

We're at least 11-2 and in it for a 1 seed. And honestly, what game would Luck have lost?

Honest question? We've played a very weak schedule vs a bunch of bad passing Ds.

With our running game and gelled OL, Luck would have finally had a full year of a good supporting cast.

We have not even sniffed a playoff bye since Manning left. If you believe we’d be 13-0 or even 11-2 with Luck then that would mean that this roster is one of the best in the league. This build is still pretty far from being complete.

The schedule we played this year maybe does support 11-2 but that’s due to schedule and not because the team is so good.

  16. 1 minute ago, EastStreet said:

Because we'd be 13-0 likely if we had Luck. I'm not a Ballard worshiper, but this isn't on him. He's upgraded or made solid attempts to upgrade every unit after inheriting what was mostly a dumpster fire in terms of depth and talent.

Even the JB fan club knows this boils down to the change of QB.

Not saying we don't need upgrades in several areas, but who here thinks we're not at least at 11-2 had Luck not left and playing for a 1 seed right now, even with all the injuries.

No way we’re 13-0 with Luck.

People loved it at the time. But as per usual you suck if you're not great right off the bat.

I really wanted Metcalf, but I'm biased because I graduated from Ole Miss and I watch nearly all of their games.
