  1. Colts have a lower YPC this year than last year with Trent Richardson starting!  Furthermore, people wanted to always bash him, yet EVERYBODY is now in agreement of the OL being total garbage!  It has never really been addressed since the Grigson era began...

Could it be?  Perhaps?  Maybe?  The OL (and the man responsible for acquiring talent) is to blame for the Colts lack of rush game?  I'm not saying Trent was a world beater, but you must fill the whole with before planting the grass seed!  I said it since day 1, "You can't blame the running backs for bad YPC if you don't have a OL to block for them"!

Furthermore (only speculating), say we did have a somewhat solid OL.  That would open up the pass game, in which we had an extremely disappointing season in the air considering us having arguably the best WR corp in the league.  Stemming from that our defense wouldn't have been put in a bind EVERY game, from a slacking offense that commits penalties and turns the ball over in compromising field position.  We also would have been extending drives and not making the defense be on the field for the majority of the game.  I feel we had one of the worst TOP this season to put the icing on the cake.

So, no run game, leads to no pass game.  With an underwhelming offense and a disappointing defense (normally put in a bad situation), that revolves around poor coaching/gameplan and a GM who had a hand in all of this.  Gee, let me think...  do we need to make some heads roll and make significant changes in the offseason?  I would say YES, if you ask me.  Just the fact the main 2 problems (OL and pass rush) has been our biggest problem since this staff has taken over.  I think that is more than enough reason to boot Grigson (and I hate to say it, but perhaps Pagano as well).

Or we can act like the problem is still about certain players that are under performing and TRY to watch the tape and fix it for next week

  2. I think he is what we are looking for in our return game.  Reliable, quick, and knows how to use blockers to get up field!  I definitely think it's time to cut ties with Griff Whalen, as Bray makes Whalen practically useless anymore!

I really hope that (Yes, I'm bringing it up)  Duron Carter is up to speed next season and is ready for a spot on the depth chart.  He did some impressive things in TC and 1 pre season game.  I don't know if AJ will be back but if not it should go as followed:

    TY, DM, Dorsett, Bray, Carter!

  3. Personally, if we are between 10-15 I think that is a good area to trade up, BUT you normally have to give up ALOT (ie 2nd or 3rd), which in return will hurt us.  So if we trade up, I would rather do it in the 2nd round (giving away 3rd or 4th) to get a guy that slipped through the cracks of the first round.  That way we can get a better bang for our buck.  I've never been a big fan of picking 10-20.  There is more room for a swing and a miss, not to say it happens a lot, but I've seen it happen too often for my liking!  As my belief just about all #1 picks should be an immediate need or impact player (make contributions from game 1).

Grigs will draft WR Lequon Treadwell so it doesnt matter.

I think we should draft a QB with our top pick, because we all know Grigson likes to waste 1st round picks, so when Andrew gets injured next year, due to Grigson "still thinking we have the right guys in place, they just need to stay healthy", this guy can come in and hopefully finish out the job that Andrew couldn't do, because of his health issues!

    It's perfect Grigson logic :)

Realistically I would not want this to happen since we couldn't afford to lose our Boomstick if he was hurt. But.......Pat has thrown his hat in the ring again to be our QB if needed. It would be fun to watch him throw TD passes.

It would be fun to watch it, not so much when he gets injured.  Perhaps if it was a friendly game of 2 hand touch!

I'm all in on doing whatever it takes to get the best O line possible.  But we know that a lot of it is on Luck, he has to change his style of play if he wants his career to be extended (or at least not be decreased).

Most people would agree that the Cowboys have one of the best, if not the best, O Line in the NFL.  Didn't seem to help them this year.

Here's the thing, Luck feels like he has to be Superman to win football games.  He had to do it especially the first 2 seasons in Indy.  The line has went from atrocious to still terrible and he feels he must make big plays (stay in the pocket longer to hit on a deep ball, or pickup a first down with his legs).  If he consistently got good protection (like Brady, Rodgers, etc.) then he could play smarter football, and not stress out missing on a big play.

That being said, I can almost guarantee, this debacle won't happen on Andrew's watch again!  We WILL get better talent/more depth on the OL before ANY other priorities this offseason.  It's what should've happened over 2 years ago though.  The weapons on offense is there, now we just need security!  Once that happens, we will sustain drives and take pressure off our defense (which wasn't as bad as stats show this season).  Obviously we will need to get a dominant pass rusher, and perhaps another CB in the offseason, but I feel with a few acquisitions and better coaching this team is knocking on the door of a SB next season.  Hopefully we actually fulfill needs before wants for next year.  I understand drafting BPA to some extent, but when you're stacked a position, that shouldn't be in the cards.  If the GM thinks the guy they need will be taken before our pick, then he better be trading up to get him.  Not just saying, well we also like this guy we can get in a middle round (we all know how Grigs likes to find his diamond in the rough).

The first 2 seasons we rebuilt quickly and were ahead of schedule.  Last year we were on par.  After this season we've taken 2 steps back.  These minor but overwhelming issues need addressed NOW, or else Andrew is potentially wasting his perhaps legendary career in Indy.

I hope the Colt's FO undestands "lost opportunity cost" ...

That is why Irsay is adamant on Luck "winning multiple SB" and not allowing the mediocrity to continue.  However, I feel like he doesn't fully get it, because there are rumors around that Grigson will probably be staying, and Chuck is the one to go!

So... lets look on the bright side.

The Colts are 6-8.  There are 18 teams with a worse or even record with the Colts.  7 teams are 6-8, and 9 teams are 2 games or less back on us.  There are only 2 teams the Colts are more than 2 games up on.  If the Colts lose out, and finish at 6-10, we are looking at drafting in the top 10 pretty easily.

I think they'll lose at Miami, then beat the Titans, and finish 7-9.  They will pick closer to 15 than 10 and unless Grigson goes with Pagano (which is all but set in stone), it is possible to still screw that up.  I would say (very hesitantly) to get an pass rusher with the 1st pick.  Then with round 2 get an OL (which 1 "good" veteran under 30 needs picked up in FA).

Rounds 3-5 should be a another pass rusher (or OL), RB (Gore is getting old and may be gone anyways), CB (to replace Toler, because IDK how Smith will turn out).  If we can hit on the top 2 and get some good value in the middle rounds plus picking up only 1 big name FA, while retaining the important guys, I think this team can reload and be the SB contenders they SHOULD'VE been this year.

I'm not a professional GM in case you were wondering but if I were these would be my simple rules to live by on draft day.  No more than basic fundamental 5 rules. This could be for any team at any time.

#1. Must have a franchise QB.  If one is not on roster finding one is job one!

    #2. Protect your franchisee QB. (T, G, C)

#3. Attack the other teams franchise QB (DE, DT, OLB)

#4. Playmakers on defense. (CB, LB, S)

#5. Playmakers on offense (WR, RB)

When conflicted within need positions or if needs appear fulfilled draft the highest ranked player (BPA).

Somebody finally gets it!! We got a pass in 2012 when the best QB fell in our lap, then we have ignored #2 & #3 since, still trying to get weapons...  It's a very easy scheme to follow that WILL work.  IMO, that is why Grigs needs to go!  He got a gimmie (Andrew Luck) walking into the job, then has neglected the next 2 bullet points.  (Not saying he's terrible), but you can't have a job considering that.  It almost makes every other thing Grigson has done pointless.

I'm not going to fret, our team WILL be much better next year, because stupid issues like these WILL be corrected.  Our weak links have been the Achilles heal the whole era, in which has NEVER really been addressed.  Another offseason will make this team a perennial SB contender.  It sucks that we had to have a roller coaster ride season that we've had for this to culminate, but at least it's now and not still waiting until Luck has an injury hindering his career, or waste his prime years trying to fix a broken system.

I like Pagano but this has to be the final straw for him as well!  I believe we need an offensive minded coach (Sean Peyton would be great).  This organization is headed in another direction though either way, and it can't come soon enough!

Because he wasn't signed to be a starter. Thornton was to start at RG, and was taking starter's snaps in camp before he got hurt. Herremans was depth. That's why he had an incentivized contract.

So was Thornton hurt in camp?  I'm confused why Herremans started the first few games.

Excellent !!  Put Hassey in a Hyperbolic chamber and let's play!!! Crossing fingers for Castanzo even though he hasn't had a stellar year (if nothing else, he's got the best Offensive Linemen name in the league).

Reitz would go back to the other T position where he plays better also!

Well, 50% is about what you're gonna get in free agency. Maybe less. Doesn't matter what caliber of free agent you're bringing in -- role player, starter, etc. -- you're gonna be hard pressed to hit on half of them. This is historical.

It's also not entirely true that the six guys we're talking about were meant to be starters and serious contributors. Herremans was a depth signing. Gore was to be part of a platoon. Lowery was to compete for a starting spot, which he won. Yeah, they wanted all of them to come in and help the team, but I don't think the hopes of this team in 2015 were hung upon these free agents. Langford is probably the most critical one, and he's played reasonably well.

As for Grigson targeting older players, I heard his interview. He wasn't fully serious when he said that, at least that was my impression. I took his point to mean that he wasn't ruling out older players anymore, and was fine making commitments to proven, professional vets. Not that he was purposely looking to add older guys. That was my read on it.

I'd rather have Searcy (not having a great year), Crabtree and McPhee. Nothing wrong with being critical of our offseason. I just don't mind the age issue.

How is Herremans a depth signing when we had this major issue the previous 3 seasons.  Then Grigson signs this guy and he starts day 1?

How was Clowney looking last Sunday?

Very dominant!  Although announcers did mention that his speed will never be what it use to be with the knee injury, but he is trying to transition into more of a power guy.  He is sure big enough for it.  He is definitely an impact player, but will never reach full potential due to that injury.  However, he is looking as good as ever (in the NFL), because he has been healthy recently and able to practice consistently.

    Classy post

I know it's not very nice, but I'm tired of all these posts of people saying, just shut the season down for Andrew's health and better pick.  In reality Dr's already said he is in no greater risk of re injuring himself due to the nature of his current injury.  Also if we lose out we may benefit from 10 picks up, which is not really that big of a deal compared to a WHOLE SEASON OF FOOTBALL PLAYED!  It's like going to your work and saying I'm not doing anything and when I get fired, ehh there's other jobs out there, perhaps I will have a better one with more money.

So to clarify I hope people can get the message their opinion is pointless, players will play 100%

Who really cares if he is late.. He has the right to post what he wants. Still wouldve like him to draft him in the 7th.  Not sure who our 7th round pick was though.

I believe Denzelle Good lol,  He wouldn't have signed with us, but Cowboys got him for cheap in FA, which he refused because of character issues.  I don't see how this team can be so Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.  We have players like Erik Walden and Josh McNary, but refuse to pick up guys like Collins SMH

Going all in with Whitehurst is like going all in with 7/2 off suit. It's never a good idea.

Yeah lol.  I know the coaching staff makes bad decisions from time to time, but I don't think they're that dumb to not have an emergency QB.  Which points to either they have plans to start somebody else.

  17. I'm starting to think that Colts will have Luck or Hasselbeck start.  I'm sure they wouldn't go all-in with Whitehurst and not have an emergency QB.  What I mean is the Colts have not signed any QB this week in case either one isn't ready to go.  With Luck's status still very much up in the air and Pagano already saying Matt will be available for Sunday's game, I'm putting my money on Hasselbeck to get the start.  I think it may be the staff trying to cause ambiguity so the Texans have to prepare for all possible scenarios, in order to remove focus from one specific player syle.
