  1. Grigson said the O-Line was one of the top priorities next to resigning Vontae.  He already filled the hole in the front 7 without breaking the bank, and addressed the WR position w/ Nicks cheap.  It scares me he signed Costa, but I think that was in case he couldn't bring in someone better.  I always thought Mack was a longshot but now EDS is now off the list by signing with Tampa.  Im very uneasy about the whole situation, but I have faith Grigson knows what he is doing.  Hopefully it ends soon cause I'm going to be stroking out here soon if the stress doesn't cease lol

  2. Yeah I'm on the same page. I don't get why we haven't addressed the O-line and there is less reason imo to bring in recievers via FA. The draft is deep at WR. Phil Costa isn't the answer for our O-line. I'd rather us strive to have a good O-line than just be praying that a bunch of unproven guys can be average.

Thank you!  Couldn't have said it better myself.

  3. It boggles me that people seem to never think about injuries after the past season the colts just had!! haha

Oh I sure thought about it.  That doesn't mean we need another starting WR on our team tho.  Like I said we have 3 guys on the bench that will be good if they're given a chance.  No need to spend extra money when we can improve elsewhere.

  4. It boggles my mind why people think we need to bring in a high profile WR.  Reggie and TY will be great next year.  Rogers/Brazil/Whalen are extremely young talented guys that only need to be developed.  Yes Reggie isn't going to be here much longer but I fully expect one of the three to step into his roll when he is ready to walk.

I feel like people also forget we have 2 great TE's also.  Clearly our receiving unit doesn't need any more depth.

  5. I do not expect them to get there because they have done nothing to address that horrible offensive line. The players and the coaches know they are not good enough to get to the Super Bowl. They play in the South and they went 6-0 there and 5-5 on the rest of the schedule. Well, they are not going 6-0 this year so they have to be better outside the division. I see New England and Denver in that schedule. I also see a revamped Houston team that may win in double figures to and that team is being built to beat Andrew Luck and the Colts specifically. I would almost bet the Colts are a better bet to be one and done in the playoffs that getting anywhere close to that AFC Championship game. New England just got better. Denver got a whole lot better. The Colts have gotten slightly better but they still have big holes to fix.

Colts may not go 6-0 in their division but I guarantee they don't lose more than 1 or 2 divisional game.  IDK why you would think Houston is a big threat to them.  Say they lose to Denver and NE, who else do they play that are hands down better than them?  I admit they got extremely lucky in 2011 going 11-5 last year maybe or maybe not, but no way with their schedule do they not improve this year

  6. Prepare to taste failure if that is your idea of a successful season. This is still a rebuilding team that is a few years from being a Super Bowl contender.

If you're telling me they're not SB contenders and are a few years away please enlighten me of who exactly is in the AFC besides Denver?  Might I add we beat the 3 best teams in the NFL last year (Lost to another good team in an awful performance, we were only down 7 pts. to NE going into the fourth on the road.)

Let me tell you our only 2 problems (if we fix our O-Line during FA) is CONSISTENCY (playing 60 mins of football, not just the 2nd 30 or playing to the level of our opponents) and staying healthy.  I don't care who is on our roster or coaching staff we will never win a SB if 5 great players are on IR by week 5 and other key guys get banged up for half the season.

  7. Of course that is the goal but this is still a rebuilding team that has made the playoffs mostly because they play in the weakest division in the NFL. They are not likely to go 6-0 in the division again although 5-1 or 4-2 are still possible. But that means the wins have to come from outside the division. That schedule will be a little easier this year although there will be tough games with Denver and New England. Free agency has gone well but that O-Line still needs work and the coaches need to work hard with Luck to get him to make his reads with more speed and get rid of the ball sooner to help the O-Line with the pass rush. There is nothing wrong with Luck's release but he is a big slow to make his secondary reads and get the ball out of his hands. This is all to be expected from a QB just entering his third year. The Colts need to put more pressure on the opponent's QB with a pass rush that isn't solely Robert Mathis. I like what has happened in free agency so far. Center is a glaring hole that must be repaired and the O-Line just doesn't do a good job of protecting Luck (some of that is on Luck too) and creating a run game. I will be happy however the season turns out but I would hope to win the division although I expect pressure from a vastly improved and inspired Texans team. So, if they win the division and have a competitive game or two in the playoffs, that will be progress in my mind.

It's been their goal for the past 2 years.  I do admit it was unrealistic but that's what the front office and players expected of themselves.  I agree the Colts are in the weakest division, that being said they should EASILY win the AFC South to get an automatic bid into the playoffs.  They also have the weakest schedule this coming year, while coming off last season of having a particularly difficult schedule and maintaining their 11-5 record for a 2nd straight year.  They could possibly be the #2 seed next year and have a 1st round bye.  Through FA I believe they have patched some holes on D and should be ranked just outside the top 10 overall.  If they can fix the O-Line, which is a matter of staying healthy and picking up a C, then their offense should be top 5 overall.  Luck was pressured WAY TOO MUCH last year and the backfield was always getting blown up before the RB could hit the non existing holes.  With where they stand today I believe the Denver Broncos are the only team in the way of them making it to the SB.

PS I said it would be a failure of anything less than a SB appearance, not winning it all (previous post).  However, I fully expect them to make it to the AFC Championship game to say the least.  That isn't unrealistic with the progress they continue to make!!

  8. For everyone freaking out about this "visit", I wouldn't worry quite yet.  This is just one of the many options Grigson has available at C.  Other teams are looking at this guy also.  I bet he wont sign him unless he cant come to terms with a better guy.  I don't know much about him, but I think if we ended up with him as our starter it would be an upgrade from Satele.  How could you get any worse?

  9. I haven't saw a definite number of how much cap space Colts left.  I saw one report of at least 15 million.  Which means we could bring in one more great player, while still having money to sign our draft picks.  I would love to have Alex Mack, but at this point I think it would be smarter to pick up someone good just not as expensive.  I don't even think anyone has signed a C this FA period yet.  Good news, because the longer teams wait the less of the market value.

  10. Davis: A  We got him for market price.  He's young and a top tier CB

Jones: A-  A great addition to a struggling run stopping defense, above average player.  He didn't break our bank either

Jackson: B  They're were a few more talented LB's however we got him for a good price.  He led the Browns in tackling!

Viniateri: B-  Eventhough he still is a great clutch K he is aging and I don't think we needed to spend 2.5/yr on that position

PattyMc: B+  In my mind the best punter in the league, I mean what other P lays guys out?  but we gave him a lot of $  (He should  be our K also, I understand we would be screwed if he got hurt... That's why we resigned Adam

Bradshaw: B  Great for 1 yr deal for depth... Not sure how much money he got but I'm sure he'll earn it

Other Depth Player:  B+  Awesome to keep backups around that know our system and not spending much money on them

  11. Great move by the Patriots, this time next year they can slap the franchise tag on him for around 9.8 mil I believe.

That would be the best way to handle it for awhile lol... I don't think he really earned his money last year and the year before he's also been injured in the past.  I would do that because it just seems that he is that type of player, once he gets paid he doesn't try as hard

  12. To key to a successful run game (or offense for that matter) is a dominant O-Line.  It doesn't matter who you have at RB if they cant get out of the backfield before getting hit.  That's the main reason Trent had a bad YPC, and they gave it to him up the middle on obvious running situations (Where our line was the weakest).  I believe when we get a good Center (and if we can stay healthy), Trich, Ballard, and Bradshaw will all run down the throats of defenses.

On top of that, the passing game will flourish because Luck will actually have a pocket and time to throw to an open WR instead of threading the needle.  Which, in return allows us to have A BALANCED approach.  Less 3rd & long, more 2nd & short situations.

  13. I would overpay for Mack long before a WR as many had as our "need".  Especially if it meant keeping Luck safe and improving our running game!

I wouldn't overpay for anybody.  I think Indy is a very appealing place to land for any FA because theyre building such a strong team.  In that case I believe high end players are willing to take pay cuts to come here.  That being said, I don't think we can even get Alex Mack since he was tagged.  Colts don't have a 1st round pick (and definitely wont give up their 2nd rounder) to give Cleveland in the case they wanted to sign him.

  14. We have less money than you may think.  Today alone we resigned AV, VD, Sergio Brown, Ahmad Bradshaw, and also brought in DE from Baltimore.  I believe we are a good Center away from a Super Bowl season.  We definitely filled the holes in our defense with FA, despite losing Bethea.  Hopefully we can lure Dietrich-Smith or De La Puenta for cheap!

    • Ahmad Bradshaw will be back next season.  NFL Network just announced Colts agreed to terms  with him.  I believe when it's time to resign Ballard and Richardson only one will make the cut.  Both had stellar rookie seasons, but last year Ballard was hurt and Trent didn't live up to expectations.  Personally I love both of them and cant wait to see who thrives from the competitive nature of the Colts depth at the RB position.  Its going to be very interesting when the season starts.  Hopefully they can sign a dominant C so neither have any excuses.   Let the best man win!!

  15. I'm very happy both sides got this deal done!  Although Vontae deserves every dollar he got (Probably could've got more elsewhere), but I wish he would've taken a little less money.  We still need a dominant Center.  Previously Signing D'Qwell and Arthur pretty much filled up all the holes on Defense now.  Just reminding all that we still need to lock up franchise players in the future such as: Luck, Hilton, Ballard, Richardson (one will probably be let go), Fleener, and Allen (one will probably be let go).  Yes we had a lot of cap space but that doesn't mean it's all free to spend.
