This is a question that can go in many ways with many various opinions so go at it.

My feeling? I certainly hope so. He is still young and I hope this team can be built around him accordingly. I know Irsay sort of built this up too big initially with hoping we get rings over stats. The positives are that the Colts under Luck have won a few playoff games and have made a title game.

The negatives are that we seem to be moving a tad backwards with development based on the eye test and thats not just due to injuries this past year at QB. And also that Luck will soon have to be paid the big bucks.

I also was thinking about this too since many still complain how we only got one SB win in the Manning era. But, why is that such a bad thing? I would kill right now just to know if we could get ONE Super Bowl win in the current Luck era.

I remember when you were part of a group running manning out of town talking about all the rings Luck was going to have.

Must stink to have to want to kill to get one super bowl. Manning led another team to 2 in the 4 years since he was cut. The irony is that Luck averages 2 interceptions per playoff appearance...ouch!  Wasn't that your beef with Manning?

You have another injured star QB with no o'line 4 years later.

    So the answer is no.

    enjoy.

Here is my question. I went straight to the article's source, the Anthony Calhoun interview:

    http://wishtv.com/2016/02/02/poll-should-manning-retire-as-colt-or-bronco/

When your team is not in the SB (or not even in the playoffs), and you are not part of the SB festivities, what was the purpose of the timing of Anthony Calhoun's interview right before the SB (not before the draft, not after Pagano and Grigson were retained, not a few days after Peyton went to the SB etc. but exactly the week leading to the SB)? The questions were straight off about Peyton Manning, it is not like there were a series of questions about the Colts prior to Peyton. It almost smells politician like. "Peyton, you went to the media to Kravitz when you were rehabbing from injury to state your opinions, guess what, I can do the same too, take that, you politician" kind of feel to me. AC is just another media puppet used here, IMO.

I am sorry, I share the same paranoia that Old Crow has about Jim Irsay, the timing of all his actions to throw Peyton off because he knows it will bother him, when things come from Irsay and this pattern is recurring. Deep down, I firmly believe he does not want Peyton to win another SB like so many other fans here for whatever reasons but for reasons only he knows and he won't come out and say it publicly, he is not stupid. Irsay is fine being wrong with so many things as long as he is making money but he wants to be right about the Peyton decision, I am certain lot more folks share that sentiment too. I am not naive enough to believe otherwise.

Irsay is mighty smart, very much in tune with what is going on, mentioning how we lost 3 years in a row to the eventual SB winner then noting the AFC was strong then. That is why the Peyton-Brady winner in the playoffs won the SB those years. It changed in 2013, because the NFC is the stronger conference now. Very astute observation from Irsay, who unlike other owners, is very much in touch with the football landscape, IMO. I am a big fan of him retaining Grigson and Pagano and giving it a second go with them together but on this Peyton front, I don't think things have changed with Irsay one bit.

    spot on and well written.

  3. I think Peyton would be the perfect fit for Offensive coach next year.  What better person to help Luck out.  He could teach Luck so much about how to read defenses.  I think Irsay should pull the trigger on this.

you think you can discard the GOAT like a used tissue and expect him to come back and bail you out of your poor decision making?

    lol.

  4. Holes?     In the Colts defense?     Really?     Seriously?

I'll take "Yes! for $2,000, Alex"

Find me 40 sacks from this defense.     Find me 20-24 interceptions.

They may come.   They may be there.    But they're not apparent now, today.

Who are the game changers?    Who are the big play makers?    I don't see many today.    I might in 6 months,  but nothing is obvious to me today.

So, for me there are holes on every level (DL, LB and DB) until we prove on the field that there are not.

thats the beauty of Grigs decisions. You don't see them now, but you will in 6 months. ;)

I honestly feel better about this defense than I have in a long time.

  5. Hey look its this guy again.

I thought these boards were too cheery and optimistic. Get to work.

And even though I haven't been here you are still so insecure about luck you have to post every morsel of proof that we made the right decision.

Which decision? I'll let you decide between March or April.

Get to work...LOL... mob mentality. I'll make quick work you and your little clique.

    Where should we start?

  6. My favorite comment on that article was ...

Luck and Wilson had 8 opponents in common, against those teams Luck had 14 TDs and 12 INTs, Wilson had 20 TDs and 1 INT. All the other statistical categories are also that one-sided. But I guess none of that matters, stats apparently don't matter when it comes to Luck.

  7. "I'm glad we tanked in 2011, it got us Andrew Luck." Because both actions are frowned upon, and again, contrary to the foundation of competitive sports.

That's the primary reason many Colts fans are offended by the accusation. Add to that the fact that the accusation doesn't hold up to scrutiny, and it's even worse. Some -- not you -- continue to trot it out there like it's unimpeachable fact, when in reality, it just doesn't make sense.

Your claim is a little different, and I acknowledge that. Your claim is more along the lines of "the Colts saw things weren't going well, and didn't react quite as strongly as they probably should have, and they were probably okay with losing all of those games because it got them the top pick in the draft, so who cares?" I don't think that adds up either, but it's not quite as objectionable as "the Colts set out to get the #1 pick once Manning had his operation."

c'mon superman. We let Jim Caldwell Coach. Isn't that proof enough???

    ;)

  8. You forgot Captain Comeback, but great post.

I too was a kid growning up on Bert Jones  & hey diddle diddle, Lydell (Mitchel) up the middle having lived in B'more.

I think a lot of fans that joined us during the Peyton years don't truly appreciate all the winning we've had of late. I mean all you had to do is be a fan in the 80s and early 90s or remember Jeff George and you'd really appreciate what we have now.

  9. Almost every single time I read NFL General I see a new reason as to why Denver failed to beat Baltimore..

well i know why we didn't beat baltimore... but that would be derailing the thread and feeding the trolls... The thread was meant as a gratz to Denver thread so lets keep it that way.

Seems a few of you actually watched the game and actually observed when the momentum in Denvers favor had stopped. The blown pass coverage was the striking blow, but the mo' had shifted with the loss of the running game. Theres no doubt that Woodson is done and there were CBs on the board but they need a RB and Ball was lucky to be left. My guess is they have a plan to replace woodson in the long term.

Monte Ball is a good addition to any team IMO. So gratz.

edit: Oh look at that (above) a few sports writers seem to share my sentiment, which must mean something since their jobs are to analyze this sport. Thanks for that Bayone!

  10. The only one I can see is if we draft a guard in the first round. I can't see any rookie starting other than on the O line. If we draft a DE/DT he may rotate in, but I bet he won't start.

Now, as the season goes on it's possible that rookies may win starting spots.

    Thoughts?

what oline player do you see in the draft that can start right away in the NFL?

  11. If last years success was a pie it woud be divided as such:

    50% Chuck Strong

    30% Bruce Arians

    20% Individual Accomplishments

Which i could break down by player

    5% Reggie Wayne

    4% Allen

    4 % Ballard

    3 % Redding

    2 % Davis

    1% Hilton

    1% Luck
