  1. I don't know if you're directing this to me or not but I never said "dumbed down" or "crayola college plan". I just posted something that does state that some NFL execs. think he may have trouble going to the NFL. However, the article does state that the offense at Baylor is simple, I don't know if the other poster took that word and turned into "dumbed down" just to make it sound worse or not, but again, not my words. I think he is a smart kid, but I would rather wait and get a kid like Ryan Tannehill in the 2nd rd. if we can't get Luck.

Not directed at you....... I get tired of people that act like they read something, and that is the new fact that everyone should listen to but are unable to share specifics....... even when they are getting called on it

  2. RGIII isnt Peyton Manning

And there is no comparison between the two

PM is a top 5 QB of all time, no question

Luck isnt Manning. It sounds like he is similar to Manning, and could adjust quicker than any QB in awhile.

If we cant draft Luck, then RGIII, in my humble opinion, should be our choice.

If we get RGIII, it would be a mistake to run a "Peyton Manning Offense"

We would need to make adjustments to our current offense to utilize his talents.

Your quote says nothing other than it will be an adjustment, and that he isnt the Peyton Manning Offense type

(we agree) Not that he is dumbed down, or on the crayola college plan as stated

Making him out to be less than intelligent is of no value to anyone.

(I bet he is much smarter than MANY of us on the board)

RGIII is a special talent that may or may not make it in the NFL (As I stated)

However, I bet he will do just fine.

I would still like to see the link that stated the "dumbed down"

If its on the net, its an easy search....... (I couldnt find it, from the "reports") that are on the web

  3. I wanted to show you an actual link, like I am looking for, this so happens to have academics

    associated in regards to RGIII.

    Please open it

    http://www.bu-rg3.com/academics/

A few of the highlights for this "dumbed down" player :

    • 2011 Spring Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
    • Arthur Ashe Overall Sports Scholar Award finalist, 2010
    • 2010 Academic All-District VI (ESPN/CoSIDA)
    • 2010 Academic All-Big 12 (first team)
    • 2011 Spring Baylor Dean's List
    • 2010 Fall Baylor Dean's List
    • 2010 Fall Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
    • 2010 Spring Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
    • 2009 Fall Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
    • 2009 Spring Baylor Dean's List
    • 2009 Spring Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
    • 2008 Fall Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
    • 2008 Spring Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
    • Graduated No. 7 in senior class at Copperas Cove (Texas) High School

I dont see anything on crayola on this list.

I am not sure if you graduated early with honors, from College, while playing a time consuming sport.

I know I didnt graduate 7th in my class

He must be much smarter than me (a low hurdle)

    Baylor is a tough school

I live just north of Dallas Texas, and Baylor is very close by.

    I get the local news

All the news on him this year is he is a VERY intelligent person, with off the chart physical skills

I will reiterate, if we have the first pick, we take Luck.... no questions

If we have the 2nd pick, RGIII is my personal choice

  4. Coltsblue1844

I will ask a 3rd time for a link, a specific publication, a writer's quote, or anything else SPECIFIC.

If you cant share one....just one..... can you see how your loose statements stating "recent scouting reports"

statements can be viewed as a bit thin?

You have your opinion, I have mine on this guy. He may or may not make it in the NFL, but...... please

dont throw your opinions, and claim these mysterious scouting reports as sources

If you have a published document of any kind that backs up your statements, I will apologize.

But.... still waiting for a substantive reply...........

  5. I dont see us taking RGIII, and i hope that we do not, either. The "news" on him, in his scouting report now, says that Baylor has had to "dumb down" and use a very simplified playbook for him...so if he cant handle the playbook in college, i'd hate to see how he would handle one in the NFL...also, what does that say about his overall learning ability?

Coltsblue1844........ I will ask again your sources, "news" or link for your above statement.

RGIII is graduating early with honors from a tough academic school, Baylor.

I highly doubt that anything was dumbed down for him, but I am very curious as to where you are seeing this

(I havent seen anything like this)

Do you have a source for this information? Or better yet, a link?

  7. Let's start with this: In the Colts system, you really can't draft a developing QB. You have to draft a QB that has proven to be a winner and has the tangibles and intangibles. Peyton Manning had that coming out of college. He was incredibly touted as a draft prospect. For those that say draft a QB in the later rounds to sit and learn behind Peyton makes no sense.

Remember Einstein's definition of insanity is to repeatedly do the same things yet expect a different result. It would be like drafting Sorgi, or Painter all over gain. So drafting guys that didn't excel in college but expecting them to produce at the NFL level is not the best way to go.

Let's understand what our offense is all about. It's about recognizing what the defense is doing on every snap, audible-ing to the play that would have the best possible result against that defensive scheme, and having the recognition and timing to make accurate completions in the face of a pass rush. This sounds more like Andrew Luck than RGIII. I would say that RGIII is a great athlete, however Andrew Luck is a better fit. If he's not available in this upcoming draft, it doesn't mean that RGIII would magically be a better fit for our system because he's the best available QB prospect.

I would like Luck first. I think he is that QB that can come in and learn on his own, and succeed.

But.....if the pick is gone... with RGIII, and Manning is healthy, it would be good for him to learn from

But........ I think the heavy odds are that the Colts are not going to give 28 million (which could be used to

fill the GAPING holes and rebuild this team through FA) to a soon to be 36 year old QB who MAY be at the

    level he was at pre-surgury.

  8. RGIII is a special player.

He is going for his masters degree.... No dog fights for this guy

    He IS a smart guy

For those who want to compare him to Vick, RG completed nearly 75 percent of his passes

Vick completed less than 55 percent.

RG almost never throws a interception.

RG had a poor supporting cast with only one WR that is good, with no running game.

Vick is 6 foot, RG is 6 foot 2

I am still a believer that Luck is the better pick........BUT i wouldnt have a bit of problem with the Colts taking RG.

If The Colts management does keep Manning, RGIII will benefit.

  9. Peyton will be 36 in March.

I am in the camp that if Luck is available, you have to take him.

I also like RGIII, if we go at 2.

But....... We shouldnt be in this position.

My frustration is that what we saw with Painter what was seen the last 3 years.

In preseason and in mop ups......

The guy should have been evaluated in practice and let go if he cant perform.

Other teams have a viable back up solution..... We chose to have no forethought at all

  10. Since the Colts dont value CBs like other teams, i wouldnt see us taking someone first.

I see us, fo the first time, really having to pick up some FAs to fill some holes, this draft wont do it.

This defense DOES work, if you have a great pass rush, a very good SS, a disruptor of sort at DT, a tackling machine

    At WSLB.

CBs can be average and make this defense work. They cant be horrible like Lacy but you dont need a Revis type player.

Lacy is like Painter.........shouldnt be playing football.

We are missing key parts to make the defense work.

Personally i see the Colts dropping manning. If we are second, i very much see RG3 being drafted

He is a smart kid, going for his masters, and i like the way he throws with so few interceptions.

He also had spotty talent around him.

My picks if we go at pick 2, and Luck is off the board.

    1) Rg3

    2) Barron SS

  11. A troll?

I have been a fan for longer than many posters have probably been alive.

I rooted for John Unitas in his last few years, ticked that he went to SD.....

I am halfway through all the NFL stadiums seeing the Colts play (bucket list)

I guess i am seeing some major chinks in our approach to football.

After so many years of horrible seasons in the past, i would hate to see them go back there.

Sorry for the rant........but our previously strong management and coachs are faltering

  12. Ok, so Painter was drafted where he was.......

Why couldnt someone evaluate how badly he was playing, then MOVE ON.......

If the guy isnt an NFL player...... Why is he on a roster?

He has proven that he cant play in previous years........

I would rather be grooming a potential QB, then holding on to a player that should be in an accountant....

Heck, since the expectations are so low for a back up QB on the Colts...... Why not hire me?

Im old.... But i could lose games too.

And...... For those of you that said we would only have won 4 or 5 wins...... Thats the idea.

A backup QB, keeps you competitive, while your starter may be out a game or two.

We have had a backup QB in painter that was a loss for sure........

Watch.....he will be cut after the season, and hewont sniff an NFL field again....

Sorry for the rant, but this coaching staff was asleep at the wheel when thinking about backup QBs.

Instead of putting everything in a rookies hands, we should be drafting a stud WR or DT or trading to get several picks

    Now........ Are hand is forced

  13. Painter Did get a chance to show how well he could play........

Manning wasnt on the field for those year end games, and Painter did show his stuff in the preseason, for several years

    (it wasnt pretty)

This coaching staff had such a low opinion, that they brought in an old aging QB.......

    So...... They knew

We should have had someone with some raw talent in the wings.

  14. RGIII is an interesting prospect.

He would bring a new dimension to the Colts.

He is bigger than Vick, and is Much more accurate (compare their stats for thier last year in College)

RGIII would be a huge headache for other teams to prepare for.

IF Luck is gone, I would have no trouble taking RGIII at 2

AND I would let him learn from Manning.

  15. I am absolutely amazed how poorly we have handled the backup quarterback position.

We SHOULD have been developing a QB of the future for a few years.

Its clear that Painter is as bad as he was when he was mopping up end of season games and in the many preseason games that he played in

What team in the NFL doesnt have a viable backup QB for a 35 year old starter????

Oh....the team that lost its first 13 games.......

Love my Colts....... But this is/ was a HUGE mistake

  16. I think peyton would make an excellent offensive coordinator.

A position he ALREADY does on this team.

    If Peyton cant play.......(Realistically a 50/50 chance)

Maybe less when you think about having 3 surgeries with 2 not

    Working out.

    I would say

    Try Tressel at HC

    Manning at OC

    Tutoring Andrew Luck

A NEW DC...... With new ideas.....

  17. This staff is horrible and if you can't see that, you need to borrow the football for dummies book that firejimmies brother sent to, Coach stand and stare.

I would say there arent any areas of strength on this team in the coaching staff.

    Some are ok...... But........

I dont see the aggressive wining attitude.

The San Fran turn around is a case in point.

Did Alex Smith suddenly become Pro bowl level?

Jim Harbaugh has brought a winning attitude to the team..........

Do you see anyone on the coaching staff that gets the team to play at a higher level?
