I agree. For all the injuries the Patriots have had at wide out, the fact that Dorsett could still not make a dent shows that the grade for our trades should be more around B+, IMO. Brissett's inability or the team's/coaches' inability to help win games down the stretch is the only reason why this wouldn't be higher. The fact that we were in every game means Brissett was playing better than expected and games were not blowouts consistently.

Wilson, Basham and Banner - Wilson played OK in spurts but has ways to go. Basham was a project, because pass rushing in the NFL is hard, I would like to know who vouched so hard for the Banner pick, we could have used it on the line backers, in hindsight.

a lot of gms whiff on draft picks, who knows if they can play in the nfl like they did in college, free agents should be a sure thing for a gm. they have a previous nfl record to be judged by. i give him an average draft and excellant free agents for d-line below average for lb pickups, above average for secondary pickups,wr pickups below average, o-line pickups below average

ive been critical of wilson, but i do think he finished the season well

i dont blame chuck either, QW had a lot to work on early in the year

i liked that he got his first int too, that should be a confidence booster

hard for a rookie corner to start

If you want to be honest, he wasn’t going to start back then, and didn’t deserve to start.  So you don’t keep him active and sit a guy who’s been practicing STs all week.

Also, his position coach is watching him practice and reporting to the HC. He’s the one recommending who should play/sit.  I know it’s contrary to all the conspiracy theories but no coach is going to sit a player who can help him win unless there’s a really good reason.

You guys have to get over blaming everything on Pagano.  Let it go.

    i concur

Hard to believe a team we could have, possibly should have, beaten twice is moving on.

Another bye week for New England.

we dont have the talent of the titans, too many draft busts for us to compete with them

The rest of the teams DONT stink.   Fans here have been saying that for so many years they can't seem to stop saying that.

    It's not true.

    Jacksonville does not stink.

    Tennessee does not stink.

    Houston does not stink.

These teams may not be great, but they do not stink.    There's a difference between having a bad season and stinking.

Cleveland stinks.    There's a team that is terrible....    Otherwise....   no.   Sorry.

I have a bigger problem with what we heard about him as a man.  How he was artogant , condescending and dismissive.  He certainly tried to address the OL. The FA contracts didnt hurt us in future.  I think the guy has talent, just not a people person.

I really like the guy Ballard portrays, whether its an act or not.

lets face it, the vast majority of players drafter are average at best.  Its really difficult to predict not only athletic success, but how they'll handle the success ($), how hard they will study, work, etc.

every team has misses, every year it seems, even in the 1at.

very hard to get game changers or even starters in the draft, many do not stay in the nfl long, draft is a crapshoot

Funny how everyone ragged on Grigson for taking a wr in the first round and yet wr is probably top 3 biggest needs on the team. Did he get the pick wrong....perhaps...but he wasn't wrong in having foresight to address the need. I didn't really have problems with many of the positions and how he was trying to build the team (plan)...he just picked the wrong guys to build it with.

it is easy to see the needs, the trick is fixing the needs

We could get complete bust after pick too. IMO, Barkley is probably the most "sure thing" in this draft, but I can definitely understand why people are hesitant to use a top 5 pick on a RB.

some fans say dont  take rbs or guards with the  first five picks, gms do it all the time they, dont limit their picks with fan rules, most take the best player no matter the position.

His YPC are right in line with Vick Ballard...who is a cult hero with Colts fans for his rookie season. And Mack was more productive as a pass catcher. Seems like a different standard...if we are considering Mack to be any type of disappointment.

I think the disappointment (frustration seems more apt) could stem from the success that guys like Hunt and Kamara have had compared to Mack.

While it does seem like the Colts got the short end of the stick when it comes to rookie RBs this season, I don't think it's fair to judge Mack until he gets a new OC next season. He at least has huge potential as a change of pace RB. And Chud's inability to use Mack more as a pass catcher was either stupid or stubborn...or both.

hard to get a rb in the fourth who becomes a first year super star

With a new head coach the question will always be what offensive and defensive schemes he will run.

I think many on here prefer to stick with the 3-4 or this hybrid scheme. Personally, I want to see the Colts go to some version of the 4-3.

The reason for this is it appears harder to find players to fit the 3-4 scheme. Mainly you need versatile linebackers otherwise what is the point of the 3-4? Overall, a 3-4 defense is likely to require using higher draft picks on defense and more veterans which leaves less cap space for the offense. Plus, given the injury problems I think it’s even more important to look at running a defense that isn’t so dependent on veterans.

To summarize, I think a 3-4 defense takes longer to build and requires more resources (draft picks and cap space) to build and maintain. Regardless of the current scheme I don’t think the Colts defense is good. I think Chris Ballard can assemble a good 4-3 defense quicker than a good 3-4 defense. Does anyone agree? Maybe my viewpoint on this is outdated.

    i agree
