Nobody is willing to stop watching the NFL, I believe, because the horse is out of the barn by that time when it comes to head trauma.  It s just easier to blame Roger Goddell than it is the crusty old high school coach that's taken a liking to you boy

      again. I'm guilty.

Me and 4,000 of my close personal friends are going to be standing in the middle of a warm field out behind Crown Point high school tomorrow night watching large still growing boys from Lowell collide with large teenage boys from Crown Point for 48 minutes.

..and I don't blame the schools. they do what the public wants.

I see a future with maybe some type of spacesuit-looking style upper body shock absorber.

..but right now that's science fiction

Football is a crippling, potentially lethal sport but until I myself stop watching, I cant blame anyone for not curing cancer

*sigh* atleast we can hope for a CTE cure. Its sad to think that retired players will be dealing with this soon and many players today will also be dealing with it 20 years from now. But now i see why Roger is making these rules and its starting to make sense.

I'll admit that after seeing that movie it really makes me question how I can support the nfl given their lack of cooperation and their lack of resources they put into the research to protect players or at the very least send them through a full on course with the risks involved. Sure a player you would assume knows the risks but I also acknowledge this problem starts way before they reach the NFL.

I think it's more a problem of public concern and awareness at an age that's appropriate before they enter football. Again this isnt all on the NFL but without a doubt they have the ability to raise the awareness and fund research more  then any other organization.

That is the problem.  The nfl doesnt want the players nor fans to know. Because losing fans and losing players means losing business.

The sickening part is that the nfl lists themselves as a nonprofit organization. So wouldnt you care about the health of your players? They think that sending these players to do community things makes it all up.

Am i the only one who thinks this concussion movie had to do alot with these sudden retitrements of that niners linebacker,  cj and mershawn maybe?

Our beloved Colts vs.the K.C Chiefs.  We are so excited, the last time we were in Indy, we suffered through the loss against the Falcons.  We had a good time in Indy, but did not enjoy watching Curtis Painter on the field while Peyton sat on the sidelines.

oh gosh. That mustve been the worst season for any colts fans to go through. I remember being 0-7 and being like, hopefully Peyton comes back next game and brings us to 9 straight wins and we go to the Super Bowl.

Man Colts org does not like to update the fans on QB injuries like Peyton and Luck. I guess they dont want to lose business so they say they are week to week until the end of the season where they say they are out for the season. LOL!

True..but we didn't play all our guys and we had a lot of O-linemen playing their first game..

We might have some backup good skill players ...

....it was fun..and we didn't get wasted like the Bears did

that is completely what worries me. Drafting the majority of oline of rookies. Not even the Patriots were able to manage that this past season, Brady was getting pummeled late in the season and not even Belichick  was able to resolve that. It cost them the game against the Broncos.

  5. Its been a while, havent been on this board since the Super Bowl. Did everyone miss me and my polls?!

Anyways, what Colts game are you going to this year? Whether it is home or away.

I am planning on traveling to Indy for the Chargers game (cutoff date for my vacation is in September so I will be heading out to Indy last week of the month) and travel up north for the Raiders game (Anyone else going? Afraid to go into Raiders territory as an away fan LOL)

finally, somebody who gets where I was getting at. Ive been getting bashed by everyone. LOL. Its just a thought that makes me feel guilty for all the money ive put in the NFL, a non profit organization, who does everything to make money and cover up brain research when technically not a non profit.

Its tough but they know what they are getting themselves into when they signed up for football.

Well, if you saw the movie, cte wasn't discovered until 2002. So relatively it's new and the nfl has done everything to cover it up and say it's not true. So technically unless your child was born in 2002, these guys don't know what they signed up for and the risks.

Are you boycotting zoos too because a arguably poor parent doesn't hold onto their child near a gorilla pen.

these are young men paid TOO MUCH money to play a game.  They have other options (including pan-handling or frying burgers as do we all.

Well then the pan handling or frying burgers guy should work harder to be that athlete or wealthy guy. It's their choice to live that lifestyle. You think these athletes are handed these jobs?

There is a 1 in a million chance your child grows up to be an athlete. Most of them take risks and fail. It's not easy to get to that point in the first place.

  9. After watching the movie concussion, it makes it hard to support football. We've seen a rise of young players going into retirement and I think this may be the sole reason they are retiring early but not saying it.

Is cte or brain damage risk really worth your health not only for themselves but for their family? It's not something happening only in football but boxing, wrestling, and soon to be ufc (it's a relatively new sport not around long enough to see the effects)

The NFL will do anything to say it isn't a serious problem but that mostly has to do with putting money into their pockets.

What were your thoughts after watching the movie concussion? I thought it was a great movie to bring awareness and now I see why Goodell is doing everything in his power to make football a safer sport but there is so much you can do but you can't prevent repeated hits.

Kelly is a very solid pick....one we needed....

...Nobody's a sure thing but he's played at the elite level and been very good

Gotta agree with you in this one. I think its a huge sign of relief that Jonathoon Harrison wont be starting at center anymore. Believe it or not, he really affected the rest of the line when he played. Take his first snap against the Carolina Panthers for example. That was a huuuuuge team killer that game...
