  1. Not on offense. He has no legit number 1 receiver. An average offensive line. He has a very good running back and that's bout it. No one other than Wilson, Lynch and maybe Okung would be considered top shelf talent.

The young QB getting the most out of the least is Cam Newton. That guy has HOF written all over him.  :D

  2. I have to disagree.   I think Russell Wilson is definitely proving himself to be one of the best of the young QB's out there.

I agree with you but Wilson plays on a much better team with far more offensive weapons. It is hard to compare the two of them. Newton is bigger, stronger and faster than Wilson. It seems like he scores a TD himself in most games. But it would be hard to argue that Newton and Wilson are not the best young QBs in the NFL and that is no slam against Andrew Luck.

  3. Silly OldBlu. Tricks are for kids.

Yes, I am OlBlu and I am not really allowed nor do I want to talk about Andrew Luck. I only replied to a post that was suggesting that Cam Newton was a top ten QB in the NFL and could move into the top five. Why didn't you have any problem with that comment?

  4. I want to see if Cam can keep it up.  He had a great rookie year, then a bad sophomore year.  To start this year, he was playing pretty poorly.  But he has turned it on as of late.  I want to see if he can keep it up for the next few years or if he continues to have these slow starts.  I wouldn't appoint him top 5 yet, but definitely top 10

He had a bad first half of his sophomore year and then he was lights out for the rest of the year. Newton is by far the best young QB in the game in my opinion.  :D

  5. I don't understand why you think we were fatally flawed for that decade? Didn't the Colts set a record for double figure win seasons then? Didn't the Colts get to two Super Bowls and win one of them? Isn't the entire rest of the NFL a pass first league? Perhaps those "fatally flawed" teams you mention were just way ahead of the rest of the NFL. :D

It also seems to me that most Super Bowl winning teams ride a great QB to that victory. We have a great young QB and it is time to get him some WR help and turn him loose.....  :D

  6. Blue man;  You misunderstood what I wrote

I really did not say we were fatally flawed...

Mr. Irsay did...He and coach Chuck have suggested we need to be a more balanced team.

That the offense we ran for 12 years with the Sherrif and last year with Mr. Lucky...is not a playoff..December January offense

and that's why we won 'only' one title.

If we are have a December/January offense..we may see it Sunday, a day when it might be difficult to throw downfield much.

Perhaps we were fortunate to win one title and have another good chance at one. I don't see the rest of the league trying to field power running teams unless they don't have what they need to throw the ball. I don't see this current method getting us to a Super Bowl ever. Now that is fatally flawed.   :D

  7.   The weather in Cincy Sunday will be low-grade..30 degrees and rainy

The idea of being a run-first 'balanced' team is to survive the post-season in bad weather..

    Are we that team?

If we insist on establishing the run...controlling the clock and pace of the game...possession passing

2 TEs, blocking back...control  using defense, strong kicking and conservative offense....that should show against the Bengals Sunday, right?   Not 'are we totally built to be that team'," but are we better built to handle this Sunday that we would have been last year?

If, as Chuck and Mr. Irsay hint, we were fatally flawed to be the pass-first team for a decade isn't this, our first real bad weather game in 2 years...late in the season on the road against a contender..

..the first test of that logic?

    Your thoughts.

I don't understand why you think we were fatally flawed for that decade? Didn't the Colts set a record for double figure win seasons then? 8. Yeah, that didn't make much sense to me either. We're definitely struggling at the moment, but I wouldn't say the season has gone "poorly" at all.

I wouldn't either. The Colts should finish either 10-6 or 11-5. That is a great year for any team and considering the Colt's injuries, it is a great record.  :D

  9. This is tough especially considering the way we've been playing lately. It's a real possibility that we could go winless the rest of the season. Cincinnati will demolish us if the offensive line does not play better. They have a really good defense and their passing game is good as well.

I like have both Houston and Jacksonville at home but neither team is a pushover and Jacksonville is starting to win games now. We haven't exactly lit it up at home either. I'm not one to push the panic button but things are looking shaky at best.

I am more optimistic than that. I think they win at least two of the last four and perhaps three. The injuries have hurt them badly but I expect them to rebound and I think Luck will be allowed to sling it a bit more.  :D

  10. This is a myth. Luck has one of the quickest releases in the league. When you have recievers who get no separation and an oline that gives you no time on pretty much every down, it leaves little room for error as a QB.

It is no myth. It is a fact. I don't think anyone has questioned his release but just how long he takes to do it and how rarely he looks to his secondary receivers. Time Peyton Manning and then time Luck. The difference is very significant. Now, I don't think it is a permanent problem. As you say, his release is fine. He just needs to make faster decisions and get rid of the ball.

  11. Totally disagree. Kid has ZERO time to hold the ball too long. He has to step up or leave the pocket all together within 2.5 seconds on every snap. Saying he holds the ball too long, imply's he actually has time to make his reads, and decides to hold it instead. For the record, that absolutely never happens.

Peyton would be rid of the ball sooner than that. Luck has always been slow getting rid of the ball. He is a tremendous young talent but that is the one serious flaw in his game. I am not sure ANY offensive line could protect him from taking a beating.

  12. If Julius Thomas plays, that is a BIG boost for Peyton. Whenever Peyton did well vs the Patriots as a Colt, Dallas Clark was a big factor. He definitely missed that big TE in the Pats game, IMO.

I still expect the Broncos to pull out a close one at KC. The only way KC stays close is if the KC offense jumps out to a 10 pt. lead and keep Peyton playing from behind consistently thus letting their run game control tempo now that Vickerson is out for 6 weeks.

As always, it will come down to the passing game of Peyton and possibly passing game of Alex Smith.

I don't think Thomas is that big of a deal. Jacob played well last week and he played like an all star when he replaced Clark. TE will not be the reason they lose if that happens......  :36dancing:

  13. Ten things I think

    1. We are not playing well at the moment and are quite capable of losing all our remaining games. Perhaps that's a good thing.

    2. A month ago, our Defense was all over Manning and Co., like a team possessed. Now we looks like a Defense that has been repossessed and put up for sale. It leads me to think our coaching is failing.

    3. Whilst Luck has carried this team on its shoulders to many a win, he is running out of steam, and confidence. His development is under threat by our inability to protect him.

    4. TY Hilton is not as good as people have made out. A possible flash in the pan. Great young players stand up when the pressure is on. He's not doing so.

    5. Injuries affect all teams. Squad depth carries the good teams over the line. We knew we lacked depth, and it is now becoming the reality we all secretly (or openly) feared.

    6. Coaching. Something is not working. We are too predictable, too conservative, and unwilling to accept we are going backwards. Opposing teams are working us out. Pagano's inexperience is showing.

    7. The Richardson trade smells of failure. We loaded the dice to fit our team strategy, and it is not working. It was worth a try, but it is not looking good at this point. I hope we don't make it worse by trying too hard to save face. A good Front Office will take its lumps and move on.

    8. Our punter is over-rated. I said it last year, and I'll say it again. Boo me if you like.

    9. We have a great fan base, but we are not owed a Dynasty. Most teams have not enjoyed the relative success we've enjoyed this last decade, so we shouldn't expect it just because we got a great young QB. My expectations have been well and truly tempered, but I can live with that.

    10. We have a good core of young players, and we can still build a very successful franchise under Luck, but we need better management off the field (trades, drafts and coaching) or we will fail to reach the heights we all thought possible after our fairy tale of a season last year.

I'm still going to hold out hope and will certainly enjoy the (bumpy) ride.

These are just some randon thoughts, so no need to bash, or argue or agree.

I think TY is a decent receiver but not a number one. I agree with most of what you said. Not all trades and free agent signings work out and neither do draft choices. I think a big difference between the current GM and Polian is Polian's ability to select low round draft picks and undrafted free agents very effectively.  :36dancing:

  14. Where have you been OleBlue? We missed you....

I missed all of you too. I am trying to be back with a kinder more gentle approach. I have alerted the mods about who I am and I have attempted no disguise. That post is probably the most controversial that I have made.  It was OlBlu by the way.....  I kept my little symbol just to let everyone know who I was....

  15. Please explain how a rookie adjusting to NFL speed and simultaneously learning an entirely new position and both roles that come with it constitutes a guaranteed bust. He is and always was a project player.

There is the problem. You do not draft a "project" player in the first round. I agree the poster that Werner will be a bust and if Polian had made that pick, people would be screaming and pointing out who we could have had. I am also not sold on drafting Fleener and Allen either but the jury is still out on those picks.

  16. Dude is completely dominating yet again and I don't hear anyone throw his name in for DPOY.

He already has 61 pressures this year compared to the 76 he had all of last year. He's still by far the best defensive player in the NFL.

Is it because the Texans aren't winning?

He is the best defensive player in the NFL and he is having another DPOY type season. However, that award will always go to someone on a winning team  :36dancing:

  17. I'm all for second chances my man wasn't trying to attack you in my previous quote or anything of the nature. Hope this time around is a lot more positive my man!!!!

I didn't take it that you were. You just noted you had seen my picture, something like my name and my little symbol :36dancing:  I am more positive in general and more positive than many who are posting here right now. But, I didn't start the year fooling myself that the Colts were Super Bowl contenders. Now, with all of the injuries, they have to scrap just to try and eke out wins. But, under the circumstances, that is to be expected.  :36dancing:
