  1. That only happened bcause the coverage was playing 20 yards off in prevent, Those will be smothered by a linebacker in a close/not blowout game.

Hey, Dustin, check this out. Are you going to take this guy to task for saying they were in a prevent defense? Are you going to accuse him of not watching the game?  :D

  2. If I made the game plan for this week, my first possession would be no huddle, with 3 WRs (TY, Lavon and Da'rick). I would run as much hurry up offense/no huddle as possible in the first half. I would tell the offense we are going to play from the opening kick as if we are already down 21-0 and now we need to move the ball quickly down the field to get back in the game. I would keep the O-Line from the Cincy game intact as that was the best pass blocking we've had in a while. I would try to stay out of third downs and get bigger chunks by running deeper routes with all three WRs. I would run the ball from audibles when the box was "unstacked". I would run at least 2 or 3 gadget or trick plays.

I think every team we have played this year knows our game plan is always the same, every single week, try to run, conservative play calling to start and take small chunks to get to third and short. My primary purposes for this game plan was to get as much work as possible for the young receivers but more importantly, Make Kansas City wonder what we will do next week when we play then. Will we go back to conservative for them or sling it. Give them more to prepare for.

What would your game plan look like?

My game plan would be to try and protect Luck from J.J. Watt at all cost. Letting that big guy lose could cost you a season or a career. If you come out passing like that, I think Watt will have a field day knocking down passes and attacking Luck which could be unlucky for the Colts.   :D

  3. In a perfect world, we'd find or have an inside linebacker who is a monster against the run and great in coverage. Actually, we'd have two of them, like the Niners with Willis and Bowman. The world is NOT perfect, and after looking at a lot of the free agents and draft prospects at ILB, I think we'd be better off getting a guy who can do one or the other really well, rather than one who is average at both.

So if you had to choose between an inside backer who was excellent against the run, but struggled in coverage, vs one who isn't that good against the run but covers really well, which would you choose? Which do you think would complement our current defensive personnel the best? Which would make the most difference to our defense?

I am not sure it makes any sense to take anyone who is weak at either skill. But, to answer your question in the pass happy NFL, give me the cover guy. Not that many teams are built to beat you on the ground.  :D

  4. I think the main thing is that Houston hasn't beaten the Colts in Indy, ever.

I just like our chances based on that fact, and that we don't lose back-to-back games.

That is the silliest statistic that Colts fans throw around. It won't last, it is not a matter of if the Colts will eventually lose back to back games but when. In fact, they are very overdue to have that happen. I don't think it will happen this year unless they lose to KC and decide to tank on Jacksonville which is possible, I guess.   :D

  5. I'm curious as to who the 1st and 2nd round players that would be making a difference if we could draft them this year would be?  I think Trent Richardson will develop just fine, and I think Vontae Davis is a good corner?  I am just interested in who are the better two choices that we could have obtained in the next draft?

Richardson has shown nothing and giving a one for him was a terrible decision. It doesn't take long for RBs to develop and an argument could be made that you never spend a high draft pick on one. Vontae Davis has shown signs that he can be a good corner but he isn't consistent enough and I wouldn't not have given a number two pick for him in hindsight. At the time, I too thought it was a good deal. As for the Richardson trade, a good middle of the first round draft pick should be pretty damn good. Perhaps even a pro bowl class offensive or defensive lineman. This team needs lots of help at different positions and it will be harder to get them without those two draft picks. Do you think anyone would give Indy a one for Richardson or a two for Davis now?  :D

  6. Just accept the fact that Dungy underachieved with the talent given to him. I don't know why fans like you feel the need to give Dungy extra credit for Tampa after Gruden actually won with "his" team.

Dungy was winning there. Gruden just got them to the Super Bowl. I don't care if you are a Dungy hater but he did a great job in Tampa and an even better job in Indy. Will you give him credit when he goes into the HoF? I doubt it. :D

  7. Sapp is a fool. Dungy was never GM. In fact, the core of that team, Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch were drafted by Sam Wyche. Gruden won more playoff games in one year than Dungy did in his entire career in Tampa.

Then you never give the coach any credit for building a team? Yes, those players were drafted by Wyche but it was Dungy's system that made them winners. That not winning playoff games is why Dungy was fired in Tampa. That doesn't mean that the team Gruden inherited was not his because it certainly was. It was just like the team that Caldwell took to the Super Bowl was Dungy's team whether you like it or not. :D

  8. I'm kind of amazed that we have no heard much discussion on Ryan Grigson in this quandary. I think some of the apprehension that surrounds the Colts falls on his shoulders. he was the guy who signed some of these free agents  that have not panned out, he is the one who mastered the trade for Richardson, he is the one who kinda left us vulnerable at Wide receiver. I'm still waiting for some of the FA we signed to start earning their pay check, yes I know injuries have played a part but I'm concerned. The DB, are potentially good but that hasn't panned out. Not real fond of Vonte Davis's play, Greg Toler we have not seen, where is Eric Walden, He is earning a lot of money to be average. In closing I think some heat also has to go his way for where we are at, right now.

When any team starts taking on lots of free agents it is a sign of desperation in my eyes. There is a reason their old teams let them go. I am pretty sure that the average of those that work out that are not names Peyton Manning is far south of 50%. That is why Polian didn't believe in signing them. Grigson is not Bill Polian and that is not a good thing. Trading those top two draft picks will put this team behind for years to come unless Richardson turns into a star and that doesn't seem likely. Davis is better but he seems inconsistent. All in all, I would rather have the two draft picks but that is just my opinion.  :D

  9. Dungy didn't build the Bucs and Mora didn't build the Colts.

I don't know what world you are living in but Dungy certainly did build the Bucs. Gruden came in with the same players and won a Super Bowl. Dungy didn't quite get there with them. Ask Warren Sapp who built that team.  :D

  10. Gruden won with a team that Dungy built? By that rationale Dungy won with a team Jim Mora built.

That is silly and Gruden certainly won with a team Dungy built but he couldn't maintain that winning tradition. Mora built nothing and the Colts were very bad until Dungy took over. I would take Dungy as a coach any time.  :D

  11.      It all depends on whether the Texans have quit...

They've played so many close games.....and lost them all

Teams react inconsistently when coaches get fired.

There is reason for concern here because Houstons defense is very capable and they can run the ball.

I would take the Texans if I can get 7 points.

..but the Colts did score 28 in the second half last week...and it is Andrew vs. Case

I would take the Texans with those points now if they were starting Schaub. But, I agree with you that you would need more with Case starting. They are a dangerous team and if their defense, especially Watt, has a big day it will be tough to beat them. They have continued to play hard and I don't think that will change.  :D

  12. Apparently you're allowed to troll, get banned 3-4 different times, and still be able to post tho.

I think Dustin is my own personal stalker. I am not a troll. I was never banned 3-4 different times and I came back and let the mods know who I was and I promised that I would never be rude and I would do my very best to stay within the guidelines. They were kind enough to give me another chance. It would be nice if you would do that too.  :D

  13. We face the Texans, Chief's and the Jaguars. We've already wrapped up the division and will play in the playoffs. So I see this as a great opportunity to give guys like Studabaker, Adongo, Nixon, Holmes, Hughes, and a few others some playing time to see what they've got. I think we should let Luck work on his timing with the receivers, especially with Rogers, but pull him out after the first drive in the third quarter.

Lastly, I don't care if we win any of the following three games. In fact, if we lose all three, I would argue it may be better for us in the long run. We would help to ruin the draft positions of both the Texans and the Jaguars, and help to improve our own.

    A) Who would you like to see get extra playing time?

    B) How do you feel about winning or losing any of the next three games?

This team needs work with its best players. Not playing them would make them a complete walkover in the playoffs which they may be anyway but this would assure it and it will cost you some of the fan base who don't forgive that kind of action. Now, the last game, which will mean nothing is a different story and resting players who are playing hurt would be a good thing.  :D

  14. Sure seems to me that he has that deer in the headlights look on the sidelines. I don't think anybody can feel that we go into any game feeling we're going to out coach anybody. Honeymoon is over bud. Fair or not, expectations have changes and YOU were the one that refused to use the word rebuild.

He may refuse to use the word "rebuild" but that is what he was doing last year and this year. It is not often that any coach survives a rebuild. Sooner or later the team will not win at the level that is expected and a change will be made. Perhaps not this year or next year but I think Pagano will be replaced in the near future.  :D

  15. I can name several starters on Denver's defense that I wouldn't trade for. For all of their offensive prowess, their D has been mediocre at times...and might be their undoing in the playoffs, again.

That is why I only mentioned the offense. However, you could pick other good teams and compare the defenses. How well do the Colts defenders match up with Houston's defenders for instance? I guess Mathis might make any team but beyond that?  :D

  16. as a team are the colts playing under, over, or at their talent level? break it down by groups if you want to, example, rbs, lbs and etc.

How about looking at it this way and I am sorry I am using Denver as an example, I just know them better all around than any other team in the NFL not names Colts. Take Denver's entire offense man for man and compare it to Indy's offense. Do the Colts have one player that could crack that starting lineup at any position? I don't think they do and that should tell you all you need to know. Now, compare the coaching staffs. Would Denver trade any member of their coaching staff for a member of the Colt's staff? I don't think so. I am sure this same comparison can be made with other good teams too but this is the comparison I know pretty well.  :D

  17. That's not true at all.

Suggestion: If you didn't watch the game, don't comment on it and pretend like you did.

I watched the game and it is true. You can make up all you want but the fact is that the Colts did nothing on offense until Cincy went into eat the clock up mode and allowed those short passes. Several other people have noted this here, did you take them to task and accuse them of not watching the game?  :D

  18. My prediction for next years team:

    Qb: Luck

    RB:  1. Richardson 2. Ballard 3. Rainey

    WR's: 1. Wayne 2. Rogers 3. Hilton 4. Brazill

    TE's: Allen/Fleener

    Oline- Costanzo/Thomas/Mack/Thornton/Cherilus

    D-line- Redding/Chapman/Jean-Francois

    LB's- Mathis/Freeman/FA or draftee/Werner

    DB's- Landry/Byrd or Howell/Davis/Toler

If that is the team you bring back, I think it will be a long season. They need some free agents and some draft choices who work out. I look for Houston to be next years KC and to come back strong under a new coach with some new faces added. They, like KC, have some really good players in place. I think they will be the biggest threat to the Colts. .500 will win the South this year but probably not next year.

  19. Just a little prediction thread, so Da'Rick Rogers, after his 1st start (Not sure if he really started, but he was our 2nd receiver, since we only started out with 1 in the game) finished with 6 rec 107 yards and 2 TD's. We knew he had talent, the measurables (6'3 220, 4.5 speed, 40 inch vertical) so my question to everybody, how good do you predict Rogers will be, not how good CAN he be, but how good WILL he be?

He has potential but you can't start making him a number one receiver after one decent game against a prevent defense. Let's see what he can do in a close game when they are playing tight. If he does well there, you can start getting excited. There are also his off field problems that may or may not crop up in the future. :D

  20. I have no clue what you were watching. I did see some hurries and pressures, but this O line looked miles better than it has the past few weeks.

Well, they didn't get a lot of pressure because of Cincy's big lead. They were playing prevent defense and giving up short passes and yardage to burn clock. I would take anything from this game about the O line's play.  :D
