  1. I thought the USA Today comments on the game this week are interesting. I don't agree with all of it but most of it seems right on the mark.

"After playing solid defense early in the season, the Colts have come undone. They've surrendered an average of 31.1 points in their last seven games. Indianapolis ranks 29th against the run and has been getting steadily worse. The Texans, who are led by interim coach Wade Phillips, are turning back to QB Case Keenum as their starter despite a miserable outing that got him benched in a loss to the Jaguars.

Last week, Texans WR Andre Johnson had 13 catches for 154 yards to tie Jerry Rice for the most games (10) with 10-catches and at least 150 yards. ... The Colts have won 10 of the last 13 meetings."

My own view is that this will be a close game with Houston pounding the Colts on the ground even with Arian Foster out with injury. There won't be much of a margin for error for either team. It seems to me that the Texans are a much better team than their record indicates and they have lost a lot of close games. The Colts may not be as good as their record indicates right now mostly due to injuries to important players. Phillips wants to be the head coach next year and I think he will pull out all of the stops to try and get a win. The Colts will try to get the win but not at the risk of further injury to players who are hurt or exposing Andrew Luck to potential punishment from J.J. Watt. It will not surprise me which team wins but I do think it will be close and if it is, I think the Colts have the advantage in that situation.  :D

  2. Overrated:  I am not allowed to comment on this player but I would guess everyone should know who its it is.

Underrated: Peyton Manning. Even with all of the attention he got when he was here it wasn't adequate for the player he was and what he accomplished. He is under appreciated to this day. Four MVPs, a Super Bowl win and a Super Bowl MVP (and I am sure someone will bounce in and say that he shouldn't have won that, it should have gone to an over-the-hill running back). When that happens it will prove what I say that Manning was underrated and under appreciated in Indianapolis.  :D

  3. They sure looked like crud last night to a 6-7 team at home!

Not making any excuses for them but San Diego is a much better team than that record indicates. Look at what they did to the Colts. And, just like the Colts, Denver had lots of player injured and I think the schedule just caught up to them. They have ten days before the next game and that will get some injured players back and some rest for a very tired team. The rest won't hurt Peyton either.  :D

  4. Yeah, I don't think people realize the author of this piece is a 19 yr old IU student who used to write for Stampede Blue.

Does that make him incapable or writing a good article? I thought the article was well thought out and well presented. He thinks Luck is going to be a great QB but he is making lots of mistakes right now. It is hard to disagree with that if you really look at it with an open mind. He is only a second year QB but he is in a very bad situation with poor receivers and a very bad offensive line. What QB wouldn't struggle and make some mistakes considering that?  :D

  5. as recently as 2011 he had 51 catches and 702 yards......2012 he only played 10 games and was only targeted 29 times, if you don't get the targets then you cant produce, he is 34 not 44, several wr's play inot there late 30's

Ocho Cinco is also available as is TO. Hell, why not bring in Jerry Rice? Why do you think he was only targeted 29 times? He can't get separation anymore.  :D

  6. How did Watt do the first meeting this year?

I think he played well. Isn't that the game where the coach had a mini-stroke and collapsed at half time and then the team did the same thing in the second half?  I don't the game will be a gimme. Knocking off the Colts in Indy would be a big dose of redemption for them. I think they play Denver soon too and I also expect them to play well against the Broncos. That doesn't mean that they will win but they are dangerous.  :D

  7. Colts 28 Texans 17

    Rogers 2 TDs

    Hilton 1 TD

    Butler INT return TD

I think the Colts will win a close game 24-21. This Texan team is going to turn a corner eventually and play up to their potential. If that defense really gets going and putting lots of heat on Luck, it could be different. I expect a great game from J.J. Watt.  :D

  8. Hows your motorhome going blu?

still trolling it up i see

I don't do any trolling. I think this is a fair statement. Who will they try out next, Hines Ward? Isn't TO still available? The motorhome is great. I am currently in Texas working and I will be until after January 1.  :D

  9.

The Indianapolis Colts worked out former New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch, according to a league source.

The former Super Bowl XXXIX Most Valuable Player wasn't immediately signed to a contract. The Colts also auditioned former Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins running back Shaun Draughn and wide receiver Ty West.

Branch, 34, last played for the Patriots last season, catching 16 passes for 145 yards and no touchdowns.

Branch is a former Patriots second-round draft pick from Louisville who has caught 518 career passes for 6,644 yards and 39 touchdowns.

Branch has also played for the Seattle Seahawks.

During the Feb. 6, 2005 Super Bowl, Branch caught 11 passes for 133 yards to tie Jerry Rice and Dan Ross' Super Bowl reception record.

Well, there is a sign of desperation if there ever was one. That guy is very old and over the hill.  :D

  10. AlI have to say is everyone else has to realize he is back, or is it just me?

    :36dancing:  :36dancing:  :36dancing:  :36dancing:  :36dancing:  :36dancing:

No, it is not you and I have told everyone that I am OlBlu but a more gentle, kinder and less opinionated version. I also more positive about the Colts than before. The mods know who I am.  :D

  11. So you're giving up on him after 13 games...

...because it's not like there's any chance he's going to progress in this league.

I just don't see it. I am sure they will keep him around for three years to try and justify the pick but I doubt he makes much progress. He has 1/2 sack for the year does he not? So, yes, I have given up on him.  :D

  12. If we'd taken a receiver with Werner and Xavier Rhodes still on the board I'd have thrown up a little.

By the way have you heard the saying that the teams that generally make it to the Superbowl are the ones that got hot and healthy at the right time? Why do you think they say that? As I and others have said, injuries are no excuse to just give up on a season but they will definitely play a factor in the team's success.

I think drafting an old shoe might have been as good as drafting Werner. I just don't see that guy making it in the NFL and I didn't when they drafted him. Lots of good players were taken at different positions after him. If there wasn't anyone we wanted in the first round, we should have traded out of it and gotten more lower round picks. The Patriots do that very well. OK, so blame injuries. You can wipe of any season and use that old excuse.  :D

  13. so disregard those numbers. Gotcha

They were published in the NY Times article about Grigson and the Colts today. The article is available on a thread here.  :D

Even one of last year’s successful decisions — trading a second-round pick for Miami cornerback Vontae Davis — has come into question. According to Pro Football Focus, quarterbacks have a 106.4 passer rating on throws to players covered by Davis, who has just one interception while allowing a league-leading eight touchdowns.

  14. so disregard those numbers. Gotcha

No. I think the numbers are accurate, why don't you check on it. I didn't write down the source but I had no reason to believe it was not accurate. I am sure one of the stat freaks here would be glad to let us know where to check or produce a source for us.  :D

  15. Lol he had a season ending hip surgery. It was a freak accident.

Btw, John Clayton thinks hes really good. I know how much his opinion means to you.

It is always a freak accident isn't it. How well do folks come back from that surgery. What makes you think he will make a good return from that surgery. I hope he does but I already had my doubts and they are even greater now.  :D

  16. Injured all the time? His hip injury is the only injury he's suffered in his NFL career.

As for his numbers, Arians didt use TEs as a receiving threat. Allens per route/run numbers were some of the top in the nfl, he had the lowest drop rate among TEs and was near the top in terms of yards after the catch.

If you honestly think Allen is anywhere near a bust then you football knowledge is lower than I originally thought, which is saying a lot because for someone who doesnt know what a prevent defense or a west coast offense is to lose even more credibility is incredible.

Hasn't Allen missed all but one game this year? I would say that is a lot of missed time for a second year player. The fact is he is listed at 21 as a TE. If you want to blame that on his coach (you sure have a lot of excuses ready) then that is up to you. Right now, we are not getting what a high draft pick should deliver. I will give the jury is out but it doesn't look good right now but if your expectations for a pick that high are as low as yours well, you probably think that Werner is an all pro....  :D
