Booger and Rob Morris were two huge reasons we won that sb. Morris went into that phone booth and changed from Clark Kent to superman. Not sure what finally clicked for him, but glad it did.

Absolutely adding McFarland and a healthy Bob Sanders brought Indianapolis its  first championship

  2. Obviously, the Booth didn’t see it but if some of the players on the Colts side would have been pointing at it, it may have been reviewed. There certainly is no guarantee if we get that first down, we’re gonna score a touchdown. Uncle Rico was just horrible in passing accuracy, I know he admitted he should’ve admitted better, but he really should have put that on himself completely, and let Goodson off because Goodson was moving to his left towards the sidelines. All momentum was going that direction and uncle Rico just threw it behind him. that’s a very difficult past  to catch I played high school football as a safety and I’ll tell you those catches are very hard to make because you have 200 pounds of momentum going to the left in the ball is thrown to the right I’m sorry that’s the veteran not the rookie

  3. I like what he has done this season on a in the big picture and he was in a very difficult position to be the starter for like 13 games. What I don’t understand is how he was just so off target in the biggest game of the year. I know this has been discussed, but I just don’t see the Colts resigning him. Thoughts??

  4. I strongly disagree. Bradley  is very conservative and even though we don’t have all of our players on defense I just don’t like his style and what else is Coach going to say. I get a feeling that when he looks at his own options, he may pick somebody else over the choice he was forced to take.

I think it would have helped. Pitt is the only legit receiver we had this year. Downs started out strong but disappeared and the only thing Pierce can do is block and catch the occasional long ball.

Let’s get this straight Gooden was heading to his right toward the sideline, and uncle Rico threw it behind him, which made that a very very difficult catch because he is falling away from the ball. I’m sorry that would’ve been darn your impossible for any of our receivers it was a bad throw like it was all night. He missed Goodson on the 5 yard line flowing 10 feet over his head out of bounds on that first drive. He had no touch on the Mo Allie Cox sideline play. QB had a very bad day when we needs him to only needed to be average. He’s probably 65 or 70% of the reason why we lost that game.

I'm not going to be posting any grades save maybe just a few on stand-out players.

I'll try to rank grades as follows:

    • Elite 90+
    • Great 80-89
    • Good 70-79
    • Above Average 65-69
    • Average 56-64
    • Below Average 50-55
    • Bad <50

For reference the baseline grade is 60.0 - the average. To make it easier for me I've made some PFF-grade intervals for each of the above categories (see above). Fewer grades under average because once you get into that area under "Below average" there's not much point in grading it - it's just not good enough.

Comments on grades for Offense, Defense and ST, week 18

Seeing as the cat's out of the bag on week 1-3 grades (my bad), I'll keep them here and make comments on the latest game.

    Offense -  (week3/week2/week 1)

    (55.2/74.7/53.1) - Overall Offense

Above Average - A decent offensive performance of course driven by a great run game behind JT.

    (49.3/80.6/49.2) - Passing

Average - Minshew's limitation showed up again and unfortunately decided the game.

    (65.3/70.9/68.3) - Pass blocking

Good - Pass blocking was good overall.

    (62.3/63.2/57.1) - Receiver routes

Average - The Texans shut down Pittman and that really hurt our offense.

    (61.4/67.4/38.8) - Run game

Great - JT had a DAY.

    (45.4/82.9/62.3) - Run blocking

Average - One of our poorer days run blocking actually - 5th worst this season.

Besides the run game there wasn't much to celebrate.

    Defense - (week3/week2/week 1)

    (57.7/62.3/78.9) - Overall Defense

Average - Run defense was solid, but tackling and coverage was bad.

    (43.1/74.4/83.4) - Run defense

Good - Solid run defense. Singletary didn't get much done.

    (39.0/51.8/66.4) - Tackling

Bad - The achilles heel of the defense this season. Terrible tackling.

    (67.4/72.5/73.3) - Passrush

Average - We needed more pressure on Stroud.

    (62.1/50.0/66.2) - Coverage

Bad - Some costly mistakes by our safeties cost us 2 TDs.

Another performance leaving a lot to be desired.

    Special Teams - (week3/week2/week 1)

    (54.7/69.8/78.3) - Special Teams

Average - If only Gay had made that field goal, we could've kicked another at the end instead of going for a TD.

Final game of Minshew hopefully. Nelson had a great game and Smith was elite in run blocking, but besides those two we got no run blocking done. Downs had a few good actions, but Pittman and Pierce were non-factors. Mo had a couple catches - a 2-pt. conversion among them. Granson had a long catch, but didn't do much besides that. Mallory got injured. JT had the best game of all I feel. Basically was our offense. Moss had some good runs too. Goodson... yeah..

DIs and DEs did well overall, but the secondary crumbled.

Most of our team is mediocre or bad. Minchew’s numbers are never that good.

if we are using hindsight, then had he made it, we could have tied at the end instead of going for it on 4th and 1. He had just made a 50 plus yarder at the end of first half. It had the distance, just a few inches too far right.

Steichen trusts his players. What else is he supposed to do?

Punt and put them inside the 10

It was a difference of 14 yards, correct? If it is a fair catch, you get it at the 25, and with this missed FG, they got it at the 39, correct? Yeah, we could pin them at the 10 to 15 yard range and gain another 10 yards but Bradley was blitzing yesterday and mixing it up, I felt. Just that we did not make enough plays.

That’s true on a kickoff not a punt otherwise no one ever gets pins inside the 5 yard line

When Lawrence hasn’t played up to expectations it’s been due to two things.

    1.   Bad HC in Y1.

    2.   Injuries in Y3.

Otherwise, he’s been pretty darn good.

I hope you watched the game today. His throws were all over the place. He overthrew at least five people in the fourth quarter. His shoulder can’t be that badly hurt if he can throw a 70 yard bass. He is just inaccurate.

    Jags with Lawrence 3-14, 9-8, 9-8.

Colts fans it could’ve been worse. We’re all hoping that Richardson is the real deal and I can stay healthy. It’s funny to think with the season would’ve been. If he was quarterback, I would imagine would be in the playoffs right now.

  10. I’m sorry I’m not ready to be glass half full. I witnessed a game last night that if I told you we ran for 220 yards, and we lost a lot of people would not believe it. I’m afraid this is the league where you’re looked at but another season of promise and failure

    3 minutes ago, Indeee said:

No it didn't. The Bills would have to lose for Pitt to get in. Bills play tonight

    And they did

  11. I had an expectation that if a team we’ve already beat that hasn’t played a primetime game all season would come to Indianapolis and we beat them. No matter how you whitewash the season. It’s not about moral victories it’s not about playing with house money. The Colts simply failed yesterday. A lot of people feel that way in for a while.

  13. We need…

Another productive WR Pierce can’t be counted on. Downs will be a great shot player FA ix s better option it’s more costly but we need proven experience

Man to Man CB we let Gilmore go and we never replaced him with proven talent. We drafted Brents and Jones but they have flaws. We let every team through under on us and we need to make that better

LB we need to upgrade Leonard’s former position. Can Ballard find another gem in the draft

I doubt that Steichen gives a damn about the COTY award.

Doesn’t matter. Dysfunctional playcalling I’m still just shaking my head that with a run being so solid we saw very little play action. I’m pretty sure Shane  was making those calls. Minshew looked horrible too many terrible throws. It was his fault on the 4th down he threw behind Goodson on a simple pitch and catch. Goodson was wide open on the first drive and that was a terrible throw. 1 touchdown is unacceptable at home and in a must win game. He is not a starting QB because he has deficiencies

  15. Stroud said Indy is a lazy town. Talk about locker room material and our defense weren’t very pumped up. We sit in the 60 yard line so a great view of our bench. Houston was jumping around before the game snd we looked stoic. It just seemed a bit strange.

So thoughts about the game seeing it live and on tv..

The offense was out of sync and we run the ball like that and we do not use play action??  It worked perfectly on the 2 point conversion but seldom used again. Houston would fill the box stopping the run and we still ran. They were daring us to throw the ball and with our run being so effective during the game it drives me crazy why we didn’t use play action to bring their safeties up. This is where I think coach really was weak I like him otherwise, but he’ll learn from this, hopefully, but Menchew was awful on the first drive, he missed a wide-open Goodson on the 5 yard line. He overthrew Cox on that sideline pattern. He only completed 13 passes last night so Houston dared us to let our quarterback beat them and Ryans was smarter.

  16. This is why Minshew is NOT a starting QB he choked big-time. We get the ball with 640 left and it was the most *ic plays that put us in a situation to be forced down. I really think if #MIN could’ve completed half of the passes he threw today we win the game, but my goodness was he so accurate no one’s gonna offer a lot of money to have them on their team after seeing that mess

  17. I don’t want to  hear about playing with house money victories. I think that was Minshew’s  worst game of the season the season. so inaccurate showing little touch in the passing game. And I got a problem with coaching tonight when Houston kept the box up and we kept running into the teeth of the defense. Why in heavens name do we never do any action. It worked on the two point conversion and they never tried it again coach but he was definitely out class tonight by a rookie coach Ryans. We all saw the same thing such a vanilla And even though the defense played well at times, they rolled over and let Houston down the field to take Then you have six minutes and 40 seconds left we were gifted a missed extra point and yet we can’t put it in the end zone. I hope BRADLEY gets his walking papers tomorrow. This soft zone and lack of blitzing is pedantic. Yes, I’m ticked off as many of us. We should not have lost that game being at home, but I saw some players really taking plays off. And I hope that those players aren’t here next year. I hope Coach has a come to Jesus meeting with the entire team. I’m done I’m sitting in the parking lot trying to go home and I’m ticked.
