  1. The overthrown pass and the sack fumble is the only thing the national media sees. They convieniently forget his 80 touchdown drive.

Good Call. The Sack fumble wasnt even his fault. Costanzo was beaten quickly on that play and Polamalu was in the right spot at the right time as usual. The overthrow was his fault, but unless mistaken I think it was his first or second pass of the season, and three games in Kerry continues to overthrow recievers and show little or no touch on the short stuff....I never thought I would be happy to have Painter as a backup until now.

  2. Exactly,i love how some posters say trade down get picks and draft another qb later.Let the colts scouts and polian decide, they know we just think we know.ifwe pass and he is he next peyton we will regret it for a time.I do believe we will be in the top 3,unfortunately.

If they let him go IF they had an opportunity to get him....especially if he wound up in our conference. Nothing is Guaranteed and we have seen plenty of Busts from the first round, but I havent seen anything From Barkley or Jones that makes me believe they would be such a better bargain later in the rounds.

  3. If we pull out a win vs. the Bucs (which there is a real shot, believe it or not) then we could easily win 3 games in a row. We have Bucs, Chiefs, and then Bengals.

That is absolutely true. The Bucs would be the toughest of the three obviously, but if we managed to play the way we did VS. Pittsburgh for a few weeks we could find ourselves at .500, and in a Division that is weak(outside of the Texans) you never know, but I dont have a strong feeling about the Colts competing for anything this year.

  4. There are a ton of threads this can be said about right now... It's like losing has induced and epidemic of stupidity...

I see you in nearly every thread you post in calling the Majority of the Posters there stupid.....yet you never seem to add anything concrete of your own. Do you need a hug?

  5. Well I'll take your word for you weren't comparing the offenses but that's definitely how it sounded. IMO putting Luck into our offense is no more a risk than putting Landry Jones (who runs more of a spread offense in college) into a pro style offense. There is no guarantee either way that the change will work.

However, you were referring to the intelligence of a Stanford QB correct? So if Stanford QB's are that much more intelligent than QB's from other schools then Stanford must have a rich history of sending Quality QB's to the NFL right? Yeah, except they haven't:

From this link..http://blogs.mercurynews.com/collegesports/2010/04/21/pac-10-football-quarterbacks-in-the-nfl-draft-past-present-and-future/ (and if the information from this link is incorrect then by all means let me know...I'd be surprised, though, if they couldn't accurately put together a list of QB's that came from Pac-10 schools. Also I've only pasted the QB's that have come from Stanford, not the other Pac-10 teams)

    2007

round 3 – Trent Edwards, Stanford

    2002

round 5 – Randy Fasani, Stanford

    2000

round 6 – Todd Husak, Stanford

    1995

    round 4- Steve Stenstrom, Stanford

The best case could be made for Trent Edwards, people seem to like him. However the fact remains that in his 5th year he has yet to amount to anything. Therefore, you're "I was referring to the intelligence of a Stanford Quarterback." holds no water.

Also to disprove another statement, I am not a Luck detractor. I am a "Colts drafting a QB #1 overall" detractor. If Luck has an off year or Landry Jones has a monster year and Luck is no longer the #1 prospect, we trade down and pick him up a couple of picks later but still acquire additional picks in the trade, then fine, I have much less problem with that. The one concern I have about Luck is that his arm strength is a question.

    taken from http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2011/5/7/2158523/andrew-luck-player-profile

And I'm not even going to address the Manning/Leaf situation because that was an incredibly different scenario. First, there will be as many quarterbacks drafted in rounds 1 & 2 as there were drafted in all 7 rounds the year Manning/Leaf came out. Also, when we had the #1 pick back then and were trying to decide between Leaf and Manning, we didn't have a future HOF QB on the roster who, by all current accounts, still has 3-4 years left in him. As I and others have stated numerous times, this is all we have to go by right now and Manning's future should be much more clear by draft time. If Manning is not able to return, then things change but I still wouldn't take Luck #1 overall....unless we drafted Luck, then wait to see who takes Landry Jones and once Jones is drafted, offer a trade with that team, Luck for Jones + multiple picks.

You are making a comparison of Quarterbacks who are not percieved to have nearly the skill set that Luck does, and they obviously dont. It sounds like you have your mind set on them drafting Jones. I wouldnt reject that out of hand, but why wouldnt they consider Luck? Of course they will, if they have the ability to draft a difference making QB, isnt this season without Manning the perfect example of why they should get another one if they believe that is what he is?

  6. This sentence is all I need to see in order to know you don't know what you're talking about.

Eldridge has been in every game (he has not missed a snap due to injury this year) and his blocking has been outstanding.

Eldridge has been on the injury report nearly his entire career and has missed quite a few games prior to this season. Only three games in BTW....and I do believe he is a better blocker than Clark, and should be in there as a blocker to allow Dallas to do what he does best.

Saying you know everything you need to know about someone from one sentence is exactly the kind of short sided garbage that makes people not want have football discussions on message boards. It doesnt make you cool, or witty, or even look like you know anything Mod Edit. Dont be so quick to rush to Judgement, as its really not becoming.

  7. I always thought clark was servicable as a blocker, now blocking harrison is tough for even linemen.

Yes it is. He is quite the load. They should use Clark to chip with an overload tackle or something. I dont get the one on one either, but I will not back off saying if you ask an NFL tight end to block a defensive end for one play....they have to be better than just watching the guy run by.

  8. I think we need to stop asking him to block elite pass rushers. We haven't asked him to do that in his eight previous seasons with us, so I don't know why we're pretending it's a necessity now. His value lies in catching passes, not pass blocking. Having him block in the running game is a horse of a different color, but you can't seriously expect him to suddenly be a stalwart blocker against James Harrison and Mario Williams.

What I expect him to do is his job, nothing more, nothing less. If he cant block those guys, as I have stated already numerous times, then they need to use Eldridge, or overload with another tackle, or do anything besides continuing to throw him out there. Now that being said, if he is asked to block an elite pass rusher for one or two plays, he needs to find a way to be more than just an open door...wouldnt you agree?

  9. He is a leading tackler right now. He is by far the best run stopper on the team. Brackett has his strong points, but with the type of defense that we need to play now Angerer is the better fit in the middle. Plus, Brackett, can play another position.

I dont know why we have to face it....its not a bad thing, but yes, Pat is our best LB I believe.

  10. I agree that you would like to see clark hold those blocks a bit better. But let's be realitstic about this. The best offensive tackles in the game try to block Harrison and M Williams on a regular basis and it is not unusual that they get help from another lineman or they will get blown up. It is just asanine to continually try to have a guy who is not equipped with the size or skill to do such an important task. He is only a tight end by name, he is a receiving tight end who does his job on the field. They are just trying to force him to do a job he is not equipped to do.

I hope the coaching staff ditches this idea soon

Absolutely, if he cant do it, then dont use him that way. More Eldrige and Tamme.

  11. this is what it seems like from my standpoint:

Either step it up because everyone has, or your going to be replaced by Tamme. Either way, everyone in the thread is talking about trading him so I thought you wanted to trade him.

No No no. I didnt mean to leave that impression. I love Dallas. My suggestion is simply if they want to run formations where blocking is the key for the TE, use Eldridge and Tamme in two TE sets. But if Dallas is asked to block, he has to be better at it. He wouldnt give any excuses for his bad blocking thus far, so I wont either.

  12. i asked was wheeler better than brackett not angerer cause if we play with

    angerer, bracett, conner

and brackett is better than wheeler then our best 3 linebackers our on the field

    right or wrong?

Yep, those are our best three LB's, but Angerer has performed much better at Mike than Gary has, so maybe they will leave pat in there and move Gary? I dont know.

  13. How about we not trade Dallas Clark. For god sakes, he's had one bad game, and we all go crazy and say he should be traded. YOu guys really turn your back on someone quickly. Let's not trade him, and keep him because besides Wayne he's the most reliable player on this offense.

I never said trade him, I just want him to step it up.

  14. I thought the coaches had a pretty good gameplan last night(and im not a huge fan of this staff at all). The one exception being, like Doogan said, the stupid stunts with Mathis are ridiculous. Overall, though I didn't have a lot of complaints with the staff last night.

I couldnt figure out the marathon stunts either. Mathis was doing just fine straight up....I couldnt believe it.

  15. Why should we win this game on paper?

Everything I have seen so far says we can win, but I havent read any paper saying we match up with them better than we did vs. the Browns. Tampa has some talent, and its in their backyard so if we keep improving maybe....but I wouldnt say we will be favored here.

  16. In my opinion, Dallas is a QB dependent player. His recent play without Manning shows him for what he is. He overpaid.

If its just because he his hurting, then I get it. But why not use more two tight end sets with Brody and Jacob tamme rather than ask him to block if he wont do it? Kind of odd.

  17. i wouldnt be opposed to trading clark for a few late round draft picks. colts need to get bigger and stronger players. imagine a jermichael finley type player at TE. that would be awesome.

Yes. I thought Brody Eldirge might be a great blocking TE with good hands, but he has been injured alot, and his blocking has not been stellar. Where the heck has Jacob tamme been too?

  18. The coaching staff constantly failed to make adjustments last night. Most importantly they kept Collins in and completely ignored that the defense was playing lights out and his ineffectiveness. They had Clark on Harrison for better half of two quarters (after seeing what clark couldnt do against super mario week 1). They played tjohnson on 2nd down and then put lacey back in on 3rd and long resulting in a steelers first down (numerous times). Not to mention that the play calling was terribly predictable. 1st down a TE screen. 2nd down a run from under center, 3rd and long a WR screen (really?!)The Colts defense showed they have some solid players (minus lacey) that are up and coming and can shut down the run of a power run team. The problem is the coaching staff and the colts will never reach their full potential as long as they are handcuffed by their coaches. Coaches need to put the players in the game that give them the best chance to win and that is not collins and lacey.

I wont reject any of this out of hand, in fact, I found myself thinking some of the same things. The one thing I do disagree with is Clark. He has to do his job, no matter who he is asked to block. He needs to cut, or hold inside, or do something other than quit and let guys run right past him. I agree with everything else you said though.
