There is zero chance. You don't fire the folks that took a horrible franchise and turned it into one of the top 3-4 franchises in all of football because of 1 horrible season. Polian has shown the ability to adapt and change over history and bring winning to every franchise he has been involved with.
You don't get it, do you. The Colts have been in a free fall for the last couple years. The signs are obvious if you know what to look for. Had it not been for Peyton's heroics last year, the colts would not have even made the playoffs. The year prior, they should have lost 4-6 games, except Peyton came to the rescue. This is not one bad season, this is the end result of failed coaching and management. What they did in the past is meaningless if they are trending towards the toilet, which they most certainly are. Open your eyes, for gads sake.

Any decision that keeps Caldwell and Coyer on the property is a fatal one.
-
They're all interviewing for the Head Coach position.

Exactly how am I in denial? I sad from teh start even with a healthy Peyton this wasn't a very good team, maybe 8-8 or 9-7 at best but everyone was going on how strong this team was and AFC champ material. Change is hard and especially when you have lost your QB, have very questionable talent in the back end of your D and a old worn out Defensive scheme. I see what we are and am willing to allow Polian to do what he has done and rebuild this franchise again.
I'll meet you half way. I'd be willing to give Polian a chance to rebuild, if and only if, he fires the current coaching staff...tomorrow if not today. No more promoting from within, I don't want to the see janitor being named the head coach. (the only exception being if Peyton became HC/OC/starting QB, but that goes without saying)

Upset...I guess and the defense has been poor for a long time, but they still won. This is one season, not the 5th in a line of a previous 4 losing seasons. Fans are way over reacting because most here refused to see this team was/is getting old and lacking talent in some key positions. However it appears that all the good the Polians/Irsay have done over the past decade means nothing, not even allowing for 1 bad season. You wait and see, if the Colts do get the No. 1 pick and take Luck, even more fans will go crazy screaming for the Polians to be fired even though taking Luck is the smart move long term.
I agree, denial.
This franchise has been on the decline for over three years. The previous sucess was due to one, ONE man. It wasn't Polian, it wasn't Caldwell, it wasn't even Dungy. Take a guess, and I'll give you a hint, he's a future hall of fame QB. The past is the past, and if you want to live in it, fine...don't expect other fans to go along.
The object of playing football is to win. Period. You build your team every year to win. We have been going down the toilet now for a while, it's just Peyton prevented a mass flush. Now that Peyton is sidelined, we see the true state of our team. It's not pretty.
When was the last time the Colts made an in game adjustment to counter what the opponet was doing? When was the last time the Colts went into the half with momentum to enter the third quarter anything other than flat? Since Caldwell took over, I cannot think of a single time, can you? The answer is a new coaching staff, new personel on the field, and preferrably changes in the front office as well. Sooner rather than later.

I just think you cant be knee-jerk...
We not only lost Manning..we lost him unexpectedly...
...We KNOW why we're where we are...and we have realistic expectations to be back in te playoffs
if Manning returns..in 2012
Make changes for the sake of change ...why?
I appreciate that you hold a long grudge against Caldwell and its personal..
....but we'll be back winning next season..
Knee Jerk? This season is the end product of failed coaching and management that has been cooking for three years. The only reason the Colts won as much last season was due to Peyton Manning's heroics. If we had lost Peyton last year, the result would have been the same as this year. Think about it. When was the last time the team made any adjustments to what their opponet was doing to them? When was the last time that the Colts went into halftime with momentum, to come out with momentum intact? To answer both of those questions, you have to look back further than the past three years.
This is not knee jerk. Caldwell and crew have been disaster from the very begining. Take the blinders off and look at the signs for yourself.
-
Some of us (me amongst others) have been calling for Caldwell and crew to vacate the building for three years now. We can now bask in the season that has been cooking since he took over, smells great, doesn't it?

Wow i think i left that game early.. when i left the chargers were leading like 21 to 7 i think.. not sure.
One of the main reasons i think the jets win some of their games against their rivals is because they dont wanna make their coach look like a fool... him dubbing them a superbowl team i doubt they actually believe any of that.
Evidently the Colts players don't care if Caldwell looks like a fool. After last night's game, the whole organization looks like one. Next!
-
Well, I hope that the OP has learned the answer to his question. If last night didn't shed some light on our friend, then I fear he is blind.
-
I really hope Irsay was embarrassed by the product on the field last night. He should be. He stands to lose a lot of money if the changes that need to be made are not done soon. Personally, I think (no suprise here) that the entire coaching staff needs to be removed posthaste, and certain players need to be cut. Perhaps not now, since we will undoubtedly get a decent draft pick with our current group, but certainly after the last game, the proverbial axe needs to come down.
-
Next week a loss would mathematically remove us from any real chance at a playoff run and hopefully some acceptance will be granted from this. I think last night really shook the foundations of the fanbase, rattling even the most optimistic of fans.
Sorry, the playoff possibility waved bye bye the second Caldwell took the HC position. This season has been in the works for the last three years. We are looking at the end product of failed management.
-
What's worse, the realization that the front office is too dumb to realize we have a problem and need an entire new coaching staff / management.
-
Look, the way I see it, after last night's performance, we have an excellent chance of being 0-16. The only way we won't, is if they change the schedule to an 17 or 18 game season, so then we'd be 0-17 or 0-18. Can we fire the coaching staff yet?
-
Painter is definitely not the reason the colts lost... this team is not a playoff team, the whole team looked bad.. everyone's head down looking like someone took their candy.. the colts need someone that will light a fire under them.
That someone should be Jon Gruden.
-
How about blame Caldwell for not having the boys in blue ready to play, yet again. Totally PATHETIC!
-
We wear bags over our heads.....NOW!
New Orleans is making a mockery of our defense, just scoring their second touchdown, making it look all too easy. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.
-
Right, how did he do his first season? Took us to a Superbowl
Manning took us to the superbowl...Caldwell had zero to do with it, other than providing a blinking clinic.
-
I'd think so...someone still has to catch the pass, right? He made some pretty spectacular grabs over the years, and was quick and precise enough to get in a position to make those grabs. Just because Peyton is probably the best overall QB in the history of the game shouldn't take away from Marvin's stats.
-
I'd love to have Harbaugh back, he'd be a drastic improvement over blinky.
-
Unless one of the teams decide to forfeit, I'd say 0-16 is a distinct possibility.

hold on here before caldwell took over the colts D was top ten in pass defense easily, but dead last in rush defense. now teams dont have to worry about a pass defense cause all coyer does is tell the linebackers go back into the safety spots along with the safeties and let the opposing qb have 20 yards of space to pass into where the linebackers were. so how is that the players and not the play calling? i think these coaches are horrible and manning covered up alot of the bad coaching. lets look at what has happend over the past several years. caldwell takes over for dungy they go 14-2 and makes a superbowl appearance with the bad timeout calls, and the bad play calling costing us a superbowl win. then the following year we go 10-6 and the defense regresses to the point that its bad. bad calls and the once great pass D that we used to have dissapeared during the game against the jets in the playoffs. this year the pass defense cant keep my grandma (RIP love ya lots) from having her way at passing, the deer in the headlights we call a coach and a defensive coordinator that cant call a play to save his life to help us win a game has cost us easily 5 games this season. even if we had manning i really really doubt we would win those games cause manning would have to score over 35 points a game just to be in a winnable game. how is this not coaching?
What he said....ditto
-
No coach of a winless team should keep his job. It takes a horrible coaching staff and front office to go winnless.
I'd take it one step further and say that anyone who can not see that this coaching staff has been inept since day one, has not been paying attention.
-
My fear is we are 1-14 going into our last game (with the one win being against Jax) and Caldwell pulls out all the stops and we end up beating Jax and lose the #1 pick. Caldwell would be so proud of himself!
That would fit this season perfectly....well said.
Can you imagine the look on Manning's face? If you thought his incredulous wth??? he gave last year when Caldwell spotted the Jets that time out, you haven't seen anything yet.
-
Realistically, we can beat any team in the NFL if our heads are in the game.
That may be true, but our coaches are incapable of getting our guys ready to play.

You ever hear of the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Beside that definition is the example of the Colts over the last several years.
