  1. The Colts are not the Patriots. It's called class.

Class is inducting your former players into the ring of honor, and making it well known that they will always be part of the Colts family.  Holding onto a player who is not able to play at a high level when there are more capable players out there is just dumb.

I love Reggie, but he is well past his prime.   The odds on him ever being a force in the NFL as he was in his prime is somewhere between slim and none.  Unless he finds the fountain of youth between now and next season, he should probably retire.

That said, if he can cut it in training camp and preseason and EARNS a slot on the team, that would be terrific.  But to simply give him a slot, even if he isn't up to it is not classy.  As I said, it would be dumb.

  2. Semantics.  If the Colts did not belong there, who did?

Look - I get the point.  They were overmatched in that game.  It showed how far they need to go to be on the level of the Pats.  Clearly they need to get more impact players on both sides but I also don't view the mountain as insurmountable either.

Nor do I.  I look for the Colts to be in contention next year, if they take the steps to improve.  Getting Carter was a good step, but now we need to start building an OL, and then defense.  The future is bright, once we get past the stench of our last game.

  3. Well, my thought has always been if you win in the Wildcard Round and then again in the Divisional Round, then that team deserves to be in the AFC Championship Game.  Who else would have deserved it?  One of the vanquished teams?

And just so you know, I do play close attention.

I never said we didn't deserve it, I said we didn't belong there...there is a difference.  We were not ready to be there, and the game play was solid irrefutable  proof of that.

  4. A great QB will cure a lot ills.  We have a lot of ills.

There are no great teams that will be blown out and outright embarrassed multiple times in the same season.  We have some* work to do before we advance from a good team to a great team.

(* meaning a tremendous improvement in defense, offensive line, and coaching are needed to move to the next step)

  5. We are a product of a weak division and lucked out with two depleted teams this playoffs. If we faced Balt or Pitt in the wildcard probably would have gotten scraped. Remember we beat SF DEN SEA last year before losing Reggie/Bradshaw as well as no Allen then we lost our way. This year we beat everyone who we were supposed to and got smoked by all the real teams. In my opinion we regressed.

I agree.  Show me an improved team that gets blown out multiple times by different teams in the same season.  Not just beat, but humiliated.  We had no business being in the AFC conference game and anyone who says otherwise obviously was not paying attention.

  6. And Patriots fans over here whining about how Revis ran into the refs which allowed Baldwin to get open....isn't that legal?

As long as it doesn't draw a flag, it is.  Just tell them that the ref was in the perfect position to call it, were it not legal.
