  1. The fact that a former teammate in Herremans hasn't lobbied for him says a lot IMO.  Must be a bad apple.

Who says that he hasn't ? If he is a so called bad apple, that can be worked out real quick.

I realize Mewhort may be moving to Right Tackle this year and would like to see the Colts go after Evan Mathis to be a proven fit at Left Guard to replace him. Has anyone heard anything about who is going after him? Opinions of Mathis? Thanks.

I sort of called it the other day. If Grigs doesn't sign Mathis for LG now he is crazy. What a great off season that would be for him !!

  3. The first 14 years of my life were spent around the Cincinnat area, so I grew up a Bengals fan. I moved to Indy the same year the Colts did and have been a fan ever since. I moved to Memphis after serving 8 years in the Marine Corps and I am still a huge fan of the Colts. My wife, who is a native Tennessean, is trying to get me to like the Titans, but it isn't going to happen.

Stand tough, but keep the family together. LOL

  5. I like the pick. Questions on this report, but I like him.

    PICK ANALYSIS:

"He's long with deceiving strength. I think he's an NFL starter all day long. He plays hard all day long and is a better athlete than you think. This is a really good pick here." -- Mike Mayock

    ANALYSIS Strengths

Comes off the ball with good pad level and forward lean. Can get arm extension and can keep himself clean as five-technique. Plays with passion. Third in conference with 12.5 tackles for loss. Moved all over defensive line and has played in both odd and even fronts. Gets hands in passing lanes when rush stalls. Capitalizes when he gets on blocker's edge. Scouts love his intelligence and team-first attitude. Will pursue hard to the sideline and rarely gives offensive linemen a snap off.

    Weaknesses

Slender legs, tight hips and boring feet. Feet will stall at contact when squared up against the run. Initial punch by an offensive lineman will jostle him. Lacks power to play inside. On the ground far too often. Must improve hand usage as pass rusher. Can be blocked by tight ends. Benefited from team-oriented defensive scheme. Doesn't gain much ground with initial steps as pass rusher. Relies on hustle sacks and lacks counter moves.

    Draft Projection

    Round 3

    Sources Tell Us

"He plays hard like Trent Murphy did at Stanford, but Murphy was a better athlete. He's not explosive enough to be a reliable pass rusher and I don't see him as a run stuffer." -- Pac 12 regional scout

    Bottom Line

Data driven teams will be intrigued by Anderson's stuffs, impact tackles and total pressures, but the tape doesn't validate his potential to produce these numbers on the pro level. The body type screams 3-4 defensive end if he can bulk up and add power, but he might lack the balance and toughness to make it there. Anderson might just be a "tweener" without a clear NFL position fit.

  6. Always love reading threads on this topic.  Decided to finally cave and start an account instead of lurking in the shadows for several more years, so here goes...  Little sister of an all-conference football player and bandwagon Bears fan in the 80's, I've been a casual fan of football and most sports for as long as I can recall.  It was when I had a child in '95, however, that I started paying more attention.  As the single mother of a son and being the only parent in his life, I started doing my due diligence on any sport in which he showed an interest, so, by the time he joined youth football, I pretty much knew who the "skill" players were on the Colts because they were the team from my home state, and I could see them on the television more often than other teams, and also because I found Peyton so fascinating to watch.  When my son became a lineman, I started paying attention to them as well.  Soon enough, I realized that my boy would rather play ball than watch it, but I was hooked, and he indulged my colorful displays of fandom in our living room.  Sadly, there has been nary a soul around me that seems as interested in free agency and such, the possible exception being a coworker who is a Browns fan.  He spends a lot of time being unhappy, as you can well imagine.  As a result of my Colts-love-vacuum, I started coming here...a lot.  My son graduated last year, joined the military, and left me to be alone with my lunatic rants on game day, but I don't mind.  Sometimes, it's for the best, and my kid knows it.  He was lucky enough to be home on leave during the Steelers/Colts game last season.  After much sighing and tossing of hands on my part, my son calmly turns to my visiting parents and says, "The Colts are losing.  She needs to watch this alone."  That's my boy!  And that's my story.

That was a great read. Don't be afraid to message myself or other friends here if you want or need to. Please tell your son Thanks for his service to our country. Have fun, this is a great community.

  7. All I had to do was see the Mayflower trucks on TV and in the Star. I was all in. Mayor Hudnut and the city took the risk building the Condome (Convention Center + Dome) LOL ( joke from the 80s) and did a great job of drawing a team to Indy. Been a fan since '84

  8. I'll give Grigs and Lowery the benefit of the doubt, but he has a lot to prove if the Jags and Falcons let him go.

The 29-year old Lowery comes to Indianapolis after seven NFL seasons (84 games played, 62 career starts).

Lowery played with the Atlanta Falcons last season, where he started 15 of 16 games.

As free agency began, Lowery told ESPN.com he didn’t expect the Falcons to re-sign him with new head coach Dan Quinn arriving after time as the Seahawks defensive coordinator.

"The Seattle system, they like taller, longer players that can run and are physical. ... I'm not the tallest guy (5-11 and 212 pounds),” Lowery told ESPN.com.

“I'm definitely not a blazer as far as 40 times go. But I play football. I know what I'm doing, and I understand what I'm doing. There are places for players like that, too."

  9. He gave up over 600 yards in coverage last season.

    For comparison

    Adams gave up 298

    Landry gave up 120

    Brown gave up 90.

    For a total of 508!

I believe you, but that seems not NFL worthy. I saw he started 15 games for the Falcons. I'm wondering why he played even with a bad Falcon pass rush.
