  1. Head over to the chat room tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST for some talk about training camp.

For this week, the Colts are just a few days away from the preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills.

What's on your mind heading into the Sunday's game?

Do you like what you're hearing from Anderson so far?

What were your thoughts on the night practice?

Feel free to join the chat via this link around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (scroll to the bottom of the page) and we will talk for an hour about whatever is on your mind.

  2. I'm listening to all the podcasts & watching the videos on the Colts.com app (because the website's media sucks). I'm hearing a lot of good things. Hearing a lot of rah rah stuff.

But I'm not hearing anything good regarding the Oline. Um not hearing much at all. Lamay rattles on about everything but the Oline. Nothing good or bad about them.

Considering this unit above all others had to get better, its a little disconcerting.

We are only two padded practices in.

I'd say yesterday was the O-line's best day as the Colts running backs were able to bust a few nice gains during 11-on-11 periods.

The depth up front isn't great right now without Thornton and Holmes.

But the starting five has certainly created holes for Ballard and Brown early on in camp.

  3. Looking for a place to have your Colts questions answered at the end of the week? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

On Thursday, I will host a one-hour chat called “Horseshoe Roundup” beginning at 8 p.m. For the next three weeks, the chat will be every Thursday night at 8 p.m.

The chat will cover a variety of topics with the focus being the pertinent news during that time period. I will take your questions and try to answer as many as I can during the hour.

For this week, the Colts have wrapped up nearly a week of practice with pads being donned for Tuesday and Wednesday.

What are your burning questions heading with training camp fully underway and a few padded practices in the books?

Do you like what you’re hearing from Anderson so far?

Feel free to join the chat via this link around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (scroll to the bottom of the page) and we will talk for an hour about whatever is on your mind.

  4. I'm taping a podcast with 'Voice of the Colts' Bob Lamey and was wondering what questions you guys would like for me to ask of Lamey?

It's obviously going to be training camp/2013 Colts related.

Can't promise anything on questions being asked but I thought I would gauge some interest from you guys and then see if any are interesting enough.

The podcast won't be very long and I've jotted down a few questions but I wanted to give you guys a chance to send some.

Just reply to this topic and I'll be checking it over the next 24 hours.

  5. Looking for a place to have your Colts questions answered at the end of the week? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

This Friday, I will host a one-hour chat called “Horseshoe Roundup” beginning at 11 a.m. Starting next week, the chat will be moved to once every week until the season ends.

During training camp, the chat is tentatively scheduled for 8 p.m. on Thursdays with the first coming on August 2nd.

The chat will cover a variety of topics with the focus being the pertinent news during that time period. I will take your questions and try to answer as many as I can during the hour.

For this week, the Colts are now less than 24 hours away from reporting to training camp.

What are your burning questions heading into training camp where the Colts roster will dwindle down from 90 to the difficult number of 53?

Feel free to join the chat via this link around 11:00 a.m. on Friday (scroll to the bottom of the page) and we will talk for an hour about whatever is on your mind.

  6. Kevin, off topic here. But did you get a look at the WR Donald Jones we were supposed to workout today? Are you gonna be doing a write up about it or do you not know what's happening with that situation?

Just wondering to see if he'll be coming into camp with us or not. Thanks in advance

I did not get a look at him.

Haven't heard anything on him either. I would think if there's no news today than Jones has moved on to his next visit considering the Colts would want him signed before camp.

  7.

    (Forgive the thread drift...)

Though I like both off-season acquisitions and realize that the name I'm going to drop wasn't an off-season pick-up,  this is the guy who I'm really looking forward to seeing this year....

    Vontae Davis

If he can be the player that Grigson/Pagano/Manusky think he can be,  that will go a long way toward solidifying our secondary.

If Vontae is a top-16 CB,  our defensive world will become much, much easier....

Again,  apologies for the thread drift....

    Not a problem at all.

I think anyone would be happy if Toler or Davis emerged as that shut down corner on one side.

We know Ryan Grigson expects "greatness" out of Davis this season and he showed flashes of that towards the end of last year.

  8. Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson used the term "game changer" to describe the addition of LaRon Landry.

How about the other offseason addition in the secondary--Greg Toler?

    http://www.colts.com/news/article-1/Burning-Questions-in-the-Defensive-Backfield-prior-to-Training-Camp/eae5228a-b6f4-4cfb-a261-c14d593cd356

I know it's asking a lot to put Toler into the same category as a Pro Bowler (Landry) but pairing Toler and Vontae Davis together could be vital to this unit's success.

Having Davis and Toler out on an island, being able to take away the opponent's top wideouts would free up this Colts defense and should lead to numerous turnovers.

What are your expectations for the secondary this season?

  9. He might be happy, but I would still like to see him line up there sometimes, especially in the no huddle.

If we can use our base personnel in different ways it really helps with mismatches. For example, a defense is lining up in the nickel, we go no-huddle and line Allen up at full back and run the ball... that would be very difficult for any defense to counteract.

Agreed on the mistmatch part of things.

Although I do think your base personnel will involve Stanley Havili as the fullback.

But you do bring up a good point with the no-huddle.

  10. I see Allen as a Jason Witten kind of TE. He won't be stretching the field, but as an underneath/flat safety valve, with really good hands, he will make his living off that as well as outstanding blocking. Fleener looks like Jimmy Graham. He has the height, speed, and athleticism to be a match-up nightmare for TEs and Safeties. I may be in the minority, but I thought Fleener's blocking was pretty solid too...not on the level of Allen's, but pretty good.

Nice comparisons there on two of the game's best tight ends.

Could see both Allen and Fleener having that potential in them.

  11. http://www.colts.com/news/article-1/Burning-Questions-at-the-Tight-End-position-prior-to-Training-Camp/b06e36ea-7221-44a7-b9a8-e90f03846fac

Does anyone find it odd that they hype Saunders up in this article and don't mention Justice Cunningham or D. Jones?

I won't be surprised if we kept 4 TE's, with Saunders and Cunningham backing up Allen and Fleener.  I at least expect there to be a brutal competition between Saunders and Cunningham if we narrow it to 3 TE's, which is why I am shocked that Cunningham isn't even mentioned in this article.

I think Cunningham is in the mix but more with Dominique Jones for the fourth spot.

Saunders is a proven NFL tight end where as Cunningham was one spot away from being an undrafted free agent.

I like Justice's frame but he struggled catching the ball a bit during the offseason.

If I had to guess, I would think Allen/Fleener/Saunders are on the 53-man roster with either Jones or Cunningham on the practice squad, maybe active roster if you have room.

  12. Allen wasn't misused. Everything he did for us last year, he did at Clemson. That's why he excelled the way he did. He's to blocking, lining up at WR, being in the backfield, etc.

    This is spot on.

BA did a wonderful job last year simply using what Allen does best.

I think this year you will see a similar role for him, although all the tight ends will be used extensively in the passing game.

Allen has to be happy he won't be needed as the team's fullback. A lot of strain on Allen's body and I think he welcome the new role for the Colts tight ends this season.

  13. Moving forward, I see no reason why this tight ends group can't be among the league's top groups.

Obviously, you have Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener but people shouldn't count out Weslye Saunders.

Also you have Dominique Jones, a guy that will be the answer to Andrew Luck's trivia question of who caught No. 12's first NFL pass.

Throw in seventh round pick Justice Cunningham and you have five players all under the age of 25 heading into training camp.

I wrote today about the tight end group with some individual questions.

    http://www.colts.com/news/article-1/Burning-Questions-at-the-Tight-End-position-prior-to-Training-Camp/b06e36ea-7221-44a7-b9a8-e90f03846fac

    Now, I'll ask you.

Do the Colts tight ends group have the potential to be among the league's best beginning in 2013 and beyond?

  14. Could they potentially be our big rival like the pats were for so long?

That could be interesting and I honestly could see it happening.

And quizboy.... I have had respect for your team for years and years, unlike our other division opponents. If this does in fact happen. I will hate your team forever! Lol

    Agree with the posts above.

For the immediate future they certainly seem like our rival. Considering they've never won in Indianapolis and I think the Texans would agree with us being their rival as well.

Have to think Houston and Indianapolis are the class of the AFC South and I expect that to be the case for the next few years (with Tennessee firmly behind).

  15. Aside from the Colts, I can't think of a better feeling than attending an away game and walking out of the stadium with a victory.

Obviously, there is a risk involved in that the heckling you receive after a loss is pretty intense.

However, getting a victory in a road venue and basking in the glory walking out of that visiting stadium is a great feeling.

  16. For this week, the Colts are now just two weeks away from reporting to Anderson for the start of the 2013 training camp.

What are your burning questions heading into training camp where the Colts roster will dwindle down from 90 to the difficult number of 53?

This will be the second-to-last chat before training camp begins. We will have another one on July 26th and then after that the chat will move to once a week through the season.

Feel free to join the chat via this link around 11:00 a.m. on Friday (scroll to the bottom of the page) and we will talk for an hour about whatever is on your mind.

  17. It's Greg Toler's job to lose. If he stays healthy, he's our #2. If not, Butler could be a nice #2 but I really love Darius Butler in the nickel. So barring injury it'll be

    Vonate Davis

    Greg Toler

    Darius Butler

This looks very accurate to me.

I'd say Vaughn and Gordy are next to knock on the door with the undrafted guys, along with Teddy Williams and Marshay Green to follow.

  18. What are you doing to occupy your time between the end of OTA's - and - training camp ??

Going to be a long two and a half weeks but then the grind starts again come July 27th.

On the website, we will have some position analysis type stuff looking at each group beginning Monday, July 15th.

  19. Can someone tell me how it can be sold out when tickets supposedly aren't even on sale yet????

    i am really honked off.

Group ticket packages including the Denver game is the reason.
