And I respect yours.... not sure if you saw this clip, but it does show some pretty good burst IMO.  One comment made that made sense too is the lack of rotational players on his team thus making him wear out during games.

Anyway take what you want from the film session, I am just putting it out there for you in case you missed it.  Shows him against Tenn and Troy.

Wasn't he talking about Grover Stewart?

His size made him the endzone go to guy at NC.  I think I read they talked about making him a TE, but I'm not sure about his blocking.  They can't all be Swoopes.

If I'm not mistaken, he led NC in TD receptions.  Watch some tape, he has a great wingspan and pretty good hands.  Speed is okay, not a blazer.  Dark horse to make the team, but maybe a PS guy?

I did watch tape. Good thing: He seems to find the spots in the zone defense to hang around in and farm catches. Bad thing: Man to Man he kind of is poor at beating his guy straight up. The Pats would love him lol

Hopefully Chud can make him NFL ready, assuming he makes the roster

Bug has a unique skill set.  I'm surprised he went undrafted.  Sickels from PSU may also surprise people.

Can't say I know much about most of the others.  I know Trey didn't exactly have an illustrious college career but he's supposed to be a great athlete.

What is this unique skill set?

I'd try to make him a TE receiver. Try to line him up on linebackers to give him more separation...idk

I don't mean to be the party pooper, but we said this about him last year too

Then he went out and had 33 receptions and 2 TDs in 15 games.

Lol "HUGE" as if that did diddlysquat for him

He looks exactly the same as last year too

When Mathis was drafted not many people if any thought he's be the next anything. He was what a 6th? Yeah. Basham was projected by some as a late 1st, and his expected slot according to most was somewhere in the 2nd.

I think he meant just the ridiculous hall of fame production more so than bashing where he was picked...

I watched some of Basham last night. I like him. I'm more impressed by his film than Rivers, Bowser and Willis. A phrase Ballard used several times over the weekend was "good initial quickness," which is obvious on Basham's tape. He comes off the ball with fury; Ballard described this as his "unique trait." He takes on blockers violently, has strong, active hands, and a good rip move to disengage. He has pretty good speed for his size in the open field, and decent closing speed. He is not bendy and flexible, doesn't turn the corner sharply and flatten to the ball/QB. He's pretty good at working across the face of the blocker, but a good blocker with good hands and footwork can lock him down. He needs to develop a better go-to pass rush move, and a secondary move. He has a messy spin that I don't think he'll be able to use effectively in the NFL. Needs to do a better job of converting speed to power. He has burst, motor, tenacity -- I'd call him a glass eater for sure. He can be beat by a ball carrier in the open field, even a shifty QB. Decent spatial awareness to drop back in short area coverage. He can set a disciplined edge, but might lose focus here and there.

I think he's a strong 3rd round pick. Everyone kind of fell in love with Rivers, Willis and Bowser, but Basham is right up there with them. He can contribute right away, and develop into a starting OLB with Rush backer potential, but is probably best suited as a secondary pass rusher. He can definitely play Sam.

It's amazing. Every time an interviewer tries to pry strategy out of Ballard or attempts to figure out the direction he's going, Ballard has just one answer for them; UNIQUE TRAITS baby!

  6. Back when I was a youngin and lived in Rosario, Argentina I used to play soccer with local neighborhood kids such as Franco Cervi and Giovani Lo Celso. They'd go on to play for my favorite club Rosario Central. I doubt anyone on here knows who they are but yeah...

But they now play for Benefica and PSG, both very big clubs in the World Football, comparatively.

  7. Nah. Bob was a missile who brought down guys with force and knew his angles. Hooker isn't that type of tackler nor does he take the best angles. yet. He'll never be that hard hitter but he will become a more than solid tackler imo. His tape shows he can tackle fine when he gets to the ball.

I'd be cool if he could learn to strip the ball like a Tillman, or even Adams

Go to Colts.com the story of the grades are in there is a picture of the group, IMO I can see & feel the disdain between Raye and Ballard, & a little bit, with Pagano to a lesser extent. Pagano and his staff our going to be under eminence pressure to coach these guys up and get the best out of them, see progress. I think if the players grow he is safe, regardless of the wins and loss's but if the players don't grow he will be done in a heartbeat!

If you're talking about this then I don't really see it. They seem fine to me. But it's your opinion and obviously we all read things differently

  9. I read on some site that Hooker had a 136th ranked Tackling efficiency among safeties? That's a little worrisome to see. But then you realize that he was a potential top 5 pick so his coverage must be hat freaking good lol...

    We got ourselves a steal

  10. Bottom Line for me is this: You're in a division where you have Tom ******* Savage starting for the "best" team and imo your only real competition for the division... You have no excuse not to win this crapshow. Hell, Savage is going play so badly that I'm almost 100% sure Watson will start a good portion of the season.

There was a picture of the Colts war room where everyone one was smiling EXCEPT RAYE! Struck me funny when I saw it, and did a double take on it. Can't say I am surprised, but I do think Raye  was a good guy. I have a feeling Ballard has thought on how things get done, and has thought about it for some time and Raye wasn't on board. Raye on top of that may have been disappointed as to not getting the job and resented Ballard if he didn't take his input into consideration? Who knows? Good luck to Raye in the future!

Any link to that picture or can you post it if you have it? Sounds funny

If all the members in this forum got "salty" because their guy or guys was not drafted where their opinion wanted them to, this forum would explode.

Crying over spilled milk at this point is useless. Grigson is gone so you should be happy with that but now you want to carry on with stuff than means absolutely nothing.

IMO Green will become a very good player and I suspect his drafting will not become a bad thing.

Worrying about some other player taken by another team is wasting your effort and time.

I don't give a damn that we draft "my guys". I'm not one of those people that makes a topic showing off my mock draft and then gets butthurt when our GM doesn't select "my guys". I just want us to draft the better players.  I thought Davis was better and he has shown that currently he is.  I'm not patting myself on the back here, nor am I crying over spilt milk.  I answered OPs question...

I only brought him up because you "questioned my ability to judge players in the NFL". Obviously it was fine in this case because Davis is the better player so far and validates what I thought.

So you are ready to write him off without giving him a chance to show what he can do with coaching and experience?  Sorry, I have to question you ability to judge players in the NFL.

Dude I'm just salty that he was taken so highly when we had much more pressing concerns and there were still good players on the board.

A few guys I wanted(such as Sean Davis) have already started producing for their teams, and in big ways, so I think my ability to judge players is fine.

    Would that be any different?

As a lefty punter and kicker for 4 years varsity(lol), it does make a difference.

Not to mention that every long snapper has small differences in their technique. It could simply be that our new punter prefers how the new guy snaps to what he's seen from Overton

Anything less than 10 sacks and the 'Fire Ballard' shirts are being printed.

Do you not already have yours in the closet? I've been wearing mine since before we fired Grigson!
