  1. Yet another player who's career has been significantly impacted by injuries in Indy. Feels bad man.

It also puts us back to square 0 at O Line building. Costanzo has been exposed, Mewhort is ded, Good is ded, Haeg/Clark pretty much busted after a good last half of last season and who knows how Kelly will look during this latter half of the season

The Colts made Brian Hoyer (who is average at best) look like the second coming of Peyton Manning. I wouldn't be so quick to downplay Bortles against us.

Hell, just last year we made Brock Osweiler look good two times.

People never learn. Our pass defense is even worse than last year and already some people are talking about Bortles like he's not gonna go for 300 yards and 3tds easy

It's been brought up about Green coming in for Bostic on passing downs. If he does, he's got to tackle better. I'm hoping to see Geathers back this year to add to the mix.

I'm pretty sure Green has gotten like 1 defensive snap in the last two games combined lol

As much I want to see them move on from Pagano, I don't think it's completely out of the question that they keep him. Somebody (likely Irsay) apparently wasn't ready to move on from his this past spring. If the plan was to have a lame duck HC and let Ballard bring in his guy the following season, then the Colts wouldn't have made significant acquisitions like Sheard and Hankins that fit the lame duck HC's system. They also wouldn't have entrusted the lame duck HC to have the first crack at developing the GM's first draft class.

Looking at the season, the offense will likely get a mulligan because of having a new inexperienced QB and/or a rusty Luck. If anything, Brissett developing and being a capable QB is a huge plus in that area...even if the Colts aren't winning games.

But what's the one area where we have seen the most improvement so far? The defense...which is Pagano's area. If there are noticeable improvements on defense by the end of the season (and it seems headed that way)...and Ballard's FAs and draft picks look good and continue to have success/develop, then it will show a good symbiotic relationship between HC and GM...which is what Irsay wants. And I am sure it's what Ballard wants as well.

Pagano is still awful at in-game management and adjustments, but this hasn't gotten him fired yet...so there's no guarantee it would now. There's really no telling what Irsay/Ballard will do.

I might be speculting here but it seems to me that Ballard is smart enough to realize he's going to have to hire a guy who basically runs the same defensive scheme we do now. Or at least very similar. It'd take him even longer to not only have to rebuild our roster but then get rid of the "decent" players we have that already fit our D schemes mostly

Bostic does seem to get lost in coverage.   Don't know what's up with that. He has the speed, but the agility and awareness in coverage seem to be lacking. This is where we miss guys like Akeem Ayers who I wish we would bring back for these situations.   Thought they were going to use Barkevious Mingo in coverage a little bit as well.

What do you mean you don't know? Just because he's fast doesn't mean he can cover lol. It's a HUGE skill to possess and might be the most important trait in a defensive player now a days, honestly(good coverage ability).

    Not everyone has it

First off most guys that have athleticism still have some skill-set since they have probably played the sport for a while.  So your question is loaded and has no point but your own opinion.  I can say though, that players have went into the combine and shown the freak athletic traits and made it into the NFL just fine.  Mulitple pass rushers, D-line, WR's, and heck even O-line.  You hear it every year when a guy comes in and dominates the combine.  Do they all turn into an all star no but that is not what we are talking about here.

Also, we are not talking about only NFL since your point was made towards ANY pro sport.  NBA has this each and every year.  Can some of these guys even shoot...NO.  But they can jump and dunk.

Of course it was a loaded question. My original point is only that guys who are all athleticism and no skill get nowhere in a pro sports league.

Youre right in that you see those 7'+ dudes with freak wingspans and verts every year make it into or get invited to the NBA. And most of them completely washout because they have no skill besides being freakishly tall or being good leapers. Hasheem Thabeet, Desagna Diop, Jerome James, Yinka Dare (so so bad), and good ol Kwame Brown come to mind immediately.

That is definitely what I am referring to as well.  You are crazy to think that athleticism does not translate to any pro sport.

Not really. Those guys that are all athleticism get cut off rosters very quickly once it's shown they have no actual skill. Find me any guy in the NFL who makes any impact that has only athleticism to bank on. As in alls they can do is run fast, jump high and have good "shiftiness".

Could it be that Green isn't all that good at any position?

That's exactly what it is but people are in love with those athletic measurables. Athleticism doesn't get you very far in any pro sport, not even special teams In American Football.

im still holding out hope for the guy though. It seems weird that he got heavy snaps throughout preseason/game 1 but  then basically gets wiped off our roster entirely in game 2
