Actually he had no part in that. Here's a quote from Hue himself.
"When I think back on it, I think I'm being blamed, and have been blamed, for (all of that)," Jackson told Yahoo! "What gets me is, I know (Bengals owner) Mike Brown and I know Carson Palmer, but I didn't make the trade. That decision came from above. It involved draft picks and money. But it wasn't my call.
Allright. Doesn't really change things. My main point was that Hue Jackson wanted a lot of power. The influence he had after Davis' passing got to his head.
Looks like I wasn't way off with that...
-
Probably saw himself as co-GM after Davis' passing, and giving up a 1st and 2nd for Carson Palmer. McKenzie was having none of that.

34 with that personel would kill the colts on the ground. More than now.
In 34 the ILBs has to take on OL players and Angerer and Brackett are way too undersized in this scheme. At least playing together.
Colts need to retain the talent they have on defense and that means resigning Mathis - and stay in 43 with Freeney and Mathis at end and Angerer in the middle

Get whatever we can for the 2nd overall pick!

Boy, was I let down this week. Luckily the championship is due over two weeks.
McCoy, Wells, Laurent Robinson and Bailey all busted big time! Had a tough time picking my flex RB/WR starter. Went with Robinson. 0 points. But none of options got over 5 (barring James Jones, who plays later). Stafford, Megatron and Celek keeps me in it.
Current score is a 63-53 lead to me. I still need Julio Jones and Packers D/ST. My opponent still has Brees, Kahlil Bell and John Kasay to go. Just hope I can keep it close and win it next week.
-
start one for next week
julio jones vs bucs
marshall vs jets
holmes vs fins
helu vs eagles
im leaning towards jones
Falcons could be bound for seed #6 if Packers and Saints win (and Falcons thereby lose). They could pull Ryan and others from their week 17 game. Possibly.
I would go with Brandon Marshall. No question. He's in form and Moore is going his way.

We have the worst CB tandem in the league.
All we do is draft CB's 3rd round and lower, and free agent CB's are too expensive.
Yet you guys want to...draft a CB 3rd round and lower.
If Manning struggles with this defense, Luck will be lucky to ever scratch .500.
There are too many 10-year starters at CB in the 1st round this year. Most of them are big, physical, faster than our guys, and can return kicks. Far too valuable compared to a back up QB.
I want to trade down. Badly! But you have to realize that if the Colts are drafting 1st overall, Luck is the pick. Get used to it.
I know you want Claiborne, but the Colts could move on from Reggie Wayne this off season. In that scenario Blackmon makes heckuva more sense.
Besides, this draft is (possibly) booming with CB talent! If we trade down, I would be very excited to get Claiborne. Then there's Dennard and Fitzpatrick to get in the 1st round, but we would have to trade down between pick 10 and 20 to get value from picking either of those guys. And that is not happening.
Jerraud Powers isn't exactly a bad player, and we got him later. Remember we are picking in the top 3 every round. That's basically a 2nd round pick for the Colts in comparison to the last 10 years.

With the 1st pick:
1: QB Andrew Luck
2: DT Brandon Thompson / WR Dwight Jones (if Reggie walks) / S Mark Barron
3: Best CB - Desmond Trufant, Casey Hayward, Xavier Rhodes, Micah Hyde
4: Best OG/DT - OG Ryan Miller, Lonnie Edwards - DT Mike Martin
5: Best Safety or CB Omar Bolden/DeQuan Menzie
6-7: Best WR and LB for depth
If we end with the 2nd or 3rd, I'd do everything to trade it, but if not:
With the 2nd/3rd pick:
1: WR Justin Blackmon (if Reggie walks this off season)
2: DT Brandon Thompson / S Mark Barron
rest as above

Really with Barkley going back, and say Griffin goes back, Colts should no doubt entertain ALL offers for Luck! If Manning is healthy!
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree. I'm all for trading that pick if the Colts have it. I've just come to the conclusion, based on Irsays comments, that the Colts are taking Luck if they can.

I really like Anderson. (Actually think he would be pretty darn good in a 3-4 D)
He's better than both Foster and Brayton, and a stud on special teams due to his length and athleticism. He's great to have as a situational DE and DT depending on whether we are looking at a pass or a run from the opponent offense.
I would definitely keep Anderson. Unless some team has seen something spectacular this year, he won't be overly expensive to retain.
-
They are not the answer at DT
Rotation. Look it up.

No one will have any sort of interest in acquiring Bradford's contract. Better chance they trade the possible 1st overall pick.
-
If we dont have Andrew Luck in the draft, we should get that Blackmon guy as WR. I know we have defensive needs but we really cant survive with Garcon and Collie long term.
No, definitely not. We need a replacement of Reggie's time in Indy is up.
Blackmon is very plausible if we end up with the 3rd overall pick in the draft (would take a win at Jaguars and Vikings and Rams to lose all their remaining games). If it's 2nd overall, I say we entertain trade offers. Some teams will have a big interest in Matt Kalil and/or Robert Griffin.

Free agents? What are those?
Something I heard about once. Just thought it could be interesting to try.
(But talk is cheap - litteraly in this case)

I love Reggie to bits, but it's time to move on. Wayne is gonna be looking for some big retirement money. Let him test the market, offer him what the Colts think is reasonable, if it's not enough... too bad. The Colts can sure use upgrades at multiple positions, and Reggie would free up som cap space.
If it should be between him and Mathis, the choice is easy. Mathis every time.
Free agency has some interesting names. Vincent Jackson and Dwayne Bowe are the premier guys, could both get franchise tagged, and would probably cost more than Wayne. Another interesting option for me would be Robert Meachem.
-
I simply do not trust Blount. He's out on the sideline on every down that could be a pass and is therefore only good when the game is close or the Bucs is in front. And due to the fact that Bucs suck, thats not likely to happen ;)
I think I will go with Robinson in the flex spot. Then again, Boldin is out so Smith could get more looks but could be shadowed by Haden.

Hi guys.
I'm playing for the title in my fantasy league the final two rounds of the regular season.
So who to start? I'm especially in dire straits over my flex RB/WR play this week.
Here's the team:
QB Matthew Stafford (Philip Rivers)
RB LeSean McCoy
RB Beanie Wells
RB/WR Torrey Smith/LeGarrette Blount/Laurent Robinson/Jackie Battle/James Jones
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Julio Jones
TE Brent Celek (Heath Miller)
D/ST Packers
K Dan Bailey
Any suggestions or good advice?

If this in any way holds up, the Colts need to jump all over Alfonso Dennard with the 33rd pick!!!
Dennard won't fall out of the 1st round though.
-
I like this draft.
Hosley probably won't be there at the top of the 3rd, but there are many good CB prospects in this draft (if some of the underclassmen declare). Desmond Truant, Xavier Rhodes, Micah Hyde or Casey Hayward would all be a good pick.
-
Very little! I would say absolutely no higher than a 4th rd. pick for either. They are situational pass rushers, not every down type players.
That's ridiculous!
The Colts are still on pace for the 1st overall pick. First, I don't think we'll beat the Texans. Maybe Jaguars, so the Colts will be 2-14. I think the Vikings will beat the Bears, so they are on three wins. Rams finish 2-14, but they have by far a schedule that will cause them to pick behind the Colts if both got 2 wins. This schedule can change all the time due to results, but the Rams will not go below the Colts.

You think Miami would trade important picks for a 36 year old QB? Maybe if they had every position but and where already a playoff caliber team, but their not so they wont. They would much rather grab a RG3, Barkley or Jones and keep their picks.
"(This is a place Peyton would like to be traded to since he would have a top flight LT and Defense to work with.)"
Why cant we do that here again? It makes no sense how you can think that, the goal for the Colts should be to build a top defense and offense, as is every teams goal. Drafting a great QB but neglecting the rest of the team doesn't work and that would be the only way to get Luck. Why not trade the pick to a team we know will actually trade future picks for and build around our already capable QB. The only way we get rid of Peyton is to release him and no matter how I look at it, I just cant see how that helps the team in anyway.
P.S. I think Peyton would rather stay in indy.
The Dolphins is longing for a quality QB. Also, they play in front of a half empty stadium. Peyton, more than any other player ever, gives them a chance to win now, and people would run to Sun Life Staidum to watch the great Peyton Manning. They win and it improves business.
The Dolphins actually has a real decent team. Good offensive line (besides RT), Brandon Marshall as a target and a really solid defense.
Not that I'm for trading Peyton, but Miami makes a ton of sense to me.

Looks pretty good until Texans and the Burfict pick. Texans just don't need a ILB. Bengals I think is a better more realistic option.
Patriots spend a 2nd and a 3rd round pick on running backs this year. Not going with Miller this year.
-
Del Rio has gotten way to much credit for his DC job in Carolina. Had a pretty darn good defense there. Wouldn't want him at all!
Watch Spagnoulo's situation i St. Louis - if he's fired, let him get back into a DC job in Indy.
-
I'm all for trading that 1st overall for nonsense load of picks (+possible players).
Does anyone know Cam Newtons cap hit? I know his contract value, but 75% of it is a signing bonus as the deal is fully guaranteed due to the new rookie wage scale. Could Luck possibly sit behind Manning without hurting the team salary cap wise?
