  1. Love the trade!

Would have hated a player around the 30 years of age coming in for a high draft pick. But it's not the case.

Young, proven cornerback for a 2nd. Colts had to go high in next years draft for a cornerback. Scratch that now. I highly doubt any of the corners available in the 2nd round will turn out better than Vontae Davis, and Davis is signed VERY cheaply for the next two years!

Focus can now shift to the offensive and defensive line.

  2. Living in a foreign country, and not having ESPN, I haven't really seen much of Skip Bayless. I've heard loads of laughs and criticism of Bayless through i.e. Twitter though... These videos posted here confirms the criticism. What an incompetent "analyst". OMG, I thought I had experienced some dumb people thinking they have smart things to say, but he takes the prize. He has nothing, absolutely nothing to back up his views. Just from these videos he obviously has no clue about basketball schemes and he projects football players on his gut feeling. Just plain incompetent.

  3. Vontae Davis would be awesome (or Sean Smith if we were to keep talking about Miami). Don't want Cary Williams!

Can't ignore the offensive line either. The Colts staff want to give Luck the best pieces around him, and that right side of the offensive line is a little... eh, average at best. Dont know who they could be pursuing though.

Back to the cornerbacks... Colts has brought in Cassius Vaughn, Josh Gordy and DJ Johnson via trades. However, only Josh Gordy has (potentially) cost a draft pick. Chris Gronkowski wouldn't have made the 53 man roster anyway (Vaughn trade), and DJ Johnson was an add on in the Eagles-Colts trade involving Kevin Thomas for Moise Fokou and Greg Lloyd. Another newcomer with NFL experience is Justin King. With all the additions, I actually thought they would get by in 2012 with the CBs that the they have, and then get some quality help via free agency (or via the draft) next year, and thereby not give up high draft picks.

I would be all for it if a 3rd round draft pick could bring in some real quality though! I would be more hesitant to give up a 2nd rounder. All depend on the player though.

  4. Like:

McGinest - a bit Patriots-biased, but other than that...

    Daryl Johnston

    Brian Billick

    Mike Mayock

    Al Michaels

    Absolutely hate:

Deion Sanders - Annoying, talks crap about others then reverses his opinion when he faces them (i.e. Peyton i 2010)... what a coward!

    Warren Sapp

    Mel Kiper

Charles Davis - Very visible before and during the draft, but he just jumps on the bandwagon and has no personal opinion or great knowledge (or so it seems)

  5. About time they come "see" whats changed and being done instead of taking last years team and making future predictions off of! Total different animal..the Monster!

    I completely agree!

The media is still talking like Painter and Linkenbach are still starters at QB and RT respectively. Defense has gotten bigger and more experienced with the likes of Redding, Zbikowski, McKinney and Chapman. The coaching has improved immensely!

And the lack of weapons? Added the two best TEs in the draft and a couple of burners at WR - only lost Garcon with the insecure hands but playmaking ability, and a fast decling Clark who no team was in a rush to sign.

The team's not winning a Super Bowl, but don't debate whether the Colts can compete!

  6. Crowell if he figures it out.

    Definitely Isaiah Crowell.

So physically talented, but obviously can't get his s*** together. Still only a sophomore he goes to a FBS school instead of the JUCO way. Go JUCO, show that the past is in the past, perform and get another chance at a big programme as a JUCO-transfer. Doing that would have shown a lot of (or better anyway) character, IMO.

  7. Here's a good read...

Pro Football Focus (what a great source that is!) is doing a series called 'Secret Superstars' and they have now been around the Colts roster:

    http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/05/30/secret-superstar-samson-satele-c-indianapolis-colts/

Here's the reverse play that the article mentions. Satele lays out Jim Leonhard:

Personally, I was high on Satele as a free agent in 2011. He was a free agent (can't recall if UFA or RFA) that the Raiders resigned. He has improved every year since entering the league, and has at times been dominant. The Raiders has been running a man/power blocking system in Hue Jackson's offense, but the slightly undersized Satele has had no problems with that.

Here's to hoping that the Colts got themselves a quality player on the offensive line for years to come!
