Brady
P. Manning
Roethlisberger
Eli
Flacco
Rodgers
Ryan
Like I said, I believe Eli Manning is the most overrated QB I've ever seen.

Best LB of his era? You know that Lawrence Taylor and Mike Singletary played during that era right?
Taylor had a far better supporting cast around him. Same with Singletary. Tippett was one of the greats at his position.....period.

I don't understand how you can put Flacco ahead of Eli Manning. Matt Ryan and Roethlisberger, yes. And the young guys have promise and very well might wind up being better, but Eli has the resume. Right now, Eli is #7 on my list.

The order they are listed is not the order I would rate each one. The point is I rate all of them higher than Eli Manning. Sheesh, some of you get your undies in a twist too easily.

Don't get me wrong, I had a #56 jersey at one point. ;) But, you know, Tippett's era of the NFL included this guy name Lawrence Taylor, who was probably a better LB.
He's actually working for the team still, in some kind of community relations capacity. Very smart guy, from what I hear. And something like an 8th degree black belt, lol...
I will still say Tippett is the best non QB player ever from the Patriots history. Lawrence taylor has no impact on my thoughts on Tippett.
Tippett is a member of the NFL’s 1980s all-decade team and was selected to five Pro Bowls in his career, earning the nod in five straight seasons from 1984–88.
From 1984–85, Tippett recorded the highest two-season sack total by a linebacker in NFL history, totaling 35.0 sacks during the two seasons. His 18.5 sacks in 1984 are the third most by any linebacker in a single season, while his 16.5 sacks in 1985 are tied for the sixth most by any linebacker in NFL history.
Tippett holds the Patriots’ franchise record with 100.0 career sacks. He also owns the top three single-season sack performances in Patriots history (18.5 in 1984, 16.5 in 1985 and 12.5 in 1987). He ranked seventh on the all-time sacks list, and third among linebackers, at the time of his retirement following the 1993 season. Over his career, Tippett recorded 100 sacks in 151 games, an average of 0.662 sacks per game. The mark currently ranks fourth in NFL history among linebackers.
After not recording a sack as a rookie in 1982, Tippett finished either first or second on the team in sacks in each of his final 10 seasons. He led the team in sacks six times and finished second on the team four times. Tippett recorded 30 multiple-sack games in his career and sacked a total of 41 different quarterbacks. Tippett recovered 18 opponents’ fumbles during his career, tying him for first on the Patriots’ all-time list (Steve Nelson). He also forced 17 fumbles in his career.
Tippett was named the AFC’s Linebacker of the Year by the NFL Players Association for three straight seasons from 1985–87. He was voted to the Associated Press All-NFL First-team on two occasions (1985 and 1987) and Second-team on two other occasions (1986 and 1988). He was also named to the NFL Films All-Pro team in 1984.
He was voted the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA) co-Defensive Player of the Year (with Raider Howie Long) in 1985. Additionally, he was voted the 1985 UPI AFL-AFC Defensive Player of the Year.
Tippett spent his entire 12-year career with the Patriots and was a member of three playoff teams, including the 1985 AFC Champions.

Wallace throws some common vernacular from "across the pond" at us once in a while to keep us all on our collective toes. He's good people though, don't worry about him. ;) Far as nettles are concerned, think thorny, flowering plants.
Would you really rate Andre Tippett higher than, say, Tom Brady though? I was a fan through Tippett's prime, loved the guy. But I'd say he's maybe the fourth best Patriot of all time, behind Brady, Hannah, and Bruce Armstrong.
I put Tippett as their best "non QB" player of all time. Tippett is a hall of famer and possibly the best linebacker of his era. And yes, I think he's the best player ever from the Pats.
And besides, I have a hard time putting an active player on that kind of list. Yes, I have Adrian Peterson on the list for the Vikings, but that's only because I had to eliminate a QB.

The bottom line is, Revis heard something Sherman said, but didn't really listen to it in total and started a trash talking war with the current king of trash talk over something which wasn't said.. Revis looks like a fool on this one.

I said I'd put all of them ahead of Eli Manning. Don't get wrapped around the axle about how I listed them in the post you quoted.

Not at all. I just recognize that Rice built his legacy over 21 seasons. It is doubtful Johnson will play as long as that especially at the level Rice played for the vast majority of it.
Personally, I don't think Rice is the best WR of all time, but I know most NFL fans do. He just played with the best overall talent around him for most of his tenure. He benefited from being a member of a great team for a long time.

I think it is time to say what has been true now for a couple of years - Rodge . As Rodgers has said himself, your legacy is made in the post-season and so far his legacy says he is a one hit wonder.
Is Peyton manning also a "one hit wonder"?

How do you mean? Kolb took over when Skelton got hurt in the opener, he did a pretty solid job, then he got hurt and they went back to Skelton, who wasn't great, but he wasn't awful either. Skelton got hurt again, and they were down to Ryan Lindley. What could anyone expect out of Ryan Lindley? They eventually were down to Brian Hoyer, who hadn't been with the team for a month and hadn't practiced with the starters when he got in the game.
I think if Kolb had stayed healthy, things might have been better, but they didn't exactly have an embarrassment of riches at quarterback.
Actually, I believe they just exchanged QB's willy-nilly much of the time. It was a poor job of coaching no matter how you try to spin it.

He will be the GOAT hands down, it's not even close.
It is unlikely that he will have the longevity to become the greatest of all time. Generally, Jerry Rice is considered the greatest so far and he played for over 20 years and he was very productive for most of that time. I don't see Johnson playing long enough to unseat Rice as the best ever at WR.

And the comment which started this whole thing is Sherman saying that Revis is not in the conversation about the best CB in the league until he returns. Once he's back on the field he's in the conversation.
That prompted Revis to lash out at Sherman and start a trash talking battle. It basically ended when Revis responded with some *ic statement about he's a better CB because he has more twitter followers than Sherman.

I just heard him say that he feels better about the condition of the Cardinals right now than he did about the Colts last year at this time. I can understand that.
The Cardinals have some very good talent on both sides of the ball. Especially on defense. I also don't think their QB situation is as bad as many people think.
The Cardinals QB situation last year was aggravated by extremely poor coaching decisions. That was possibly one of the worst examples of coaching I've ever seen at the professional level. Quality coaching will get them heading in the right direction fairly quickly I think.

So he covers the best player all the time AND locks down an entire side of the field?!? What can't he do?!?
Did Revis play this year? It looks like he can't stay on the field for one thing.

I expect him to improve in some areas, but not that much. At least not in the form of 35 TD's and 10 INT's.

Huh? What point? It says Luck far outperformed the other two in the most critical aspects of the QB position. Cannot be any more plain than that. Just accept that you lost this one. It's ok. We all lose sometimes.
Then you read the article and only absorbed what you wanted to absorb. It said he outperfomed the others in one specific area. Not by much, but outperformed them just the same. Nowhere did it make the claim that Luck is a far better QB than the others.

If you look only at his stats last season, you'd say he did better than average. Good completion %. He had better stats than some other QB's who are considered much better. One problem is he plays for a horrible team in uncertain circumstances.
