I think Toler can hang with Smiths speed wise but as far as trying to hang with him from a football IQ and route running wise....I don't hold much hope for that. I actually think Smith will have plenty of success in the slot on crossing routes as well off our Linebackers.
I think getting pressure on Flacco and stopping the run is key in this game from a defensive standpoint because if we don't do that then its Steve Smith on Toler and with only our Safeties behind him.
Confuse Flacco with blitzes, Make him uncomfortable.
Offensively jump on the Ravens early with an efficient passing attack while taking a few well timed shots down the field when we cross the 50...especially when they go to single high Safety looks...Elam will bite on it using play action
You and New Colts Fan are the only ones post that I ever take the time to read. great observations as always. Refreshing to see people actually know what they're talking about.

Why are we doing these single threads? Strongly dislike. Have to go through page after page just to catch up to certain topic in mind and like other people said, it's nice to be able to just talk about one topic that u wanna talk about and keep it organized.

Grigson traded for Richardson last year, so nothing is ruled out.
Trent wasn't currently suspended. Huge difference
-
You know, Miami isn't exactly the best place for those who struggle with temptation from doing wrong
Between the women, weather, crime, & drugs...... Yeah..... Doesn't look pretty
Terrible excuse! Did Jason Taylor ever get in trouble? Could be wrong here but doesn't Dion get suspended for an entire season if he fails another test again? Yeah I'll pass. You seem to favor certain people and then ride them like a giddy school girl.
-
Send Holmes and a 4th to Miami for Dion and we make him an OLB in our defense like a athletic specimen like himself is supposed to be
Would say send Rogers & that 4th but the forum might explode from the Roger's supporter's who believe He's the next HOFer WR
So let me get this straight. You don't wanna trade for a proven beast like Aldon Smith because he is a "troublemaker" but yet you'll get all giddy at the thought of trading for a guy that's currently suspended and using PEDs? What has Dion Jordan even done since being in the NFL. I never even hear about him. You're really hypocritical.
-
They have this guy named Khalil Mack, you may have heard of him...
Isn't he the guy that tackled his own teammate? lol
-
you know whos won many games? mark sanchez, vince young
Vince Young won many games? Lol

We did go back to back against 2 of the best LTs in the league. I want to see if Werner gets free next week. I would also like to see McNary in blitz packages on the inside, and also try him on the outside rushing the passer. Freeman may miss another game. If so put Muamba in there and turn he and McNary loose. Walden has been inches away about 6 times too...something has to give.
As I said in the Grigson thread...I am sure Grigs is in his office 24/7 trying to come up with something. Not Aldon Smith.
Last I thought, come playoff time you're usually going up against the best of the best. So are we just gonna pretend everything's all good if we have a decent rush against bad blocking teams? Not how this works. We have no one on this roster right now that is a constant threat in the pass rush. Wait until all the good QBs start heating up mid season..we'll get picked apart.
-
Superbowl team? Have you seen our offensive coordinator? He is the one thing that can keep us out of the playoffs.
Ya I seen him dialing up a great Running game, I've also seen Andrew throw a couple pics and trent lose a couple balls. Is that Peps fault too? I also seen Werner flat on his face 90% of the night. We're 2 weeks into the season, the offense has plenty of time to figure things out. The pass rush..not so much. The talent is not there and that will be our demise.
-
How do you know he'll even make it to the playoffs before he gets in trouble again?
Makes no sense to trade a time bomb just waiting to go off. Instead of enjoying the colts games you'll have fans wondering
"Did Aldon do anything to get in trouble last night?"
As of right now, he is scheduled to be back a few weeks before the playoffs so that's what I'm going off of, I don't play the what if game and I don't judge people off of past mistakes. Ever think maybeee he learned from his mess ups and doesn't wanna ruin his career? Can't be so scared to take a risk on talent.
-
Nope not Aldon Smith.
Any better ideas? Or are we just gonna struggle to get into the playoffs and then get picked apart by every QB cuz we have no pass rush?
-
You're right, we have plenty of reasons to trade for a pass rusher
Not trade for a knucklehead who's on his way out of the NFL soon
There's a difference
When your teams main pass rushing threat is Erik Walden it doesn't matter. As long as it's nothing above a 4th rounder 3rd at the highest I would take that deal and run. He's a knucklehead off the field, but an absolute beast on the field. Would not hurt to have his talents come playoff time, if we can find a pass rush by end of season then this is still a superbowl team.

Luck needs coaches that will push and challenge him, he doesnt need inexperienced yes men. Luck doesn't have the temperament to stand up to anyone. He seems way to laid back. Like Eli Manning. Eli had a defense though, Luck does not. I can't imagine Manning, Brees, Brady, Rodgers or Rivers continuing to hand the ball to trent richardson. I can't imagine them sitting back and just accepting these lackluster gameplans. Luck is way too nice imo. I don't think he has a desire to be the best at his position. I think he's too selfless and needs to be more selfish. But nobody around here listens to me. A Holes get the job done. Nice guys finish last. There is a lot of truth in that imho.
Luck is too nice? Yes men? You couldn't be any more wrong about that and we are all dumber now for reading that.
-
This was already discussed somewhere...the answer is no. Absolutely no reason to trade for him.
No reason to? Might wanna re word that lol. Colts have plenty of reasons to trade for a pass rusher
-
We need Shawn Oakman. 6'9" 280LB pass rusher outta Baylor.
-
After watching our team, if you think we need a running back then you're lost.
-
If anyone suggest Gurley then to be nice that's a really dumb idea.

Most people here keep saying not to give up on Werner yet. If not now, then when? This guy give no pass rush and no pressure on the QB at all. He is a complete zero in this area and for the life of me I cannot see why everyone doesn't just say "bust" and get him out of here.
Oh idk...maybe not in his 2nd game of his 2nd season?? He's getting dumped on so far, but we're trying to use him as our main pass rush threat. That's not the type of player he is. Use him more like Paul Kruger and Werner will be effective...who other then Werner right now for us is a threat to get to the QB?? Find someone to be a constant threat and that'll open things up for Werner.
-
The Jags sacked Foles 5x last week, and a 3rd string Tackle kept our best pass rusher in check basically all night.
Walden did a lot better, and I'm not giving up on Werner yet, but dang, last night was pretty pathetic as far as pass rush. Don't give me any garbage about doom and gloom and overreacting either...it's an absolutely legitimate concern.
I realize Grigs wants to roll with what we have, but what can we do about this?
Give Newsome, Chris Carter more opportunity?
Are there any free agents worth a crap?
Trade someone?
What else?
We should just wait it out. No more trading draft picks lol. YouTube Shawn Oakman. 6'9" 280LB pass rusher. I'd like to see us do something like the Browns and Rams have done recently and find a way to get extra Draft picks in the early round. We need a stud C and a Pass Rusher capable of 12+ sacks a year.
-
Id say do whatever it takes to Draft Shawn Oakman next year. He would bring that mean physical presence to our pass rush. I'm tired of seeing Werner get dumped on. Is a good player and I think one day he'll be an 8sacks a year type player but he is not main pass rusher material!! He has no moves yet

Next year's Draft should go like this.
1st: OLB or OL
2nd: ^ whichever position didn't go 1st
3rd: CB or S
4th: OLB
5th: OL
ENOUGH RBs AND WRs AND TEs

If I was the Colts I would start making plays now. Either find a way to get us 2 1st round picks for next year's Draft or make a trade for a pass rusher this season using a Draft pick. I feel like we have too many play makers on offense that they're just going to waste cuz Andrew doesn't seem like he is all about spreading the ball. Our defense has ZERO playmakers!!! NONE!!! Mathis was it. Who's our guy to get turnovers and swing momentum?!? We need better ILB play. Better OLB play. Our Safetys surprisingly didn't look too bad.
-
We need to figure things out before we waste all of our years with Luck like we did with Manning. I'd be begging Gruden or Cowher to come coach Lucks team. Colts have gotta start getting aggressive. Moves need to be made with our O-Line and pass rush. If you wanna be a power run team even tho you have a stud at QB fine....but you better at least have a good run blocking line first!!!! Stubborn, inexperienced coaching staff will be our demise.
Coaches need to Re-evaluated!... NOW
