4/24 really not bad
-
YES! It's confirmed! LANDRYS GOING TO INDY!!!
-
I'm not so hot on Hankin's, feels like a big potential bust. Jenkins will be good in the NFL as a NT, but we need players that can play NT AND DE in a 3-4. And yes, I do like Sylvester Williams over Jesse Williams. Woah I just realized they have the same last name.
-
Yeah it's 7 mill a year for Ellerbe
-
Everybody is "interested" in a big name player, but few are willing to cough up big name money.
-
VERY much like this mock, we come out of FA with two new O-lineman plus another in the draft for depth, a nice big guy to play on the line (still not completely sure on Short, though), we get Shamarko Thomas who everybody loves, and THANK YOU for giving us Brandon Jenkins! This guy could've been a first round pick if he didn't get injured for the year, fits perfectly as a 3-4 OLB, and not to mention terrifc value in the bottom of the 3rd.
-
And plus, this draft is loaded with tons of promising pass rushing prospects all over the place.
-
Unless if Kruger's willing to get paid less to be reunited with his old coach and play for a contender, then I'd say let Cleveland outbid us.
-
I dont see Datone Jones of UCLA in this list. He would make one heck of a 3-4 DE, IMO. He compares to Cory Redding, who was a high draft pick, if I am not mistaken. Redding finally found a niche in the 3-4 as a DE after starting off as a 4-3 DT initially and has done better there so far.
If Datone Jones of UCLA is available, I would not be disappointed if he is our pick.
I'm not so sure about that, Jones is about 30-40 pounds lighter than Redding, and D-lineman in the 3-4 have to be able to take on double teams as there are only 3 of them, and let the linebackers fly around and make tackles.

In this draft, personally, I'm most interested in taking a 3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB with the 24th overall pick. However, it seems no matter what way I work it, it never works out for us. I've done 8 mock drafts in almost a month, and the only time I had a good 3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB fall to us were in my first 3, so I always put us down for Rhodes or Trufant.
I try my best to avoid bias in my mock drafts, like intentionally letting a Sheldon Richardson or Damontre Moore fall to us. Am I over-correcting myself? Is there a real possibility that a player like that could fall to us?
Here is my latest mock draft:
1. KC- Luke Joeckel
2. Jags- Dion Jordan
3. Raiders- Geno Smith
4. Philly- Eric Fisher
5. Lions- Dee Millner
6. Browns- Bjoern Werner
7. Cards- Matt Barkley
8. Bills- Cordarelle Patterson
9. Jets- Shariff Floyd
10. Titans- Ezekiel Ansah
11. Chargers- Lane Johnson
12. Miami- Star Lotulelei
13. Tampa- Sheldon Richardson
14. Carolina- Kenny Vacarro
15. Saints- Barkevious Mingo
16. St. Louis- Chance Warmack
17. Pitt- Jarvis Jones
18. Dallas- Johnathan Cooper
19. Giants- Damontre Moore
20. Chicago- Alec Ogletree
21. Cincy- Arthur Brown
22. Rams- Keenan Allen
23. Vikings- Tavon Austin
24. Colts- Xavier Rhodes
25. Seahawks- Kawaan Short
26. Packers- Tyler Eiffert
27. Texans- Quinton Patton
28. Denver- Desmond Trufant
29. Patriots- Johnthan Banks
30. 49ers- John Jenkins
31. Patriots- Margus Hunt
32. Ravens- Jessie Williams
I also try to put some variety in my mock drafts, so if you say a certain team would get another player, odds are, they have in at least one of my mocks.
-
Always the best when we get guys who are underrated in most respects, but fit well into our system.
-
I've heard Loadholt's name being tossed around a few times before. He's powerful and a bulldozer, and even if his pass blocking isn't that great, it's still a definite upgrade over Winston Justice.
-
Looks like we wanted to retain more of our O-line that we thought. Unless if Grigs just wants some depth.
-
I like it, addressing the O-line in Free agency along with a corner, and getting some good talent in the front 7 through the first few rounds of the draft.
-
Look, we knew coming in, Avery wasn't going to be a superstar #1 receiver. We expected him to battle with TY and Brazill, which is exactly what he did. You say another season won't improve his hands? That could still be true, but Grigs is gonna watch Avery and look if he sees him working on his improvement, and then decide. Maybe he's got some faith in Jeremy Kelley or new OC Pep Hamilton works with his old WR Griff Whalen so he can get moved up to replace Avery.
-
If Usain Bolt runs a 3.9 40, does that mean he should be taken with the first pick overall because it looks like he'll be a speedy wide receiver who can burn d-backs? Heck no, maybe he's got bricks for hands, or can't hold on to the ball. Games aren't won by how fast you ran one day before you were even in the NFL, it's how you play.
-
I like that Grigs sits down with the guys from small schools too.....diamonds can come from anywhere....
Absolutely. Sometimes I even prefer prospects from smaller schools because they're being overlooked, and being from a low level of college football, they will have something to prove.
-
Maybe Griff Whalen will be brought up now that his old OC is in town. He was Luck's room mate and favorite target (yes, even over Fleener), and in the right system, virtually any player could excel. As for Avery, I think he definitely proved himself last year, but with Pep Hamilton coming in to call the plays and establish more of a ground game, is Avery still a good fit for his system? In my opinion, I think he still would be.
-
Man I'd definitely love to be in this, but I'm busy tonight
-
In other words, that's completely *ic
-
Ranking Louis Vasquez as the best guard above Andy Levitre? He's certainly the minority with that belief.
-
I love this mock a ton, we could definitely get Rhodes or Trufant in Round 1, but actually, I'd love to get one of the many 3-4 OLB's in Round 3- Jamie Collins, Chase Thomas, Cornelius Tank Carradine, Brandon Jenkins.
-
Couldn't find any real report on him, just his resume
-
I'm not crazy about Okafor either, and I think there are lots of other players who would both fit our system and turn out better than aren't getting a ton of recognition who we could pick up if we traded up in the 3rd, or could still fall to us in that round- Chase Thomas, Cornellius "Tank" Carradine, and Brandon Jenkins
