  1. VERY much like this mock, we come out of FA with two new O-lineman plus another in the draft for depth, a nice big guy to play on the line (still not completely sure on Short, though), we get Shamarko Thomas who everybody loves, and THANK YOU for giving us Brandon Jenkins! This guy could've been a first round pick if he didn't get injured for the year, fits perfectly as a 3-4 OLB, and not to mention terrifc value in the bottom of the 3rd.

  2. I dont see Datone Jones of UCLA in this list. He would make one heck of a 3-4 DE, IMO. He compares to Cory Redding, who was a high draft pick, if I am not mistaken. Redding finally found a niche in the 3-4 as a DE after starting off as a 4-3 DT initially and has done better there so far.

If Datone Jones of UCLA is available, I would not be disappointed if he is our pick.

I'm not so sure about that, Jones is about 30-40 pounds lighter than Redding, and D-lineman in the 3-4 have to be able to take on double teams as there are only 3 of them, and let the linebackers fly around and make tackles.

  3. In this draft, personally, I'm most interested in taking a 3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB with the 24th overall pick. However, it seems no matter what way I work it, it never works out for us. I've done 8 mock drafts in almost a month, and the only time I had a good 3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB fall to us were in my first 3, so I always put us down for Rhodes or Trufant.

I try my best to avoid bias in my mock drafts, like intentionally letting a Sheldon Richardson or Damontre Moore fall to us. Am I over-correcting myself? Is there a real possibility that a player like that could fall to us?

Here is my latest mock draft:

    1.       KC- Luke Joeckel

    15.   Saints- Barkevious Mingo

    16.   St. Louis- Chance Warmack

    30.   49ers- John Jenkins

    31.   Patriots- Margus Hunt

    32.   Ravens- Jessie Williams

I also try to put some variety in my mock drafts, so if you say a certain team would get another player, odds are, they have in at least one of my mocks.

  4. Look, we knew coming in, Avery wasn't going to be a superstar #1 receiver. We expected him to battle with TY and Brazill, which is exactly what he did. You say another season won't improve his hands? That could still be true, but Grigs is gonna watch Avery and look if he sees him working on his improvement, and then decide. Maybe he's got some faith in Jeremy Kelley or new OC Pep Hamilton works with his old WR Griff Whalen so he can get moved up to replace Avery.

  5. Maybe Griff Whalen will be brought up now that his old OC is in town. He was Luck's room mate and favorite target (yes, even over Fleener), and in the right system, virtually any player could excel. As for Avery, I think he definitely proved himself last year, but with Pep Hamilton coming in to call the plays and establish more of a ground game, is Avery still a good fit for his system? In my opinion, I think he still would be.
