I'm really diggin Quinton Patton- he's not a guy who just run go routes from the slot or stuff like that. He's a very good possession receiver and has certainly proven himself to be picked in the top 64, and even his NFL comparison on NFL.com is Reggie Wayne
-
Stats certainly can be misleading, but the biggest thing scouts should base you on is what you've proven in college. Sure, players like Margus Hunt and Dion Jordan could have the perfect height/weight combination, but then again, I fit perfectly into my tailored suit, so does that mean I'm gonna become a CEO in the Fortune 500 someday?

I would like Lattimore, Patton, or Jesse Williams. I would be happy with any of them. I'd even be happy with Stephan Taylor too.
This is as close to my thinking as possible. I think Lattimore's injuries have made him that much more of a hard worker, I really love Patton and have no idea how he's slid down this far (I think it's funny how his NFL comparison on nfl.com is Reggie Wayne), and I'd also love some more players to fit in our D-line, as we don't have great depth. And I'd be perfectly okay getting Taylor, he's a good tough, yet shifty back who'd be a good compliment to Ballard.
-
I like Barret Jones or Arthur Brown- but seeing as those two could possibly be gone, maybe best corner available or next up O-lineman if it's not a huge reach.
-
Yea pass rushing OLB, who starts, him or Walden?
Hmm... that's a darn good question. I like the pick, although it seems no one in the chat does. But I think there's a 60-40 chance Werner starts over Walden.
-
All seems good, but if you wanna stick with the same players, you should switch Richardson with Lotulelei, who can play both DE and NT.
-
DJ Hayden. It's a tough one for me, but I really love this kid, he's the greatest character in the draft, has the heart of a lion, and even a great player. He's a man on a mission to prove all the doubters wrong, way more than anyone else. Not to mention that learning under DB whisperer Pagano would boost him up bigtime. Not to mention are corners would be way good.

I wouldn't dare touch Woods in the first, I guess I'd be fine taking Tank in the first, but with Datone Jones, everyone's saying he looks and plays different than normal players. Well guess what- we have a HYBRID defense where he'd be at his best, and to me, the d-line is the most important spot on the field. And I really like DJ Hayden, he's a not only a great player, but a true leader and has fantastic character. And in the end, it's not need you should try to draft for or necessarily even BPA. It's who's the most proven leader and team player combined with skills who's gonna help you out the most. So even though I don't view Cornerback as a real need, I'd be more than pleased if we took Hayden with our first pick.
-
I'd be cool with getting an O-lineman in the third, like Frederick or Jones- as long as we got a pass rusher in the first or are gonna get one like Chase Thomas in the fourth.
-
Pass rusher all day, ever day. Without a pass rush, no defense in today's NFL can be any good.

There are some years when people think this is a terrific draft class that doesn't end up turning out that well, and there are some that don't seem to have a ton of talent and get rated low, but then turn out to be great. I don't think this years any different, just a classic case of bad scouting, when the better players get projected low and are taken there. Just like any year, there are gonna be some late round gems and diamonds in the rough.
-
I like this list. My favorite would be Datone Jones and Cory Lemonier.
-
I think Arthur Brown would be great for our defense, as we have no true 3-4 ILB's that can go out and lay the wood. Although I certainly wouldn't mind trading back first.
-
Our pass rush should already be improved (somewhat) from RJF and Erik Walden. i also would love to take Datone Jones in the first round, a better than average 3-4 DE pass rusher as well as stout against the run, and then in the third or fourth take Chase Thomas. Both I believe are underrated guys, and would THRIVE in our Hybrid Defense.
-
We're too young of a team with too many wholes to risk on one player, rather than scouting out some good gems and diamonds in the rough in the mid-rounds.
I can not believe I just said wholes instead of holes...
-
I'm not sure I follow..
We're a young team, therefore we need as many rookies as possible..?

No, I still wouldn't like trading up. Were too young of a team to afford this.
-
I'd be more inclined to draft a player with marijuana issues than troubles with the law, and especially authority issues. I think we'd also be better off taking players with such concerns in another year or two, when our new generation of leaders have some more experience, but that's not to say I wouldn't be totally against it for this year, especially with Pagano at the helm and fixing up troubled players.
-
I'm still not totally sure on Damontre Moore, a ton of negatives circling around him. Also, after going through an offense-dominated draft from last year, and being that our defense still probably isn't as good as our offense, this draft should be more defense-oriented.
-
In a hybrid and versatile defense like ours, what player's more hybrid and versatile than Datone Jones? He'd be a 3-4 DE who can bull rush and stop the run, but also has good pass rushing technique and a great use of his hands. In a hybrid defense, tweeners are expected to come along. Not to mention that with everybody vying for Mathis replacement now that he's old, may I remind you all that Cory Redding is THE SAME EXACT AGE. It just doesn't seem like it because he's only had one year with us. I think Defensive Line is the most important position on the field (hear me out- the line controls the game + defense wins championships= Defensive Line as most important). I also feel more comfortable drafting one of these mid round OLB's with a lot of promise rather than the mid round D-lineman in this years draft. Datone Jones is our kind of guy, and I'd be more than ok with us taking him at #24, and there's even the possibility of us trading back in the 1st and still grabbing him.
-
You do realize its Jarvis Jones at 6'2 and 242OK...I was with this draft until 24. I am convinced Indiana Jones at 283 pounds is a 4-3 DE not capable of playing OLB in the Pagano/Manusky 3-4. Other than that a superb mock!! However:::::::::
You are hereby sentenced to writing every Bleacher Report Mock on the chalkboard for 5 days 16 hours and 36 minutes... DRAFT DAY IS NEAR!!!!
-
Aside from those obvious ones like Warmack, Cooper, Lotulelei, Jones, I also like Datone Jones and Arthur Brown. Both are players who could really help our defense out and fit our scheme greatly.
-
I do want Jarvis to fall to Indy, and while there were suitors for him, he very likely COULD fall to Indy. All the other suitors have other more glaring needs!
Yes, but in this case, drafting need vs. value would draft Elam about 10 or 20 spots higher than he really should be. Unless if Jones' medical issues (that have been cleared) still scare away a few teams, than it's pretty likely they could still take Elam.
-
I'm just curious, was this a mock where you saved Jarvis for Indi? Because I think there were some very likely suitors to take him instead of their mock pick, such as Cincy picking Matt Elam
Sooo we passed on cordarrelle patterson...

Oh, ye of little faith- to all of you. Ryan Grigson AKA Reigning NFL Executive of the Year knows how to manage a team inside and out. There are plenty of times when a player projected for system A goes to system B, and common sense kicks in, telling us that Patterson is rawer than the meat you just grabbed out of the store's frozen section to be better in comparison to what Werner has proved. I was SO glad when we passed up on Patterson and took my favorite player on the board, Bjoern Werner.
