I’m curious, what’s your current opinion of Caleb Williams? I’m torn between the hype and the actual play. I’ve only seen 4 of his games but he’s not impressed me as this generational talent he was billed as

I agree with you however his pocket presents and ability to pass on the run reminds me of Mahomes.

When was the last time you heard of a hamstring, that was injured in the spring, BEFORE the draft, still having the player on IR at week 11? Let alone somehow tearing the opposite ham string during rehab and therapy.

Just today. Never heard it before.

The way I see it is he was always a high risk pick and they took a pretty big gamble by drafting him where they did.  Im not going to be surprised at all if he doesnt pan out

He could also become a good player thats fun to watch.  I guess we will find out in the next year or two

People complained for years that Ballard was risk adverse and that he needed to take a risk on getting a franchise QB knowing that it always a crap shoot but you have to take risk in order to get ahead. He took the risk and I will be happy if he turns out well but will not be one of those 'told you so guys' if he doesn't. there have been a few who already are doubting Ballard. Can't wait to see him next year.

Looked at the Bears and they actually have a very good WILL so am ruling out the Bears.

Detroit Lions.  They drafted Jack Campbell and have high hopes for him to succeed at WILL but thought he was a true MLB in college.  Not interested/true need nor do they offer upside in the way of draft picks.

My top trade team is the Arizona Cardinals.  Seems they moved away from a 3-4 base and now use a 4-3 type base and their WILL is horrible.  Leonard would be an immediate upgrade for them plus the team has availabile cap space.  More importantly the draft capital for trade.  Offer Leonard for this year’s second and one of their thirds.

Wish you were the Cardinals GM!

So I take it that you believe Chris Ballard is a top gm and that he has built a very talented team even though his RECORD doesn't reflect that after YEARS of being on the job. It's becoming almost laughable at this point with the "we're not that far off" narrative when in all actuality we're CLOSER to the cellar in our OWN division as the Jags have come up and now the Texans seem to be on the right path that I don’t think will take 8 yrs!

This is not even INCLUDING the afc teams like the Dolphins, Bengals, Browns, Chargers and Bills who have come up during Ballard's tenure. Or winning teams like the Ravens and Chiefs who got aggressive by moving up in the draft to snag their guy at qb . Here we are talking about the SAME positions of need on a YEARLY basis with Ballard but this is a grievance thread in your view. Lol Funny how nationally the sport's world thinks that the Colts don't have enough PLAYMAKERS at the positions that matter to CONTEND but on THIS forum there are some who believe that Ballard is all world based on his "PHANTOM" success.

You can keep on drinking his Kool-aid and using the snake oil that he's selling that's your prerogative not mine. At the end of the day Tobin, Polian and even the lackluster Grigson ALL had better winning percentages with Colt teams that saw at least ONE conference championship game. I know look at their qbs you'll say but guess what? Ballard had the SAME option to snag a young qb after Luck's departure but CHOSE guys like Scott Tolzien, Brian Hoyer, Brissett, Eason, a washed Ryan, Wentz and Rivers (who actually was decent in his only season) Lord forbid that Minshew gets hurt or we'll have his other qb reach in the subpar Sam Ehlinger who Shannon Sharpe said couldn't play dead in a horror movie! Wow

I will keep drinking the kool-aid and using the snake oil before I start drinking your poison and accepting the constant degrading of our team,s FO, Coaches and, to use your words, the marginal players we have on our team. Just not wanting to lower myself to that.

  6. Man this is like reading another Ballard grievance thread. I agree that we need help in some positions but don't agree with some of the positions mentioned. First I think Fries has played quite well the later part of last year and definitely this year. Hardly a game this year has he had the same two guys playing on either side of him. Between Smith and Kelly, they both have missed a lot of time and Smith was not effective when he played this year.

As far as the DEs. I don't think they are that bad playing in Gus's D. We hardly ever blitz so it's 5 OL vs 4 DL. So far Paye has 3.5 sacks and 13TFL, Ebukam has 4 sacks and 22 TFL, Dayo in a more limited time has 3 sacks and 11 TFL and Buckner with very limited time at DE and most time at DT has 5 sacks and 21 TFL. I truly believe if we blitzed more and our corners covered better you would see more pressure from the outside.

I think our weakest positions is corner and WR and depth along the OL. Would very much like to see us pick up a WR with speed in RD1 and fill in the rest in the draft and FA.  LB concerns me the way Lenard is playing but a possibility of freeing a huge chunk of cash if he doesn't play better by year end. If Richardson comes back and plays well I don't think we are that far off.

He was our best coverage linebacker.  I would bet his grade was good.  I thought he had a great year.  I was surprised we let him walk.

We had our $ 90M LB returning and Franklin came off a great year. Guess they weren't prepared to pay him what he wanted.

Well, Bobby Okereke is the 7th highest graded Coverage LB this season...

Coulda, woulda, shoulda and all that, but this still points to Ballard...

What was Okereke's coverage grade in this defense last year? I think he was in the mid teens last year which isn't bad.

I don't think it would have been any different with Richardson the last three games if you just want to count winning. We put up a lot of points, the defense is just horrible. Couldn't stop old people at an old folks home.

9 turnover by Minshew in the last 3 games. Not all on the D.

  10. I gave him a very good up to this point. Granted a small sample size at this point but a breath of fresh air compared to Frank. Watching our offense is quit exciting compared to the predictability we saw in the past. Long way to go for a Super Bowl but very good up to this point considering a very weak secondary and OL being banged up.

I didn't catch the explanation on the ineligible downfield call. The guy was clearly more than 1 yard past the line of scrimmage when the pass was thrown, so I don't understand why they picked it up.

I thought heard them say that the pass was caught behind the line of scrimmage so negated the illegal man down field.

When Ballard can prove himself to be a winning GM, then the hate will stop. He has a losing record, hasn't won a playoff game since 2018, and took until this year to finally draft a franchise QB (that may or may not hit, not a guarantee yet). Maybe if he was more aggressive in building the team in FA and trades people would feel different, but besides drafting Richardson (who we won't see until next year and a somewhat better overall team (which took 7 years), we're not that much closer to winning anything since Ballard became the GM while many other teams have drafted their franchise QB and are contenders year in and year out).

There's a Ballard grievances thread for all you haters. I suspect that is why they put it there.

  13. Nice to see a positive thread. Thanks JH. I think we are on a positive course after some years of misfortune and some not so good coaching. I thing Ballard hit a homerun with Steichen and SS seems to have had success putting together a good staff. Really like our new OL coach.

Minshew is playing better than half than the rich starters. The Colts have a double barrel running attack. If the Cots coaching staff can develop a strategy of how to best implement the three (QB +2 RBs) it will be a nice season to sit back and enjoy. I don't know the injury history of AR so I hope this shoulder injury is a fluke. A plyer as athletic as he is does not mean he is injury proof. Maybe he will learn how to protect himself against hits. Pros hit harder the college boys.

Dr ChowS\ said he does not feel he is injury prone. I agree with your observations.

Right, so they protect themselves against their teams that might want them back ASAP to win games this season.

This is the Colts future. Do you really think he is out seeking these opinions on his own, that he is out on an island alone. The Colts medical staff is leading this medical endeavor, don't kid yourself. They don't want him at risk of ruining his career any more than AR himself.
