  1. I was thinking, I would like to see in this upcoming draft the colts to take an elite safety or Corner...Someone that can become the new leader for our Defense. Instead of taking Luck, get some help on D..make our D a dominant force.

I also like the idea of getting Peytons Replacement(Luck). Then again, I like the Idea of trying to build a Fierce Defense. Obviously 1 draft pick wont make it happen..but we are weak at safety and Cb's...We have a strong linebacker core, I think its time to Ditch Brackett(I like the guy,but i think its time) only because I see better hope with Angerer, Wheeler, and Connor. Then our Line..Line needs help and has needed help for some time. so its safe to say we should improve there as well. I dont really think our Offense needs improvement, maybe more depth, but not improvement. we could work on Offense in later rounds or next years draft. I just would really like a nice Defense with a strong safety like Ed Reed, or even another Sanders.

I dont watch much college football so I dont even know what this years prospects are going to be like. Its just a thought. And I am sure this could merge with many, many, many topics...I just decided Id make this thread simply for Defense and Building it.

  2. I think Mac had a pretty good point and GoColts8818. I dont make these excuses but I have found myself fallowing them, and its something I dont normally do, but this is also my first season seeing the colts in a bad spot...I been fan forever, but when peyton got drafted I was only 9 so his rookie season isnt something I really remember much...all i remember is the colts were winners and have been, and ever since I can remember analyst were writing this team for dead, but fans would make "excuses" as to why this season we still have some fight in us. I dont need these excuses to believe in my team, although I have bought into them for some reason. Thats why I made this post...when do the excuses stop or not really become and excuses...as some have mentioned they arent excuses they are the truth...and I like that better then the word "excuses"

  3. this was a 8-8 or 9-7 team at best with a Healthy Peyton, without you are looking 1 or 2 or maybe 3 wins. The excuse is we are just not that good. We have been good to great for how long? At somepoint that goes away and yo have to rebuild.

Yea I know it, I mean i knew the time after peyton we would not have a winning season for a while. I just like the one record the colts hold(and would hope to continue) and thats being the only team I believe to make the playoffs 9 or 10 consecutive years...I mean that is one heck of a accomplishment and would love to see it keep going, unfortunately it appears it might just end this season!

  4. I have seen plenty of times from forum to forum about how we keep losing to Poor D and because Kerry isnt use to receivers or playbook yet. Well I understand the Defense and Also Collins as well, but when do the excuses for collins become point less. Like, lets say its week 6 and we still havent won a single game. Do we still use the excuse that he is out of sync still with receivers or he still hasnt got the hang of the offense..Because last week they ran a few no-huddles and it looked like he was getting a better grasp of things, but still needs some fine tuning.

Obviously to me, the only way our D will get better is if we work on our DB's and change or scheme. I dont see either one happening this year or possibly even next year.

As far as offense goes, excuses can only carry us for so long..There is still hope left in the tank but my excuses are running slim..I mean if we end up being 0-16....All I can say is its for Luck lol

  5. Reading some of these posts reminds me of a game at the old RCA Dome with the Falcons and Mike Vick. The talk leading up to the game was that Vick was going to run wild on us and that the Colts could do nothing about it. Freeney ate him alive. We had the ability last week, we lacked the intensity. This week, at home, will change things. Cribbs is an amazing talent, as is Peyton Hillis. I still think we can stop them. I actually like having Angerer at MLB. He was all over the field last week. I like Conner and Hagler. I do not think we will be as soft in the middle. If we can stop them a couple of times early, we can, and will, take the lead....and the game.

    Completely agree

  6. They had several in the 20's and 30's before the passing ball was adopted. The last was in 1943.

I kind of think it would be exciting to watch teams get close and turn the ball over or get into fg range go for it and miss...and eventually finish 0-0. It sounds like it would a tough fought, but yet very inconsistent game if it would happen today...alot of turnovers and lost of miss opportunities

  7. Last I heard, Gary Brackett and Ernie Sims are injured. Peyton is obviously out. We were awful in every facet of last week's game. As for Peyton Hillis, he actually has surprisingly great speed and can turn the outside effectively (ex. The New England game last season). But what scares me about him isn't the speed, it's the strength. You don't need to be fast against the Colts - just run up the middle e-v-e-r-y single play, and watch what happens. It's an easy 5yds e-v-e-r-y single time, and with both Gary Brackett and Ernie Sims presumably not playing, it will only get worse.

Also, Colt McCoy wont be rattled, because we've been struggling to get pressure on QB's. Plus, with Hillis inside run game, Freeney and Mathis will have to account for the gaps instead of the outside, compromising our pass rush.

Finally, don't forget about Joshua Cribbs - one of the best return men in the NFL, perhaps second only to Devin Hester. Cribbs will burn us, big time.

Not to be the devil's advocate to this topic, but it wont even be close. Browns 28 - Colts 7. I don't feel bad though, cause Andrew Luck will be a Colt! ::Party time::

you could be right, and then again you could be wrong..im going to still say we improve on the mistakes and win this game..not easily but we will win.

  8. I guess just to simply put my feelings out there, Im a true colts fan have been for years, but I am also a fan of football..I have several teams I enjoy to watch(except when the come to Indy or we go to them). I dont like the Patriots, but i dont mind the fans either...fans are fans regardless...so some fans can be foolish at times...and act like complete fools but take it like this....I am not like you..and your not like someone else...so what is to say these few Pats fans here are like any other pats fans you have encountered before.

On the other hand I missed the show and was kind of upset cause I was really looking forward to see it. I mean, I have already stated I dont like the Pats, but I do like Bill Bellichick(or however you spell it). I am also I fan of the Saints(back in the Deuce Mcallister days), fans of the Panthers...When Delhomme took them to the Superbowl& on. I like Tampa Bay(dont really know why but do). So I mean its not crazy to be a fan of just the NFL or other Teams, is it?

  9. Lets just say Peyton never had that neck surgery and simply because he didnt have any problem with his neck this year. Colts would still possibly be 0-1, but be a favorite going against the browns this week. Peytons streak would have obviously continued and he would have surpassed Dan Mareno(at Least I think) for second in all-time Td's. But forget all that...We would more than likely make the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season and possibly went on to the super bowl being the only team to play on home turf in the big game.

But after this season, how would the draft have went..would we pick up another under the radar player and expect them to pan out, or would the actually take a big name player(if any are left of course) in the 20-32 pick, depending how the went in the season?

Its just a thought, because it just doesnt seem like Polian is trying to build this team for our era after Peyton and of course now we are seeing just a glimpse of what a Manning-less team could possibly look like!

Dont get me wrong I still think with out him we can make the playoffs, but our chances are just not as strong as previous years, So if we dont make the playoffs we potential go from being in the 20-30 rounds to possibly 5-15 rounds of the draft..

  10. I have to say, after watching the game over and a few player interviews that my confidence for the colts this week and the upcoming weeks are high. I seen in the game the mistakes made were minor mistakes that lead to huge changes. Link missed alot of assignments, simply could have been a communication error, I dont think he is not trained well, or that he cant compete at this level. I mean he isnt a pro bowl linemen by any means. Collins didnt have any interception last week but had fumbles(mainly due to missed assignments from the line). Our running backs did well last week and I look for that to continue. Defense just didnt get any pressure and our Dbs played off receivers. This week I think the Dline will get better pressure and our Dbs unfortunately I dont see changing.Lb are banged up but I think the players that will play in there place are better options, just my opinion. and then special teams, that is what will make or break this game. I know and im sure most of you know it, we have to stop cribbs and that will be the challenge

Its only up to the colts to fix that issue, which sticks out to be the main issue, now think about the browns..a big body back but slow(against one of the fastest Defense in the league). Young QB(who will make mistakes and not know how to handle pressure). Our D will have to win this game if our offense cant, but I think we will see a new team out there come sunday and The colts will take this WIn and run with it

  11. sweet i really really like this kid

Me Too! This kid has a spark and I really really like it! I still like Joe as our Number 1 but I think Delone needs more touches than just short yd plays. This kid is quick and can avoid hits. Brown needs to get his crap together or move out, I vote move out but thats just me

  12. I am going to go out on a limb here but I really think Pat Angerer would be the guy to get the Defense pumped up and ready to go. I could see him really just leading these guys in the right direction. As far as Offense, Id divided the leadership between wayne leading the Qb, WR, and Rb. and Saturday obviously leading the line.

So my conclusion is I think three leaders(new captains) could be made this season

  13. Good to see the players have Kerry's back. I totally agree with them. Peyton wouldn't have done much better in my opinion. As for the Williams/Clark part, I like that Caldwell is taking responsibility, but that was Link's fault. No coach in the league would have Clark block Williams one on one. Link was the primary blocker and Clark was there to help, Link just missed the assignment.

    He missed it often too!

  14. Funny! I was also at that game, it was in the 600s but more in a corner. We go up to one game with the family in December when the kids are out of school. And I got up to one with my buddies in October. Last year and this year are both against KC and the same weekend.

I don't think I've ever had a bad seat, or a bad time. Well, I take that back. We were at the Jets game two years ago.

Thats funny I took my Dad for his birthday to the Jags game on 12-19, which was the first time for us both and we said well He11 this is nice view great atmosphere and just all around awesome, so we ended up going back to the game against the Titans and after that game we went to the playoffs so we caught the last three home games of last season(including playoffs)

This year I get to attend the home opener, although I have never had that opportunity I expect the house to be rocking and still a great atmosphere even with out peyton at the helm

  15. I think Castonzo will break the Drought of terrible O-line picks, The kid is smart and has a good build. Judging from last weeks game he can block very well( I dont remember seeing any D pressure coming from his side) so thats a huge plus.

But aside from the o line discussion, what ever happened to Rob morris? I was 11 yrs old when we drafted him and I remember seeing him alot on tv, so i dont really remember how good he was but I thought he was good, they showed him alot on tv so just made me assume.

  16. I'd like to add; We aren't an 0-14 team. The fact that people are buying into this is scary stupid.

Media hype sells all to easily. Week 1 doesn't reflect a whole season in a nutshell, win or lose, huge game or pathetic game, it doesn't even offer but a glimpse of certain aspects of a team.

Yeah the media takes week one and already decied who is going to the super bowl, playoffs and who will be the wildcard teams...Its ridiculous I have seen it many of times now, The super bowl in INDY will be Patriots Vs Packers...All because those to teams had a stellar game! I guess week 1 now decides a season?

  17. Peyton doesnt make up our entire team, he is our Qb, Of course he is the master of our OFFENSE and gets us POINTS. Now we are without him for a few weeks so Defense has to step up, Special teams IMO have been our weakest point for a few years, and with cribbs bringing it back like someone said above its going to be tough.

If special teams and Dfence can step their game up from last week, collins gets the timing of receivers down then we should win. We are not horrible we just had a horrible game. It happens I am sure everyone one on here has experienced a horrrible game or something similar like the colts did last week. I think we will get more Turnovers this week and that should help. We need to just move the ball and last time I checked the browns D was nothing spectacular!

I have said it before and Ill say it again...Lets Rally behind our Colts, lets not run away with our tail between our legs. This is our team and I stand behind them till the end. Ill be attending this game and I am really excited to hopefully witness the first win of the 2011 :colts:

  18. I fit okay in Victory field seats but it can be kinda uncomfortable if all the seats are full. Also see that the Colts themselves still have seats for sale for late Dec games so might not have to go through seconday vendors.

That is nice to know, I am wanting to get some tickets to the Texans at Colts game. or Possibly Titans at colts( Which I believe is later this season). So thank you for the information, Ill look into it

  19. I tried before I responded the first time. It works but it does bring up many irrelevant topics. I might bring this up in the 'site bugs' thread.

Lets just request a merge with the existing topic and call it a day.

EDIT: I tried again and the reason so many irrelevant topics appear is because people are mentioning Andrew Luck in 32 different threads...lol. Apparently the search looks for the keywords in the thread, not just the thread title. Which can make things confusing.

I agree, to merge...also that makes a ton of sense as to why I didnt see it. I seen Gary Bracket as the first thing and immediately thought anything about Luck would come up to the top and started mine..So yeah sorry guys for the double post! I obviously need to open the eyes a bit wider next time lol

  20. Sign Carson Palmer. He wants out of cincy. They have his rights. Trade for the guy. Jesus amd I the only one that has figured this out?

I dont see where Carson Is really going to help us out either, I mean last year they didnt do anything close to good behing Palmer....Sure he has had some good years...I just dont see how he would be any better than Collins...Plus whats the point of taking another qb that doesnt know the offense, it will take them just as long to learn it just like it is collins...I seriously think we should keep Collins and just see how he does...if it ends up being the same results after week 3, give Painter a shot...It just doesnt seem smart to sign another qb when we got 3 on the roster now(well 2 non-injured)

  21. You know, a lot of times it can be easily forgiven because a topic of discussion may have a misleading thread title. But I mean....c'mon. The thread title is "Polian Scouting Andrew Luck" and it's barely halfway down the first page. Don't exactly need high tech search functions that may or may not be difficult to use so much as just a semi-functional mouse or a down arrow key.

And you might be correct, I dont think typing Luck into a search bar is considered High Tech, but when I did this, just didnt get anything at all...Really it doesnt seem to be that big of a deal Im sure I wont be the last to make a double thread and I know for dayum sure I wasnt the first!
