  1. On your way home from school, you may want to stop off at a 7-11 and buy yourself a clue.

It was never, ever going to be an open air stadium. Nor should it have been. Are you familar with a little event called the NCAA Basketball Tourney?

The NCAA guaranteed that Indy gets to host the Final 4 every five years were they to build the stadium they did. Tell me how Indy gets that bonus if the stadium is open-air?

Why is this a debate now - 4 freaking years after the stadium opened. It is what it is.

I said I can understand having a roof due to other events that we book in, but do they open the roof for the NCAA finals? Again it's a waste of money when we can't even open it when the weather is okay.

  2. Why did you want it opened so bad? What's the issue with the roof? It opens sometimes, that's why it's a retractable roof. Did you want a open field?

Yes it should have been an open stadium, but I fully understand how whimpish Colt fans are and I even do understand by having a roof you allow it to be used more, so just put a normal roof on it, having it be able to open and close was a waste of money and we are not talking chump change here either.

  3. Oh, I don't know, maybe for the same reason you don't open the sunroof in your car when it rains?

And this topic shows how little you really do know. The retractable roof wasn't added onto the stadium just for football. It was an attempt to land more summer events for the city. Most events that come to town and utilize the Luke do so in the winter. No one wants to go to an indoor event in the summer, and because they can come here and be indoors in the winter, we always get winter events. By making the roof retractable it made it less of an "inside" venue because the roof and the window can be opened, which was aimed mostly at trying to get more summer events/concerts for the city in the stadium.

Please the retractable roof is there for football and nothing else. Other non football events are not going to pick Lucas because the roof can open, they want the security and set environment an enclosed stadium offers. This was a waste of tax payer dollars like no other in Indiana history. Really it is open like what 3 times a year at best?

  4. No he should not get a free pass. All great coaches or good coaches would make changes if their star player is out. Most would make adjustments for their team to win. Caldwell on the other hand, looks lost and always looks like a deer in the headlights. I have no idea why the front office thinks he is wonderful. He sucks, the fans knows it. WFU fans knows it. But the Colts front office wants to live in fairytaleland.

given the roster makeup of the Colts exactly "what" do you want or think he could do?

  5. I would hate the Indy-KC match to be dubbed as the Toilet Bowl. Ouch, that hurts, just thinking of it :(.

Besides, given my distaste for Pete Carroll, if he is close to the end of the season, I would not put it past him to tank the Seahawks' season to land Andrew Luck, something the Colts will not do. Maybe that is why he wanted Tavaris Jackson over there in the first place, knowing what would happen :).

How could Pete take Luck over his own kid at USC....

  6. A co worker and I were talking this morning about yesterday's game and the possible chance of this team winning maybe only 2-3 games this season. My co-worker believes that anything less then a playoff appearance will result in Caldwell and staff being let go. I don't see it that way, I don't see Caldwell being let go even if they go 0-16. I can see some "coaching" changes maybe happening, but I think Polian and Irsay will use the loss of Peyton for the season as to why Caldwell will be back in 2012. So what do you all think?

  7. Completely agree Joan. I was going to start a thread asking if we should continue the "Manning Defense" (which is our version of the Tampa 2) or go to a more risk/reward type of T2. We have T2 players, that's not going to change.

So instead of the philosophy of "hold them to 24 points and out score them", basically playing cushions, why not apply pressure and man coverage more (I know we do some of that now).

The Manning Defense has to be modified sooner or later, even with Peyton as our QB. This is the perfect time to start doing it.

You don't make those type of changes in season, that is an offseason type of thing.

  8. if we stay the course we will have the same thing next year, all of us wishing and hoping for things to get better, houston changed and it worked for them

the type of change you are wanting takes seasons, not a season. So what you are wanting is for the Colts to be non factors for the next 2-3 years after this one, that won't go over with Peyton very well or the fans.

  9. sorry guys i dont see one winnable game on our schedule not even KC or car. this is probably the toughest schedule we've ever had

We should pound KC and win a close game vs. the Bengals at home. Plus I am not sold that Jax is that good either so a win vs them at home. 3-13

  10. Had not seen anyone post this...for this sunday I am going:

    Colts 17

    Browns 16

I think the Colts D will keep the Browns to FG till the very end and I think Collins will be better and we will be able to put some points on the board. I see us being up 7-3 at the end of one, then down 10-7 at half then up 14-13 at the end of three and then 17-16 at the end....

  11. Bill Polian- Vice Chairman; Chris Polian- GM and VP; Dennis Polian-Director of football administration

What type of atmosphere must there be in the FO when you see long-time employees being fired(Powers) to give positions to Polians? Do others in the front office fear dissention or offering opinions that differ from that of a Polian?

If I worked in the FO and I saw executive positions being given to the boss’s relatives, I would become an instant “yes man”.

“…what, you want to start Hughes….Good idea”

“ …you want to move Linchenbach to center…that’s what I was thinking”

Is nepotism in the FO good for the Colts? :hmm:

Only time will tell with this issue. We know from History that Dad knows what he is doing, but that doesn't mean son's do. So we just wait and see.

  12. I fit okay in Victory field seats but it can be kinda uncomfortable if all the seats are full. Also see that the Colts themselves still have seats for sale for late Dec games so might not have to go through seconday vendors.

  13. Given how ticket availability and prices look to be getting better for this upcoming season I am considering going to my first Colt game at Lucas. The seats I would look to get are the ones in the End Zone in the 500/600 level section. Just wondered how the view is from those seats and how tight or snug are the seats as I am kinda a chunky guy.
