  1. We can go as far as Luck and the defense makes up for it, which is difficult to do.  Without a good running game, no further than the AFCCG.  No i'ts not satisfactory.

Yeah, Im' not saying it's a bad argument.  It brings out the deficiencies in Trent's game if nothing else.  Never disagreed about that.  But when part of the argument is how one RB did good behind a terrible OL, is it really a good thing to bank a strong argument behind a pitiful OL?  At best, it proves Trent's not a good RB, but what it really does is solidify the argument that we aren't ready to be a superbowl contender.

Could not agree with you more.  This team is not a super bowl contender.  Not this year. Anyone that thinks so is not being objective.

  2. I'm watching the replay now..and we're not blocking anybody..

trent is not Jim Brown but we sure aren't blowing anybody of the ball.

Luck just is very hard to sack..

Be careful what you say about the O-line. I've made a few disparaging remarks about how good I think the O-line is and have had fans on this forum pretty viciously attack me and hurl personal insults. It's apparently a very sensitive topic on these boards.

  3. what? we lost? i went home at the start of the 4th but i mean dang, we were cleaning their clock. oh well its 4th stringers and camp fodder at that point

Yes, I agree, what happened in the fourth quarter means relatively nothing.  Much more concerned about how the starting O-line and Richardson played.

  4. If you're asking me, it's that neither are better...but whether Richardson's better is irrelevant.  If the OL isn't any good (given the injuries), it doesn't matter who takes 15 carries a game, they aren't getting very far.

So how far do you think the Colts can go without a decent running game?  What are your expectations for the season? I'm guessing you don't think the running game is satisfactory now.

  5. Nope, he won't blossom until the franchise decides to put a decent O-line in front of him.  I expect very similar numbers to the last two years.  Until the team decides to stop putting garbage in to block for him he can't ever reach his full potential.  That's not to say anything against Andrew Luck, I seriously doubt any quarterback could do a great job behind that O-line. Luck's numbers the last two years weren't bad at all he just isn't becoming a top 5 quarterback until the O-line issue is resolved and I think most people on this forum agree that Luck is capable of being a top 5 quarterback as far as numbers go.

  6. Dude, come on. A rookie gets thrown in after a scary injury, while the team is in the red zone, for his first handful of professional snaps. He got nervous, let's give the guy a break. He'll get better.

Fair enough, I just don't think it's great play to snap the ball over the quarterback's head but I'm not a professional or anything I could definitely be wrong.

  7. During training camp I listen to all the "camp talk" on local radio....

and to a man all have stated Harrison "at least" looks very good...   and "may overtake Holmes" as starting C by week 1

Harrison has impressed in camp, only problem is Indy has NO depth...  Grigs has got to get some bodies in here to play these meaningless preseason games.....

That said...   I like this "young" OL...     esp with DA protecting the "that which matters most" ...

Harrison was that guy in the first preseason game that snapped the football over Luck's head right? I just want to make sure we are talking about the same guy who you are saying "may overtake" the starting center.  If that's true this certainly doesn't bode well for the offensive line play this season.

  8. I don't think the vast majority of those significantly hurt the organization.  It's unfortunate that Holmes won't be able to participate in preseason but its more important that he heals up so that the team can have a mostly intact offensive line for the opener in Denver.  I think Howell and Holmes are the only two that the team really needs to fear losing and as of now it seems both are going to be alright.

  9. Think about all of the injuries last season. Yet they still managed to win 12 games

That's true, I just don't see it happening this season.  I don't see how this team even gets close to teams like Denver or New England.  The good thing is we won't have to wait very long to see just how good or bad this team is. September 7th in Denver will tell us a great deal about what we can expect for the season.

  10. It depends on how you define "a step forward".  I don't see how after these injuries you cannot temper expectations early and realize its necessary to redefine what a "successful season" will be.  I highly doubt a strong run in the playoffs is possible with these injuries but I still have hope that this team can get there.  Before these injuries I thought the AFC championship could be a real possibility now I realize that this is unrealistic.

  11.

This is your first post. Let the beauty and sheer panic of the thought soak over you. Maybe 12 hours after Holmes' injury when you have had more time to digest it and be less emotional or panicky, or whatever you were, you might have put in a more reasonable thought. Doubtful though because you have kept defending this position.

Ahem, I point you back to your original thought, you know where we should give up on the season.

I keep bringinp up the first preseason game, well... because that was the game in which you declared season over. I know you said "if" Holmes is seriously hurt but regardless, it is still a funny sentiment. For the love of God, they had a good year last year with McGlynn and Satele playing key roles.

I have a differing opinion than you - a more thoughtful and reasonable one. So I guess I would tell you to expect to hear about it if you post something so over the top.

Good to know that you feel anyone that posts anything that you deem over the top can look forward to receiving personal attacks from you and name calling.  If that's how you wish to discuss how serious an issue it is if the Colts lose two starting offensive linemen I am done here.  I have better things to do with my time than spending it attempting to have a conversation with someone that is only interested in resorting to name calling and personal attacks on anyone that disagrees with him and instead of using evidence only states that his opinion is more "thoughtful and reasonable" for no other reason than it came from you,  If that's the way you wish to conduct yourself that's fine but I have more meaningful things to do with my time.

  12. Can you possibly see how off base it is to suggest giving up on the season after one preseason game?

I am not giving up after one preseason game.  I am saying that it will be extremely difficult to have a successful season if Holmes and Thomas are both injured.  You keep bringing up the preseason game as if I am judging the team on it.  You cannot tell anything from one preseason game.  You can tell something from two of a team's starting offensive linemen getting injured. I hope that I am wrong but just because I have a differing opinion than you do does not justify making personal attacks.  Attack the argument all you wish, explain how I am incorrect but the personal insults are unnecessary.

  13. haha give up on the season, forums never let me down on a laugh wow........

Yes, it's absolutely hilarious that the Colts might lose two of their best offensive linemen before the season even begins. It's hilarious that people on this forum think that the Colts have a shot at a successful season with an even more horrid offensive line than last year. And it's hilarious that even after two seasons this franchise can't seem to fix the glaring issue with its offensive line.  It's all so absolutely hilarious ha ha ha

  14. Wow you're giving up on the season after the 1st pre-season game??????   lmao    I wondered how long it would take the panic to set in, guess I wasn't too far off

So you think this can still be a successful season if the Colts lose two of the best starters on an already sub-par offensive line?

  15. Let's all hope Holmes recovers quickly because the O-Line looked horrible without him in and I don't see how the Colts have any type of successful season without their starting guard and center.  If he's out for an extended period might want to consider starting Hassleback and protecting the franchise quarterback.  Outside of that I thought it was overwhelmingly positive.

  16. Overreact much?

Did Denver give up after losing ryan clady last year? Who is Holmes compared to clady? Please.... Stop with the nonsense. I've rolled my ankle before.... Was off my feet for 2 weeks.... Guess what... The season doesn't stare for another 4 weeks. Boom... Mindblowing.

Yes, wasn't making any claim to how serious it was.  Only making the point that losing a starting center and starting guard on an already sub-par offensive line would certainly destroy any hope of a successful season. If this is serious I guess we'll see though.
