In the top 5. We could have had. Instead of clowns like Morrison and Green, and don't come out with the hindsight bull. Howard and Robinson were both considered big time prospects, and Brown was clearly a talented ILB. The only player on this list you could make the hindsight argument with might be Hargrave, but again. Like Brown, he was clearly a talented player.
1 Ryan Kelly
2 Cody Whitehair
3 Javon Hargrave
4 Jordan Howard
4 Rashard Robinson (For those who don't know, he balled this year in San Fran as a rookie)
5 Jatavis Brown
You can LITERALLY say this about every teams draft for every year. Thats the beauty of hindsight....
Whitehair had his own question marks.

Like I said man. Some people just blindly follow. They think every move Grigs makes is genius.
I get what your saying, but alot of people on here don't seem to factor in the fact that these free agents (quite often for the first time in there careers) have a choice as to where to go/what scheme they want to be in, ect. This is also still the first 24 hours of free agency, we shouldn't expect a complete team at this point, IMO

Your point is a valid one J33, but the Black Hole had more salary cap space than INDY does, & how do you propose we sign Mr. Pot Roast well still being able to afford Luck's 2nd contract?
Would Terrence play for the Colts at a huge discount for a shot a ring? No, I just can't see him doing that. He wants serious cash; Money we just can't give him or afford in my estimation.
NFL Radio has been speculating that the issue with the raiders and the bigger name free agents is the cash to pay the signing bonus more so than the salary itself.

I don't think many teams view Abdullah or Johnson as an every down back. Too small.
Both seem the type to be in a time share with another back. Like Bernardi and Hill at Cincy....
I'd love to see Abdullah or Johnson teamed up with Herron and a vet like Gore.

that stiff arm/body slam on the OU player was nasty! had to watch that one a couple times

I live in the heart of patriot territory and I have to say that even though it may have been a prank. I think its pretty accurate of 95% patriot fans.... The ones that truely know football usually don't say this sort of nonsense, but I have pretty much the same argument anytime i go out with my colts gear on.

Claiborne's first 3 games this season:
Targeted at: 5, 3, 7
Receptions: 3, 2, 5
Yards: 33, 84, 108
YAC: 14, 44, 29
TDs: 3
INTS: 1
Passes Defended: 0
QB Ratings when thrown at: 79.6, 149.3, 113.7
Davis' first 3 games this season:
Targeted at: 5, 4, 6
Receptions: 1, 2, 3
Yards: 5, 16, 33
YAC: 0, 11, 3
TDs: 0
INTs: 1
Passes Defended: 1
QB Ratings when thrown at: 39.6, 60.4, 27.1
And just for fun, Vontae's next two games were even better:
Targeted at: 0, 5
Receptions: 0, 2
Yards: 0, 25
YAC: 0, 8
TDs: 0
INTs: 1
Passes Defended: 0
QB Ratings when thrown at: 39.6, 16.7
Please bear in mind that Claiborne played agains the 49ers, Titans and the Rams, none of whom have prolific passing attacks. Davis played against Broncos, Eagles and Jaguars. Two of whom have very prolific passing attacks.
So basically, Davis' worst game is still considerably better than Claiborne's best game this year.
So I have proven you wrong, and you have no come back, because it too will be wrong.
Goodbye.
how dare you bring stats to this debate....

Vontae Davis is a perfect example of the underachiever. He came into the NFL with huge expectations and all the physical ability one needs. Unfortunately, he has performed far below those expectaions and his physical ability. He's simply an average CB.
He loses focus and at times seems to fall asleep during a game giving up big plays. No NFL QB, or receiver is intimidated by his presence on the field.
sounds like a dolphins fan that is all butt hurt that he's playing lights out now
-
I'd doubt he has that much value, I was thinking possibly packaging him and our 5th to move up late 4th if there is a DB prospect we want. Maybe a team like the panthers would make sense.
-
I'd be thrilled with your first draft, just not sure if EITHER M. Smith or J. Ward will be there when we pick in the 2nd round though.
-
what do you guys think about using the money that davis would have got (assuming he doesn't resign) and using that on byrd?
sounds like they're price tags could be about the same
-
Roughly 3 mil a year and people are already complaining. Why am I not surprised?
More importantly we don't know how the cap figures each year.
By the way, bubbles is the man!
-
does everyone forget the first 2 or 3 games this year? Landry was all over the field, led the league in tackles and IMO the contract seem justified. I wasn't impressed at all with landry at the end of the season but I think he can have a rebound season.
-
I think trent facing all the criticism in the media may be a blessing in disguise. Hopefully it puts a chip on his shoulder and if the line is improved I wouldn't be suprised to see him running "angry" next season and having a break out season.
-
Polian used to trade a pick from next year's draft for a pick this year. I normally wouldn't want to do that, but you just can't have 3 picks in the first 5 rounds......that is a really bad situation, when other teams have 5 picks or more. We have to find a way to manage this, and get another pick in the first 5 rounds, so we have 4 total. I think we are going to do that somehow. Maybe a 2014 4th for a 5th in this draft, or a 2014 3rd for a 4th in this draft.
There has to be a way to get another pick (maybe a trade down).
I think teams may be looking to move up around our pick #24 to grab a qb (philly, Cleveland, among others). I hope someone unexpected falls to us (cooper, warmack, patterson, DJ Hayden, Star, J. Jones). Feels like there are so many ways this first round could play out.
-
I like the couple of goalline plays he makes shortly after the 3 minute mark, he certainly looks like he can constribute as third safety and ST right of the bat and possibly take over at S in a few years
-
really don't think J. jones goes before Ansah, jaguars reach for Geno Smith, Floyd lasts long, Amerson goes in 1st, Jordan makes it out of top 10, Colts take Minter, honey badger goes in 1st. just my 2 cents but anything can happen come draft day
-
is everyone really that put off by Jones 40 time? the couple games I saw him play, I thought he had a good chance at being a dominant pass rusher IMO. I love the idea of him falling to us at 24
-
Aubrayo Franklin is what I see when I click it. NT from SD
-
wow that was a horrible miss!
-
I see Kiper has Warmack as best OG he's seen and think he may warrant a top 10 pick, thats pretty crazy being a OG. I like Cooper and if we are picking mid 20's I think he may be the best player left on the board and certainly fills a need.
-
Freeney sure had that his patten spin move working today. Hopefully Mathis is alright and we can see what this defense can do when back to full strength.
-
this was the first game I was able to see since the RGIII match up in pre-season. Sure looks like he has the command of this offense far beyond his ears. I didn't see any issues with the deep ball to me, atleast today. what a season so far!
-
No way we get any of those. The Colts wont be able to get that high of a pick. We already gave up a 2nd round pick on that * Davis (who hasnt done anything) We cant afford to waste any more picks.
smh, if your not hearing a corners name its usually a good thing.... CB was a position of need (obviously) and I doubt theres a CB in the second round that could help this team more now and/or has a higher upside that Davis.

I think Hankins would be a good target, Poe and Williams are going to be paid big time.
With the money teams have to spend this Free Agency, the big names are going to all get way overpaid.
