  1. Another recently revealed tidbit of information about Frank Reich's nightmare in Carolina:

Frank was not allowed - by the owner - to hired within "his circle" of assistant coaches".

This led to a number of different offensive philosophies within the offensive coaching staff.

Hard to groom a rookie "franchise QB" in that type of situation.

Frankly - I'm surprised that Frank Reich was WILLING to take that head coaching position with those types of provisos by the owner.

  2. THREE RECENT PIECES OF INFORMATION OF NOTE:

    1.  Frank Reich wanted to draft CJ Stroud - but - the owner overruled him and selected Bryce Young.  OOOPS!!

    2.  Frank Reich has announced that the Panthers head coaching job was the final leg of his NFL journey.

    3.  Evidently the Panthers owner has his mind set on Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as the next head coach.  A number of people employed by the Panthers have reached out to Ben Johnson and indicated that he shouldn't consider working for their "crazy owner".  WOW!!

  3. My thoughts & prayers go out to P Ryan Stonehouse and hope that he recovers from his injury.

I doubt that the Special Teams Coach was fired for the results of this one game.  Other than Nick Folk - the Titans Special Teams has failed to live up to their moniker.

I think a number of player and coaching changes will be happening in Tennessee this off-season.

No. If a player busts, it's on Ballard and the scouting team for drafting that player. The player doesn't draft himself to the Colts. Ballard and the scout team scout that player and draft him with the intention of him contributing to the team. All that work scouting and drafting the player is supposed to mean you are all-in on him thinking he will be a hit at the NFL level.

All the player can do is his best. If that's not good enough, then Ballard and the scouting team made the wrong decision in drafting him, and should have drafted someone else.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

    Thanks for your feedback.

  5. My view of Chris Ballard has always been positive.

We ALL make mistakes in our workplace - at home - and - in our personal lives.

His job is under far more scrutiny than ours are.

You also have to remember that if the PLAYER ends up a bust - it's on the PLAYER - and - not on Ballard or the scouting team.

Not ALL players will make a successful transition to the NFL game.

So the Thursday night game are only available on streaming services.   The game was said to be very good EXCEPT one huge problem.   There was more than 250 yards of penalties assessed.  Each team with more than 120 yards.   It’s being called the worst game by the refs in many years.  For some (many?) it ruined what should have been a great game.

Will the league take any steps this off-season so this doesn’t happen again?   Let’s hope so.

Doubtful - they'd have to hire PROFESSIONAL REFEREES and pay them accordingly.

Weekend referees are likely cheaper - and - therefore a keeper.

Remember when the NFL Network PROMISED that it would be available to EVERY HOME IN AMERICA?

    Yeah - that never happened.

  7. David Tupper's decision to fire Frank Reich as the head coach after ONLY 11 GAMES has just made the Carolina Panthers job the LEAST DESIRABLE NFL coaching vacancy this year.

Tupper's impatience - PLUS - the fact that the roster is riddled with mediocre talent - AND - the "high draft pick closet is bare" mean that there isn't going to be a way to turn this team around in the near future.

Additionally - it is now coming out that Frank Reich wanted to draft CJ Stroud at #1 overall - and - Tupper overruled him.

You couldn't GIVE ME this head coaching job if I were a coaching candidate.  I wouldn't even be willing to interview for it.

Reggie Wayne deserves to get in. He has the stats, won a Ring, and was the best WR on the team when Andrew Luck was a rookie showing his longevity. Edge James got in and to me Reggie was a better player as a Colt.

Freeney deserves to get in as well. He was better than Mathis at his peak. SB 44 proved that by itself, when he was hampered in that 2nd half and then could not play, Brees killed us. Freeney was our closer for years. Great sack artist.

Luck = ROH, he won't make the HOF. Just didn't play long enough.

I doubt Mathis gets in the HOF, great player and similar to Freeney but Freeney was better at his peak. He had more sacks than Freeney as a Colt (barely) but played more years as a Colt, 13 seasons to 11. Mathis being in the ROH was an easy selection though. The king of the strip sack!

My Mt Rushmore of Indianapolis Colts players (1984-2023) 40 seasons is:

    1. Peyton Manning

    2. Marvin Harrison

    3. Dwight Freeney

    4. Reggie Wayne

    -to me they are HOFamers.

The "reason" that the HOF voters give for Reggie Wayne's waiting is that there are a number of WR's who have the credentials & stats - but - have been waiting longer than Reggie.

Horse hockey - vote the man in THIS YEAR!!
