Field Yates is wrong, going back to 2012 (taken from Spotrac): Looking at Total Contract Value: And cap hit for that season: Teams improve, but not a guaranteed 3-7 wins, and some get worse. There's repeat offenders on there that spent heavy over consecutive seasons.
