  1. That's because we typically had players guaranteed to start in those positions and we were looking for cheap backups. We've effectively lost front-line guys from last year all across the board (and particularly on offense).

    Eh.....sometimes that happened.

But more times those cheap backups ended up being cheap, undertalented starters (cutting Kelvin Hayden and starting Jacob Lacey; cutting Bob Sanders then starting Joe Lefeged being two more recent examples).....and that's why we were the worst team in the NFL last year.

  2. Brackett is to small for the 3/4, but was the hart & soul of our 4/3. A warrior & the classic over achiever! He played hard & had a knack for the big hit or play. his leadership will be missed. Respected by his teammates. The team not the coach's pick the captions. he wore the C well.

Eh.....i'm not going to miss him one iota.

Time to get guys on this D that have an NFL pedigree, size-strength-athletic ability, and were actually drafted because of it.

  3. Painted in such a poor light, it makes me wonder why so many teams fell on their face and lost ground terribly (one of which may have lost a decent franchise guy/Smith) just for the off chance to land this "35 year old qb coming off 4 neck surgeries, who hasn't played football in a year and a half & who we aren't even sure if he has the requisited arm strength to throw the ball effectively"????

Trying so hard to run Peyton down so hard is nothing more than a lame attempt to rationalize something entirely irrational.

Did I say something nonfactual about Manning? He's not 35? He didn't have 4 neck surgeries? He didn't last play in January of 2011? His current health isn't a question mark? These are all facts, pal......there's nothing that needs to be "rationalized". If you want to live in a fantasyworld, go right ahead.....doesn't change the reality.

Manning is supposed to be the best player on the planet.....and yet, only a handful of teams are vying for his services?

You think if Aaron Rodgers were cut today, only 3 teams would go after him? lol

Take off your Manning blinders, join us in 2012, and use your brain.

  4. Yeah, Instead of doing what we did, I would have rather given a boatload of money to a 35 year old qb coming off 4 neck surgeries, who hasn't played football in a year and a half & who we aren't even sure if he has the requisited arm strength to throw the ball effectively....and then followed that up with our usual offseason of signing nobody during free agency, then ^messing^ up the draft, and then fillng in the holes on our team with undersized, marginally talented undrafted free agents.

  5. Because it seems that alot of people here are myopic Manning-or-bust fans and have no real sense of "players come and go support the TEAM", "rebuilding" or "new GM", or "new coaches all around", or "salary cap issues", or that the team itself is the "NFL franchise owner's property".

I'm trying to give 'em a bit of a break since most of them probably weren't around for the pre-Manning 16 years. But patience is wearing very thin.

Totally agree. I like the cut of your jib.

  6. Why would anyone complain about trying to get some talent that is cheap and actually was drafted and started at the NFL level?

Because they're still butthurt over losing marginally talented, oft-injured undrafted free agents who wouldn't start on any other NFL team, like Gary Brackett or Melvin Bullitt.
