  1. I don't claim to be or ever know the full extent of any players Hamstring injuries. It was said that the NFL and all teams expected the injuries due to the lockout, but here is my question. If they knew it was going to be a problem, was there anything the teams could have done to limit drills that tend to lead to hamstring injuries? As i wandered through teams' injury reports, i see too many hamstring injuries. Including the Colts.

So, with that said, does anyone have any experience with these injuries and what's the main culprit? After gonzo went down with one and several other Colts, it got my curiosity.

I used to play basketball and football in college. I have never seen so many injuries as the colts have had. The one thing you are taught from grade school to the pros is how to stretch and stretch properly. In college we would take at least 25 minutes of stretching and then have a warm up period. Start off as a jog while working your way up to a full sprint and then we would go full speed on the field. I would think at the pro level they would have this down to a science. Every body talks about the lockout, but these are pro athletes and should have their bodies atleast up to practice shape. Its like Peyton is throwing to China dolls.

  2. New England's backup QB's feasted on Jacksonville:

    http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011081152/2011/PRE1/jaguars@patriots?module=HP11_cp#tab:analyze

They're probably going to groom Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett into the next Matt Cassel, then trade either away to some gullible team for a 2nd-3rd round pick (plus, everything Belichick touches turns to gold). Their first game against Jacksonville will offer attractive footage to gullible teams as they overlook the fact the Jaguars can't pass defend to save their lives. When the Pats play a real preseason defense (Giants week4?), Tom Brady will step in to save face. They even play the Lions week 3, so unless the Suh + Fairley combo works out (if they're on the field), then that will be another stat-padding game.

    http://www.patriots.com/games-and-stats/schedule.html (their schedule)

The Eagles did this to perfection with Kevin Kolb. Kolb didn't have a strong body of work, but his presence with a skilled coaching staff and tidbits of solid (but limited) game footage made him attractive. All it took was a gullible and desperate team, and now New England is following suit.

I don't understand why the Colts don't do similar QB-stat backup padding. Yes, they play their backups, but they're commonly dropped after preseason and the Colts don't take the preseason seriously to begin with. We typically go 0-4 in the preseason. They need to start getting serious at the backup QB position and the preseason so they can compile a strong portfolio for their backup QB's and use them as trade bait. Instead, we do the exact opposite!... We inserted Curtis Painter into the Jets game (ie. the 1st overall defense) and had him embarrassed, consequently plummeting Curtis Painter's trade value! The Colts sent a message to the league that Curtis Painter is awful and he is now the poster boy for awful backup QB's!

When Peyton retires, we may be the suckers who trade to get Mallett or Hoyer...

Jason LaConfora is a yap!! He seems to have a mod edit for the Colts and Peyton. Although i think he has somewhat of a point. This guy didnt even have Peyton in his top ten. I just get tired of his Colts bashing.

  3. I would take Ricky Williams over any of our backs outside of Joe.

I think our money could be spent better other than RBs. I am really excited to see Delone Carter and i would love to see Chad Spann make the team. I think people would be really suprised at the skill of this guy. Im in full belief that we will have one heck of an offense if O line can have any impact on our running game. Our Offense is set so much up on play action. Im not saying Ricky isnt a good back, just not sure if he is where we need to spend our money at this moment. IMO i would like to see us pick a good corner. LACEY SCARES ME A STARTER!!

  4. I totally agree other than your DT I think harris will win the starting jo over anderson but you said could change so we agree there and the LB position I dont think Angerer will start this year because of our pickup with simms.

If anything it would be Conner losing his starting job to simms. Pat knows all the LB posistions and IMO he the best LB we have. Gary has more experience but is not as talented or quick as the rest. He is on the field for his leadership and knowledge of the game. I think our D needs one more good corner. Im not liking Lacey as our starting corner. The guy I would like to see on the field is Jacques McClendon. Id like to see if he has the technique to go along with his strength.

  5. Lets bring in Brett Favre by that logic then...he's ranked #1 in every statistical category! Please we are stacked at WR and no deep threat?! Peyton will turn any receiver into a deep threat! It just takes one wrong read by a safety or CB and it's over. Peyton will take what the defense gives him always. He won't try and chuck the ball up to Moss in jump ball situations if he is covered. Peyton gets his yards by calling the right play and having his receivers be good route runners. If that is done, every single receiver can be a deep threat at any time (Tamme is a prime example)

I didnt know Peyton runs the routes too. So we can just throw any WR out there and Peyton can lead him open?? It takes a lil bit more than that. Just ask Collie, I think Peyton led him into a few bad situations. To me we only have 1 true burner and thats Garcon, all the others are possession receivers.

  6. Hey, our receiving corp is already solid, so we don't need Moss. There is always the chance he'd be special, but it could crash-and-burn pretty bad.

Frankly, I think we'll be fine with the #FourHorsemen (Wayne, Gonzo, Garcon, Collie).

Did you mean our receiving corp is already fragile? Yea i would think we would be fine too if they stayed healthy all yr, but Gonzo gets hurt walking out of the tunnel and Collie needs to wear 3 helmets. Im saying sign Moss to the same contract that Edwards signed for. He gets 1 million with incentives i think its up to 3.5

  7. By that logic we should also have signed Braylon Edwards, Sidney Rice, and Plaxico Burress and making other teams gameplann for Wayne, Moss, Collie, Garcon, Clark, Edwards, Rice, and Burress.

You can only put so many guys out there at once. The money we'd spend on Moss would be better spent elsewhere.

My logic was that we have never really had a wide reciever such as Moss, and yes you try to game plan for a 4wr set with WAYNE, COLLIE, MOSS, AND GARCON OR CLARK. I dont know about you, but id like to see that in action.

  8. I agree with Irsay. Never understood the "sign Randy Moss" talk. It just doesn't make good sense.

lol doesnt make sense? Imagine if your the DC or CB. Just trying to game plan for Wayne, Moss, Collie, Garcon, and Clark is almost impossible. The name alone will make defensive schemes change. Just them having the thought of a down the field threat, IMO would open up our running game even more. I say give it a shot for a year. I would just like to see Peyton with a a guy like this on our team. Never really had a guy like this. Harrison was awesome, but not the same reciver as Moss

  9. The only reason Brown stays on the team, is because he was a first round pick.

Polian doesn't want to swallow his pride and say " I made a bad choice ".

Id take Chad Spann over Donald any day!! Im sorry i just never seen it. This guy runs hard, im tired of watching Donald run up the backs of our O line. I know some of its the O lines fault, but Donald just seems to lack the toughness it takes to get the extra yard.

  10. While I have been greatly advocating that we need no offensive help this offseason, our RB squad is far from good. I'd say average AT BEST even with Brown, Addai, etc. We are consistantly in the lower 1/3 of the league in rushing every year.

Just because the Colts have a history of drafting the dancers @ RB and everyone seems happy with it for the most part doesn't mean a power back is a bad move. Cadillac WIlliams 3.8YPC is better than Browns 3.8YPC because Williams did it hurt. I think if he could ever stop being injured he'd be great, another Bob Sanders situation here.

Also to say the colts wont invest in a RB is ridiculous. This is the Colts were talking about. They will always make the wrong moves in the offseason. As a matter of fact I see this as 10x more likely than a move that makes sense like a CB or an OL, or a true DT.

lol so its all the running backs fault?? You try to run in our offense when getting tackled in the backfield. Why do you think Addai has to dance so much back there? Our O line is made with more agile linemen to pass protect than bigger guys to push the line to run. I think Addai is one heck of a back. Do you ever watch him have to take on some the blocks he has to coming up the middle on some of the blitzes. Donald Brown gets pushed around trying to block. Id like to see Joe Addai, Delone Carter, and Chad Spann IMO Just never seen Donald being an elite back in this league

  11. After reading the latest article on IndyStar about the Colts offensive line, im thinking ppl have forgotten that the colts were TIED for the fewest sacks allowed in the NFL last year.... Some peoples argument to that would be "Oh its cause manning has a quick release" and your right he does... No one knows what they are gonna get out of the likes of guys like Likenbach, but i do know that whoever the colts shuffle in they always seem to give peyton "enough" time to get rid of the ball... Dont forget that other teams play defense as well. The only thing the colts need help on is run blocking, with that Diem needs to be removed from the starting lineup cause he is not good at it at all he's old and a false start king... the colts have young guys who CAN play McClendon is one of the strongest guys in the NFL or so ive heard. So i see no reason the colts needing to bring in some fancy old named veteran.

What is it with every body jumping on the Ryan Diem false start bandwagon. Its turned into one heck of a snowball. Need to check his stats and starts before you all start crucifying this guy. This guy is still a good tackle, put Likenback in there and watch him get mauled by stronger DE's I think we will be fine at the OL position. We only have one of the top offenses in the league every year. I agree we at least need some type of running game, but we will get there. PATIENCE YOUNG GRASSHOPPER

  12. That's what i don't understand when you say stuff about Polian people get mad. As far as i'm concerned he is content with the playoffs. Any team in the league could make the playoffs with Manning. Maybe at one time Polian was a genius. The last few years he hasn't solved our problems. Can't stop the run, No quality return man, Can't run the ball. Just sit around and sign undrafted free agents and hope Manning carries us. Outside of Manning, Freeney and Mathis I don't see our building blocks.

I dont understand why we dont try to get one heck of a DT. It would help out Freeney and Mathis so much not they need it, but if we could get some kind of push up the middle our D would be nasty. It would help the corners (picks) and our LB's would have another sec. to at least make a tackle or sack if we ever decide to blitz. Which we rarely do. Sometimes I would almost see what Lacey could do at safety?? He is always trying to strip the ball and has a knack for being around the ball. He just doesnt seem to have the initial quickness to get there. I know he small but in certain situations id like to see him back there for 3rd and long

  13. To continue in the spirit of the CB thread posted by Andy246, I figured we could start one about another area of concern: DT's. Unfortunately, the Brandon Mebane ship has sailed, and Remi Ayodele was another prospect worth considering, but there are still some quality players out there that could be had for relatively cheap. It certainly wouldn't hurt to give them a shot.Did anyone pick up Amobi Okoye yet? Id like to see him in a colts uniform, i used to watch him at U of L

*NOTE: If I make any errors - someone I list here has already been signed, etc. - please forgive me. It is late, and I haven't checked all of the updates.
