  1. They must like what they see in Rodgers and Tell, and figure that Facyson will add depth. Rhodes dropped off last season, maybe due to injury and age. He probably won't be back. You have to admit, the CB talent now is still better than the edge rusher talent (before the trade). Yes, it's tough losing Rock. Not only a guy who was coming on, but a great person and teammate. But I'd still take a proven edge rusher over a CB any day.
  2. That's true, but it's job to field the best team possible (with all things considered). Carson was a gamble that, if it paid off, would have given us a franchise QB for years to come. We know Frank vouched for him and thought he could 'fix' his issues. A lot has been written about how he wasn't a leader, a good fit in the locker room, etc., but until that comes out of the players mouths it's all second hand gossip. What you have to admit is that Ballard made the best of that whiff, he essentially traded Ryan for Carson without losing a draft pick and got him at a better salary. As far as Rock, yes he was starting to come on. But I'll take a proven edge rusher over a proven CB every time.
  3. Good analogy. Then we end up with a sensible car that will get you where you want to go, about the same as about half of the other cars. While the guys in the expensive cars are whizzing on by you to the SB. I don't expect him to change his spots. I do expect him to fill glaring holes with pieces that improve the team. That could still happen. There are serviceable players out there. One he fills in that QB spot, LT better be a priority.
  4. Not arguing with you about how well the FO is working until we know they’re done. But Bowen said that the teams that spent the most on free agents improved by an average of three wins. That’s a division title in our case. The future is this season. The cap goes up every year and manipulating it isn’t that difficult.
  5. Better yet, any chance the Colts get ONE of the top 100 Free Agents? I guess Ballard figures no one on that list would come into the building with all their chips.
  6. Ballard is definitely not changing his stripes yet. He waits for the prime suspects to be swooped up and then sifts through the remains. So far, not one of the top 100 Free Agents on the CBS Sports list have been signed by the Colts. 16 of the top 20 are gone. Someone reported that the teams that spent the most in Free Agency improved by 3 wins. That's the difference between sitting home in January and winning the division. I can understand that until we get the QB situation straightened out, everything else is secondary. But we have glaring holes that could be addressed. (I know we're all said this a million times. But I think it was my turn to vent.)
  7. Once that QB is picked, if Ballard doesn't get a GOOD LT, TE, and WR, I think we all need to tweet Irsay = "All Chips In????"
  8. I think Ballard is going to have a QB built. That doesn't come cheap. He's acquiring DNA from Peyton right now.
  9. Half the time it's agents leaking things to reporters to build up their client's value. I can answer your question about what the Niners want for Jimmy G - as much as they can get! I heard some people projecting that a 3rd round pick would do it. In this QB hungry league, I'd guess it would be more than that. He's not my favorite mainly because he's still healing up and will miss OTAs and maybe some of the camp.
  10. Do you really expect a credible source to confirm any of this? No one in the Colts organization is going to say yay or nay. What purpose would it serve them to show their hand? Listen to Kevin Bowen, Mike Chappell, etc.. Those guys have sources, but even they say it's pretty buttoned up right now. I'm as frustrated as everyone else. I hope that once the QB situation is straightened out, Ballard will fill the other holes, like LT and WR.
  11. I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but with so much cap there's no excuse for not filling the major holes - LT, Edge Rusher, and WR. Those guys are sitting there waiting to be overpaid by someone. I'm hoping that they're working on how to address QB and that will start the dominoes. If they go with a stop gap, there's plenty of cap space to get the top guys in those positions. If they somehow swing a deal for Carr, then it's a different story.
  12. $30M is nothing for a top 16 QB in this league, and you have to admit he's at least in that group. The cap will go up each year anyway. The eye test tells me Carr is a much better QB than anyone else you mentioned. Going with Sam and looking to the draft is like giving up the season. We can't do that again.
  13. I'm standing by my belief that Ballard has on the phone with the Raiders since yesterday. They're agreeing on the trade for Carr, just working out the trades and new contract amount. That has to be why they haven't spent any money yet, right? Seriously Ballard, there is a salary cap floor you know.
  14. It's like deja vu all over again. Looking at the Free Agent Tracker and not seeing many horseshoe in the 'New Team' column. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2022-nfl-free-agency-tracker-updates-on-where-the-top-100-free-agents-are-signing/
  15. If teams were loading the box last season, can you imagine what it would look like if they knew our QB couldn't throw the long ball at all?
  16. And Jimmy isn't going to throw until mid summer. I've been holding back on Ballard, but if we sign JG... Wasn't Ballard the one complaining about not having a QB until the season started last season?
